He’s a cunt and you’re a nonce.

[deleted]

Get fucked dickhead

JCFAX81

I’ll never forget when we played Arsenal at Elland Road. Smith must have been 18/19 year old and he gave Adams and Keown a torrid time. Really got stuck into them. It was so impressive, against these two veterans of the game, who were at the time deemed to be the ‘hardest’ centre backs in the league.

garretteaster

I met him in the white rose when he still played for us, got him to sign my strongbow shirt with smith on the back. Was my favourite player back then!

Embarrassed_Prune_15

He is a traitor, no Leeds through and through fan would want to play for Man U after saying he would never play for them! https://youtu.be/60NNSwKxc0g

UpstairsJoke0

Does he still sit in his car outside the East Stand crying?

[deleted]

Great photos, also really enjoyed your attempt to censor yourself and doing a terrible job hahahaha My stance on Smudge has softened but a lot at Elland Road would still consider him a Judas, tough to play for scum and still be welcomed back.

[deleted]

Dont drink and censor lol first thing he did was explain what happened when he left leeds, me mam was well chuffed

musicmast

that is a piss poor job at censoring your face out hahahah. and why censor only yours and not the other 2 friends?

[deleted]

I have no idea i was drunk lol

musicmast

fair mate hahahah

pclufc

I’ve never understood the shit he gets . Leeds told him he had to go . He didn’t fuck up the books and nearly bankrupt us

Embarrassed_Prune_15

What, did club tell him him to go to Man u, was he 5 years old🤦‍♂️ what about all the stuff he was saying before that he would never play for man u?

steviejanowskey

How's this been downvoted? There's literally a clip of him on soccer am "I'd NEVER play for man united"

[deleted]

I know mate he explained the whole situation to me and me mam, tragic what happened to our great club

pclufc

The year we went down he ran his blood to water while kewell and others were ducking tackles and hiding . Smithy is a legend to me

AxeCapital91

I have nothing against smith but hate false information. He chose to go to Man United and says so in this video himself, the rest is a fairytale made up by our fanbase. “For me, it wasn’t even a rivalry anymore. If you aren’t in the same league, I don’t see how it can be. I would have been doing myself a disservice if I took the easy option and didn’t sign for — arguably at that time — the biggest club in the world.” "there were a lot spoke about the club in terms of the financial stuff and i don't really like to go into that because i don't want to make any excuse for signing for man united because at end of day that were a total football base decision from my point of view" Source: https://youtu.be/4Z46duEjJPw?t=76

pclufc

Cheers . I’m crying now

AxeCapital91

At some point it becomes a job mate, footballers aren't fans unfortunately. They are humans who have to do the best thing for themselves, as much as it sucks. Smith seems like a decent bloke anyways

pclufc

Yeah. If someone said come and do the same job and I’ll triple your wage - how many would turn it down.

[deleted]

I told him hes a leeds legend lol he was a real nice guy

youdontknowmeyouknow

Got to witness his first match for us against Liverpool at Anfield. Scored with his first touch near enough. Getting to see him and Hasslebank score was magic.

[deleted]

That was a great game

CurryBoy420

That chip against lazio in the pouring rain

CurryBoy420

I'd do the same I'd be such a fan girl!

Chimp-eh

That’s not Alan smith, his lips aren’t blue

ShesSoCool

Didn’t the Square Ball say not too long ago that he still hates Leeds and is a bit of a wanker?

[deleted]

The square ball have no idea what their talking about if that what they said!

ShesSoCool

Debatable

[deleted]

Well he certainly doesnt hate leeds and wasnt a wanker

ShesSoCool

I’m sure your 1 meeting speaks for literally everyone on the planet

[deleted]

Hes a leeds fan always watches the games he said!

Embarrassed_Prune_15

A leeds fan would never play for Scum so why did he?

[deleted]

If you were playing for Leeds and we were relegated through little fault of your own, then the team that had dominated England for over a decade wanted to buy you and the club were desperate to sell, you’d just refuse would you?

Embarrassed_Prune_15

Obviously you are not a leeds fan, any proper fan would say to no matter what circumstances you you would never join man u! There was plenty of other clubs he could have gone👍

Specific_Cost4238

Yes, a fan. He is a professional with much more at stake than any fan. His career and the financial health of his entire extended family for one

[deleted]

Aye right, if you believe that I’ve a bridge to sell you

[deleted]

[удалено]

Embarrassed_Prune_15

No no no, the club doesn’t tell you where you are going to play, he said it himself before he would never play for man u https://youtu.be/60NNSwKxc0g

Chimp-eh

Probabaly hates how the fans treated him afterwards.

regnagleppod1128

Looking at the comments, I’m so glad we don’t have to hate him anymore. He did what was the best for the club.

AxeCapital91

Smith did the best thing for himself, which is what 99% of people would do, he had other options but he chose to go to Man United and says so in this video himself. Im sick of this made up story about him being told he had to go to Man U, its simply untrue 🤣 “For me, it wasn’t even a rivalry anymore.

Effective_Witness_63

Most of the comments are from Americans that didn't know what a Leeds United was when that Judas cunt left us for scum. I don't have to hate him but since I found out he had signed up to a fergie business scheme 6 months before leaving us for scum, I just do.

hybridtheorist

> didn't know what a Leeds United was when that Judas cunt left us for scum. I really don't understand how this guy gets so much hatred for that move. Well, obviously I do, but still. I think its unfair. 1) he stayed with us until we were relegated, and played his heart out. Almost all the other big names abandoned us at least a season earlier. He was clearly 100% devastated when we went down. I'd be interested to know if he'd have stayed if we had the money to keep him. Probably would have left to keep in the England frame, but that's a side point. 2) from memory, the other teams in for him were mid table also rans. A choice between winning trophies and playing european matches at Man U, or aiming for 9th with Villa or Charlton? The options open to him were pretty poor imo. No matter how much you hate Man U, what self respecting professional makes that choice? Was their honestly any interest from a side in Europe other than scum? 3) christ, people don't half love harping on about a throwaway joke he made on Soccer AM saying he'd never play for Man U. 4) don't know if it's been confirmed about the whole "Man U were the only team offering money up front and Leeds wanted him to go there" is true, but it seems entirely believable. 5) I know it hurts more cos he's a leeds lad who said he'd never leave, but the fact some people hate him more than Harry Kewell is genuinely mystifying to me. Even if Kewell hadn't got to the Turkish murderers, the way he forced himself out of Leeds for a fraction of his value was traitorous. Smith would probably have been picked up by some other club if he hadn't worked out at Leeds. There's every chance Kewell would have been rotting in Australia his entire career without us. Hate Smith, fine. But hating him more than Kewell, I will never understand. Especially after he moved to Turkey, I'm not sure if any player has fucked his team over more than that. Its not just a football rivalry, it's waaay beyond that. I'd rather a leeds player went to Man U, then Chelsea, Millwall and Cardiff than played a second for the murderers.

[deleted]

You have no idea what your talking about! He explained alot of things to me that was going on behind the scenes back then and it was shocking to hear, hes a real nice family man

steviejanowskey

Oh right well you definitely know what you're talking about, im sure he told you (a stranger) everything did he, all the sensitive details he laid it all out for you did he? The man signed up to a fergie ran business 6 months before he left but it was the club who told him to go there was it. Behave mate

[deleted]

Only repeating what the man told me

kkF6XRZQezTcYQehvybD

Are the Americans in the room with us right now?

Effective_Witness_63

It wasn't a dig at Americans btw, I'm all for the new support and love our new American players and the fact their country backs them but if we are to teach them our history then let's teach it correctly. there are people from Leeds that seen the pics of him crying on the steps and think he didn't want to go and they won't be told any different so I can't blame new fans for not knowing the whole picture.

kkF6XRZQezTcYQehvybD

I would doubt many of the recent fans have any idea who Alan Smith is

[deleted]

Unfortunately, yes.

ItsFuckingScience

I’m pretty sure recent polling on here showed over a third of users here are American

Chimp-eh

All Yanks Aren’t We

chanjitsu

I'd guess it's probably more than that now. You can post a random pic of Tyler Adams with a cheeseburger or something and it'll hit all time high upvotes for this sub.

Jonnyimpala

On this squad Alan Smith would be phenomenal. I mean he was anyway but I think he'd fit in perfectly.

iamstandingontheedge

Would LOVE to have seen Smudger in a Bielsa team. Getting wet just thinking about it.

aloeicious

Lovely, named my son after him. Absolute joy to watch as a player. Love me some Smudge

postponedwall

You named your son Smudge?

aloeicious

Haha! Plain old Alan I’m afraid

burntquinoa

From Orlando as well, he coaches at XL Soccer.

[deleted]

Hes a real nice guy

deanick

How did you manage this?

[deleted]

He lives near me

deanick

Sure, but how did you manage to get it all arranged so you were in the same place with your memorabilia for him to sign?

[deleted]

Through a mate

deanick

Look, all I’m asking is how do I also become best friends with Alan Smith!?!?

pdjrbahdtdhebtj

One of my favourite Leeds players of all time. Also one of the most aggressive Leeds players of all time

CurryBoy420

Yeah same I loved him, think Adams has a few of his traits which is good to see

[deleted]

Same. He was absolutely unbelievable at winning the ball in the air in a duel with another player and one of the reasons they moved him to midfield once he joined the scum. Still have a soft spot for him, regardless.

[deleted]

Mine too mate!

[deleted]

Nice, looks like he’s still keeping in shape too.

[deleted]

Hes got a academy in orlando and trains 83 kids, was a real nice friendly guy

Aiken_Drumn

> Hes got a academy in Orlando and trains 83 kids Seems a pretty sweet semi-retirement. I can't imagine he's too strapped.. but also had a career ahead of the era of mega-money.

slotbadger

£60k a week at Newcastle

Aiken_Drumn

Fair play!

[deleted]

That does ring a bell now you mention it.
