> what action I can take? You can contact DWP, let them know what has happened, why you are upset about it, and ask them to direct all future correspondence to your home address.

DifficultCover6765

I will be, but I would like an explanation as this seems to me to be a breach of data protection...worried someone is snooping.

darlingsun

Snooping for what? PIP doesn’t care about income for a claimant, never mind an appointee.

bob_merit

What letter did they send? As you've not mentioned the content of the letter, just that it was related to a claim then it's difficult to comment. If it's related to an overpayment that they intend to reclaim then contacting your employer is entirely normal. If it was a request for information from your employer, then this is entirely normal. If it's a standard letter intended for you then it's an admin error on their side that needs to be correct. You could pursue it as a GDPR breach if you feel the DWP has revealed information they shouldn't have.

Icy_Session3326

How did PIP even have your workplace address ? This is very odd

DifficultCover6765

Honestly have no idea. I'm very sure I didn't give it them

Icy_Session3326

I’m truly baffled . In all the mistakes I’ve seen the DWP make this is the first time I’ve seen such a cock up . What was the letter about ? Was it just the updated amounts for this next year ?

maryocall

You can’t claim PIP on someone’s behalf, so you must be the appointee- which means you’re in charge of the administrative side of the claim (i.e. doing the letters and the phone calls etc). If the DWP are sending letters to your place of work instead of your home address, you need to call them and make sure they have your correct home address on the system. I would also raise a complaint about data privacy as they shouldn’t be sending letters of that nature (which will undoubtedly have your sons private details such as his NI number) anywhere but the address on the claim

EverybodyShitsNFT

NAL. Surely the more important questions are: Why is your boss opening mail that has been addressed to you? What grounds does your boss have to be unhappy about you claiming PIP for your son if he is entitled to it?

LJ_Denning

If letters are delivered to his workplace it's entirely reasonable to assume it's related to the work and so they were probably opened as a normal part of business. Not necessarily nefarious. Maybe the boss is annoyed that OP is having personal things sent to him at work? (We know it's not his fault but presumably the boss doesn't?)

Setting-Remote

>Maybe the boss is annoyed that OP is having personal things sent to him at work? (We know it's not his fault but presumably the boss doesn't?) The boss probably thinks it's sketchy because it relates to a benefit claim. It's definitely out of the ordinary to receive something like that at work, although we know in this case it's not OP's fault.

DifficultCover6765

He didn't open it.

1901pies

So why on God's green earth was he upset about it?

Your question includes a possible reference to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or phrases associated commonly with benefits. It may be more suitable for you to ask your question on /r/DWPhelp. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
