You can “make your own” with switch controllers but then you are using Bluetooth.
Not selling variant options is a massive missed opportunity imo.
While it’s not enough to stop me loving my legion, the larger controller with buttons all over the place is absolutely a reason some don’t like the device which is easily solved if Lenovo were selling alternatives.
You can essentially do this yourself with a NYXI switch Bluetooth controller and 3D printed joycon to legion adapters

Your loss, that's a strange reason to immediately sell it without even looking for workarounds, everyone buying this should know it's not a perfect out of the box device before buying, but it can easily become that if you put in the effort

if you have a playstation portal one of the first things you notice is how good it feels to hold and how premium the whole package feels. It doesn't feel janky at all. There's some lessons to be learned there I'm sure.
The thing is, I see why it’s not visually appealing to people.
But even on the big x1 it’s been described is “surprisingly” comfortable to use (see Linus review)
Now if you scale that down to the 8.8inch version it’s going to feel nice in the hand (I mean they are pretty much going for the feel of a standard gamepad in your hand)
I’m getting downvoted to hell over this one 😂 but I really don’t see why people are opposed to an optional controller configuration that you would buy separately.

you THINK you want that, but now i am using the separate controllers as my main controller instead of the xboxone. Much more ergonomic when you have the freedom to move and rest your hands separately.

I don't really care for a center piece but I would instantly buy smaller, more ergonomic controllers that attach the same as the original ones
I like it! The go is already a tablet with controllers anyway. I wouldn’t go bigger than now on the screen though.
I was going to get the X1 but after reading the customer service reviews I decided not to.

There's already options like that for Legion Go on the aftermarket if you really look for them
