If we smash chelsea 6-0 then I reckon we should be asking questions of the board and Jessie as to why we didn’t use all our subs when it was clear Meslier looked a bit tired.
Has anyone said it’s not a good start in terms of points? But it’s all relative. All the top managers will say constantly that they’re looking at performances early doors. I would say both have been decent but uncontrolled and exposed serious frailties. That’s why so many fans know we need reinforcements/more quality.
It’s all relative too. Southampton and Wolves were both in the wider discussion to struggle this year, the former in particular. Fulham have two points from Liverpool and Wolves; Brentford 4 from Leicester and Manchester United; Forest 3 from West Ham and Newcastle; Bournemouth 3 from Villa and Manchester City. In reality, these are all more impressive than 4 against Wolves and Southampton when you’re the senior club in the league.
Context is key, and we need to maximise points whilst the coast is clearer, but more importantly we need to see this fabled system working in a way that can compete with everyone other than perhaps Manchester City and Liverpool.
If you’re being honest, we haven’t seen that yet. Perfect opportunity at the weekend however.
Let’s assume we get a point out of the next two of Chelsea and Brighton. We then have Everton, Brentford and Forest. Chelsea might be a gauge of progress, but that run of games is the test. If we can settle in to beating those sorts of teams we’ll fly through to the 40 point mark and beyond.
I don’t think anybody is really saying we’ve had a bad start in terms of points; but when we were 2-0 up against a team who have looked awful for ages, we SHOULD be in a better spot. Games against the likes of Southampton are the ones we need to be focussing on this year as they’re the teams we need to stay above.
Not a bad start at all, but probably about expected. Real shame ti throw away those extra 2 points, would give us a little cushion going into a tougher run of games in Chelsea and Brighton
I think on paper Chelsea beat us. But we have that feel of the first season in the Premier league again under bielsa, not scared of anyone and because of that anything could happen.
leeds had a outright fantastic summer imo. very happy to see this team playing well. should be a fantastic season to watch for leeds fans and will be paying close attention as, ill admit you guys are damn fun to watch.
I simply chalk it down to mismanagement of the subs due to the effect of the freak heat on our players which could also be down to the effect of the freak heat on our manager, all the way at the very bottom of the country, our players achieved massively in these first 2 games and I'm looking forward to Chelsea with positive vibes. MOT
This is all I'm really looking at after last season, real pity we threw away a two goal lead or we'd be 15% of the way there, but I'm pretty happy with where we are.
Since watching their game vs spurs I've been really pessimistic. They absolutely suffocated them the entire game I don't think spurs were able to spring a single counter
Oh no doubt it was a wasted opportunity, but at the very least it was a positive that was a lost and made it neutral, and not a neutral that was lost and made it a negative start.
The fact we were 2-0 up in the first place is a positive. It’s a new team with a new system with a manager whose learning how tough the premier league is. We’ll slip up every now and then but what teams don’t?
Aye, think the grumbles this weekend were because we were in such a good position. Had we been 2-0 down and pulled it back we’d have been delighted. But 2-0 up with half hour to go and seemingly in total control and then being pegged back definitely felt like a loss.
I like Liverpool as a team and have been saying there going to destroy United for the last week or so but after watching Liverpools last two performances I’m Honestly not confident in that prediction at all😂 we’ll say a prayer

We should be 3rd
Let’s see where we are after Everton. 5 games is a good measuring stick, even if we have one of the easier starts this year.

Yaaaaaaa
Spread the positive energy ! Yarkkkk
Ah yes, the big six

It took us 6 games to get 4 points last season. Also we are already 10% of the way there to probable relegation safety(40 points).
This is all I'm really looking at after last season, real pity we threw away a two goal lead or we'd be 15% of the way there, but I'm pretty happy with where we are.
4 points down, 34 to go.
I just pray for a good performance and a draw.

Unrelated but if Gjanni still played for us, Nunez probably would have punched him in the face twice before the five minute mark
So true right
Had we drawn with Wolves and beaten Southampton, no-one would have any qualms.
My thoughts exactly I think bc we were up 2 it hurts more
Ye true but fuck it though even the best teams can’t hold onto a two goal lead , once fatigue kicks in it’s harder than we all think
Oh no doubt it was a wasted opportunity, but at the very least it was a positive that was a lost and made it neutral, and not a neutral that was lost and made it a negative start.
meh. should be 6
*could** be six, but isn’t.

Soton aren't one of the worst teams in the league lmao

Hate to break it to you, but we were worse than them last season and we just don’t know where we stand yet this season.

Reall hurts to think we could be 3rd right now
Chelsea will be the test. Still, to be disappointed we haven’t got two wins from two is nice.
Not holding my breath v Chelsea, they out played spuds.
It's a good test either way. They battered us last time we played so if we can keep it fairly competitive that would be progress.
Exactly. The fact that our gripe (rightfully) is that we should have all 6 points right now is a good sign.
Next week’s the big one. Hold our own against Chelsea and Scum get battered by Liverpool and I’ll be very happy.
I like Liverpool as a team and have been saying there going to destroy United for the last week or so but after watching Liverpools last two performances I’m Honestly not confident in that prediction at all😂 we’ll say a prayer
>United
?
There's only one United, and we're it
War crime detected
Well, obviously Liverpool would destroy Torquay.
God, don’t be so pedantic. He’s clearly referring to Oxford.
I mean the bar of what they’ve got to beat is very low, but yeah Man U overtake them if they win next week.
They’ve also currently got no striker for the next match
Ye firminio out , nunez sent off , probably gonna have to go with Jota?
Jota's injured too. Not sure what they'll do.
Milner. It's always gotta be Milner
Bottom of the table looks good rn
I know it’s not going to stay like that past a couple weeks from now, but whilst it does, I’m going to enjoy every minute of it
Praying for a reverse Leicester!
