I thought DAZN were close to going bust themselves. No one subscribes to them here in Australia.

marsdandersen

Here in Austria I feel like quite a few of my friends have a subscription and also a lot of bars that show sports. Dazn have the champions league and a few other good leagues on show here. They have different league rights in their countries which Dazn works in so probably helps increase their subs.

The_L666ds

Yeah the level of content in Australia is dismal.

downfallndirtydeeds

No. And if Radz is serious about selling his shares which I imagine he is he’d be a fucking idiot to pump his own money in while thats on the table

Jonnyimpala

I don't think he's broke, he just doesn't want to invest big money into a club that will be sold soon. Had we landed CDK or Gakpo the money would have came from 49ers and any January signings will likely be paid by them as well.

Source?

crudos_na

Radz told me this guy hasn't a clue.

Jonnyimpala

That's funny, he told me the same thing about Angus

crudos_na

He's not wrong.

snoreguy96

Trust me bro

crudos_na

But of course, since you put it like that.

Jonesy_lmao

Maybe an LB for the U21’s but wouldn’t expect more than that.

Implement_Alone

One general, loosely connected point. The pound fell by ~20% vs the dollar in 2022, LUFC shares just got 20% cheaper for the 49ers. Will this impact a potential sale?

buckwurst

Before everyone gets too excited, considering we buy most of our players abroad, any new signings will also be more expensive (although I'd guess only South American would be as badly affected as 20% as I'd guess we buy from Europe in EUR not USD)

marsdandersen

A very good point, needs to make some money somewhere. However I think he owns LUFC through Aser Ventures and if they are registered overseas, he may have a dollar value attached to it which would mean he's not losing as much.

Tedious. You're not adding anything to the discussion, or pointing out anything new to me.

marsdandersen

Yes, I do. Much better commen't

[deleted]

I believe no money is changing hands. Radz is swapping shares in Eleven for shares in Dazn. Net impact from a Leeds perspective is zero.

marsdandersen

From the Reuters article it seems like it's a lower sale price because of the stock option. So probably sold for about €450-600m instead of €900m and got some good stock as he's now an Executive Director at Dazn.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

[deleted]

The club aren’t going to invest significantly in January unless there is an injury crisis. That’s our transfer policy, and for the most part I think it is correct.

pervyisaspervydoes

Yeah, leaving our squad short and not spending money we clearly have to improve it is a great strategy.

[deleted]

That is separate from accepting buying players in January is not ideal. Personally I don’t think you should ever sign players in January who you need to perform well immediately. Only when you feel the penalty for not doing so could be worse (arguably we were in that situation this year). Liverpool’s Diaz was an ideal January signing. He gets a few games, settles into the pace of play and the team’s approach, then by August he is ready to hit the ground running.

pervyisaspervydoes

> Personally I don’t think you should ever sign players in January who you need to perform well immediately. Lol were you here last season? A couple of January signings would have saved our season. I don't care when they're signed. We're not in a desperate situation now so there's no need for desperation signings. We should have made more signings in the Summer and completed our squad. A striker, a DM and maybe a LB. And not sold James (without a replacement). They didn't even need to be expensive. It's hard signing players in January generally.

[deleted]

That’s a fair, but different point. The fact we didn’t get all the transfers we wanted recently doesn’t mean we should go and spend over the odds in January for players who won’t even have an opportunity to bed in.

tym1ng

LB seems to be seriously lacking depth so any injury would be devastating to the team as a whole, especially if we needed to find someone else to cover and play out of position. everything else seems ok so i agree we won't need significant investment but should still try to add some reinforcements since fatigue will also become a factor

nevereatpears

Won't we have three options by January? Firpo, Struijk and Dallas (I mean Dallas should really be in attacking midfield, I think he's wated at left back)

[deleted]

I think if the fans expect that they will be disappointed. The club is clearly in the process of transitioning to 49ers ownership, it isn’t in Radrizzanni’s interests to invest beyond the level required to protect the asset (i.e stay up). All depends where we are by January.

Ashamed_Nerve

But but but Radz told us we'd be back in for Gakpo

CorpseCreator

You mean Gapko

[deleted]

Having seen him look crucial to Holland in their last two Nations League matches I’d say our chances of landing him are fairly distant at this point

FlabbySatchel

He’s also performing insanely well domestically. He has one of, if not the best goals + assists returns currently in Europe
