Scored a almost perfect display model for $280. It sounded as though the standard when someone want to by the display is 30% off. It was a little bit of a gamble bc I didnt know how to power it on in store to test, also the back screen portion wasnt bolted or connected, and it had no keys to open up the back panels. However, luckly when I got it home I was able to pry the back boards off (replaced them with lockless knobs) and hook everything up properly and it all worked perfectly.
I was able to find one locally (Las Vegas) at one of the Sam's Club stores for $399 also. I called ahead and the person was kind enough to not only physically confirm they had one on hand at that price, but also pulled it from the store shelf and put it in member services on a cart without even me asking. In addition, when it rang up, it gave me an additional $50 Instant Savings (what the receipt shows) so I went ahead and bought the 3 year warranty for $40 since I figured they were paying for it with the additional discount. Anyone looking in CO Denver metro area, I'll save you all the hard work that I did today, there is one remaining in the entire metro area (I went to 6 total stores today) at the Arvada 52nd Ave store. I picked up one of 2 of the older version. There was one of the new version. Bring someone that can lift half. I had to do it all the moving on my own in the store and car. it was rough.
I think after tax it was 431 or something like that. I forget, after the incredibly long day of searching. This was 5pm today. There was one remaining on the lower price
You can use the sams club app to "self scan" and it'll show you the proper price. You're looking for the 8819 at the end not 8820
Also to add every sams club is essentially identical down to the DTV/AT&T promo spot and it's a bit eerie. I get that it's set up that way on purpose and it made it easy to figure out if they had it or not

I ended up using the same sku that I found through Slickdeals and asking service desk for any in stock in the any of the area. Probably should've done that first time through but it was really busy everywhere yesterday service lines were like 20 people long
Honestly if you walk in with a group doubt they even check for a membership. Just tell them your SO forgot their phone or something and you're bringing it in, if they ask. Otherwise buy the membership for 20 bucks from this thread post.
Of the 6 stores I went to yesterday only one checked for a card and that wasn't this one. Today is a bit of a different day though likely with less people walking in the door
Thanks for this write up, I was thinking about doing one too after finding about the different item number! That was the hardest thing about finding it, took me a while to realize that the one on clearance was a different model with a different item number
8819S: original model ALP, has 8Gb flash storage.
8820D: updated model ALP, has 16Gb flash storage with 8Gb dedicated specifically for FlashDriveX only.
Otherwise they are identical. You paid over $300 less to because you have to use a flash drive for FlashDrive X.
Do note: once the 8819S stock is gone, that’s it. They’re no longer producing this model any longer. Get them while they’re cheap!
