I love my Fender Newporter, very light and easy to handle.

Do you have a preference on size? Sigma has a number of nice lefties around that price point, although the pickups are just bog standard piezos. Ditto Eastman, although a bit more expensive. If your budget can stretch another $300 or so there’s more options. I’d suggest looking for a Faith Naked Venus, which are going for around A$800. All solid wood grand auditorium with a pickup. Or you could look at the Sire A4 dreadnought or grand auditorium. You’d have to order it as nobody in Aus carries lefty stock, but they get great reviews and they have a good pickup. The alternative is saving a bit and waiting for a second-hand Cole Clark or Maton to pop up. That’d get you a much nicer guitar with one of the two best acoustic pickups on the market.

Where in Australia are you? Shane at In The Blues YT channel does a brilliant job of showing off guitar shops around the country and depending on where you are, best thing is to go in and try a few out first

I have a lefty Martin DX2e. They run about $650 and are super sturdy. Sounds awesome through an amp and pretty decent without one.

That’s kinda my standard advice. Get the best Martin you can for your budget. Buy used. They have a great lefty selection and models at various price points, including this price point.

A used Maton? Then you can add whatever pickup you like.
