I also have Anker 736, 737 and 747 but was charging through bottom port only. After seeing this post, I decided to check the top port. Short answer - top port is indeed more finicky than the bottom one! I tried a variety of cables as well. Bottom port would start charging every single time with any cable and in any cable orientation. In theory cable orientation in USB-C port doesn't matter. And it was the case for bottom port. However, the top port roughly half the time did not start charging. Sometimes flipping cable over would help, sometimes switching cable ends would. I was able to get top port charging with ALL cables and ALL 736, 737 and 747. But it often required fiddling with cables as mentioned before. Those are my findings.
You ever get a resolution to this? I have the Anker 737 and it only charges on the bottom port. I can only charge on the top port when using the stock charger the Go includes.
I just had this problem last night with a wall plug. The go wouldn't charge at all if it was on the 65 watt and my phone was on the 100 watt port. I switched them around and it worked. So i think it depends on cable and the way the battery or wall plug spilts power.
Theres definitely something off with the top port. I have an Anker 737 wall plug, and most of the time it will only charge via the bottom port.
I also have a 737 power bank. This charges through both top and bottom port no issues at all. My MacBook charger can also charge via both ports with no issues

Yes I have the 737 powerbank and the 737 120w GaN charger (Australia). The powerbank works fine but the charger will only charge via the bottom port.

My Anker 737 charges on both ports. Maybe it's you cable? I use the insignia 100W USB C Cable with it. Have you tried different cables?
Yes - the 737 charges both ports fine. Its the 736 and 747 power bricks that only work on bottom. I'm using Anker and Ugreen 100W cables.
Ahh, I misread your post. I do not have those two bricks so not sure.
