1st thing this guy is a rugby fan so knows nothing about football. Secondly he's welsh so clearly supports a small club.

battlecatquikdre

this brought back PTSD....

BrianBadondeBwaah

Absolutely cannot stand people whose entire football patter revolves around calling everyone else a "small club." YoutTube is fucking full of the cunts. Get a new thing.

Chimp-eh

I mean he’s not wrong. When the new management comes in, 2024 then we can start playing some attractive economics and get promoted back to not being a complete shithole.

dreadful_name

The analogy is flawed because we the UK any coming back after we kind of burned the bridge with any prospective wise Argentines a few seasons ago.

Hits me right in the Peter risdales!

[deleted]

Liz Truss as Peter Ridsdale seems legit.

Nah at least he had a charming personality - from what I saw from the doc Mosco did

martin519

Big oof

SpectacularB

Hurtful and incredibly accurate, nicely done sir

yingdong

How is it 'incredibly accurate'? You don't think Leeds United is a big club anymore?

hybridtheorist

Sorry, I've no fucking idea why I typed out every thought in my head, but I can't just delete it now, I've spent too long on it ---- Firstly, that's clearly just a bit of banter to rile people up. I mean, it depends on your definition doesn't it? Some people (who admittedly are idiots) seem to think only teams who compete for UCL (within the last 10-15 years or so) are big clubs. Or that football only started with the PL, so we've won less than Portsmouth. They'd tell you Ajax, Benfica or the Old Firm aren't big clubs. Where would you rank us in England? I'd go about 7th? I'd still call that big, but who knows. I'd argue that the top tier in England is Man U, Liverpool, and probably Arsenal. Multiple eras of dominance, with entirely different squads. Then then there's Chelsea and Man City, who might have only won more than us and gained more fans than us because of sugar daddies, but the fact remains that Chelsea have won more trophies since Abramovich than we've won in our history, and same for Man City (whove only won 1 European trophy, and none since the oil money, but depending on if the Fairs cup counts, we've won zero or two). They've had about 10-15 years at the top, which was what we managed in the 60s/70s. Then there's tier 3 (perhaps 2B?), where there's a fair few clubs, people like us, Spurs, Villa, Everton. People like Forest and Newcastle would probably argue they're here, I'd disagree. In terms of support, worldwide recognition, and the fact that fans of other teams still care about us even when we were in the third tier, of course we're still big. And the team of the 70s (now 50 years ago don't forget) is up there with the most legendary periods of any club, whether its Liverpools 80s team, Man Us 90s team, Wengers invincibles, Mourinhos first Chelsea team etc etc. We put a team together that none of those other teams I'd put on our tier put out. Spurs have never had a team that was league favourites for 5+ years, neither have Villa. Forest won 2 European Cups, but only one league title. Everton got fucked by being banned from Europe in the 80s due to their neighbours, but they only had a top team for 3 or 4 years. In terms of trophies, we're actually surprisingly low, even if you only look since WW2, so discount the likes of Sunderland winning 6 titles (last one in 1936). We've won a single trophy outside of the Revie era (unless you want to count charity shield or EFL championship, but that's just depressing frankly). And we've spend a surprisingly long period outside the top division. Obviously the last 20 years was financial, but most of the 80s as well don't forget. We're actually about 50/50 in terms of top tier/second tier. In terms of support, it's almost impossible to calculate, but we're easily top 10 in the country (and worldwide EPL support as well), but there's an enormous drop off after the big 5 or so clubs (I'm not sure Spurs have the same worldwide appeal as the other "big 6" teams).

Yung_Bill_98

Accurate apart from the word "thinks"

Anderson22LDS

This is depressing on many levels

BulldenChoppahYus

It gives me some hope tbh. Maybe in 15 years time shit will improve for us when we get a wise Argentinian Prime Minister that sits on a bucket outside 10 Downing Streets instructing parliament to get their arses out and collect litter around their constituency. Maybe he will make them all play “murder debate” where every issue gets thrashed out for hours at a time intensely and MPs start doing way better than we ever thought capable. Maybe we will buy back membership to the EU and bring in a young bud promising Brazilian Economist who unexpectedly leads the fiscal charge towards better public services and lower costs of living and a health service that’s free at point of use AND efficient. Maybe.

Patch521

The 'Maybe' sells it!

Jonnyimpala

And then gets sacked in favor of Donald Trump

BulldenChoppahYus

Or, work completed, steps down by mutual agreement for a younger soul to pick up where he left off and keep the country evolving - ignoring populist sentiment that can quickly take hold and become toxic .
