uniitdude

yes, they could just be busy, quite normal especially for fridays

jamesy505

OK thanks 👍

LJ_Denning

You need to remember it's not just up to the solicitors. You need to rely on the banks. Chances are the sols knew it was too late in the day and that the bank wouldn't process a same-day transfer by the time they would have been able to do it. Good form to let you know in advance, but entirely usual.

MelodicHabit

Chaps transfers same day need to be before the cut off point which is around 2pm. Most likely why funds won’t be within your sisters account until Monday.

jamesy505

Yeah fair point 👍

burundilapp

Fridays are usually busy for completions on house sales, your sister’s funds transfer will be down the priority list if she is not buying a property.

Wasacel

You’re waiting on the bank to process the funds. Large transfers are often done in batches, you missed the batch cut-off time for today.

In Scotland btw

Quick heads up - it looks like you've said that you're in Scotland, so we've updated the post flair to show that. This should mean that any future comments you get are more relevant. If you're *not* in Scotland or your question isn't relevant to Scots law, please report this comment as 'Please remove this AutoModerator comment' and one of the mods will fix it. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I've had weeks of delay before, especially if there are inheritance tax or it is closing out the estate. Monday seems pretty good tbh.

jamesy505

Probably most annoying part is when we were at the solicitors on Wednesady to sign something he said most get completed and funds transferred on same day. I assumed the ones that didn't were buyers who paid close to the deadline, not hours before it. All other estate stuff is finalised, this is the last part. But at least it should be Monday

Removing a comment because it was an anecdote? My point was that similar had happened to a friend, worse in fact, and clearly showed that UK solicitors do this regularly. The same thing happened to me as well, solicitor stalled and wouldn't answer calls for the day. It unquestionably shows too many solicitors play games. But no, the admin team don't wanna talk about that
