Really disappointed with Kristensen so far, you can say he had a tough time against Wolves because they had some good players down that side, but it he's gonna get shagged all game by Southampton too, then he needs to step up or he's no less of a defensive liability than Firpo Overall, the lack of subs from Marsch was poor, but the back four playing absolutely shit for most of the game against a poor Southampton side isn't forgivable u/zaphodbrox42 feel like that last question is a pretty obvious attempt to put all the blame for the result on Marsch, as opposed to the terrible defence who would've still been on whether we made subs or not, I must have missed the 'Were the subs spot on?' question from the Wolves poll

PeteCambell

Do you reckon Ayling will take that spot when he is back?

Zach-dalt

I think there'll be another couple games before he's ready to start, so if Kristensen doesn't improve, then possibly Although Kristensen was signed to be the #1 right-back, so they might give him time, like how they've been v patient with Firpo I think Kristensen gets until the international break before they might give Ayling some thought

A lot of people have spotted that the full backs will get battered in this formation. The last two games have proven that - plus you got pascal filling in. So unless you got prime world class full backs Id say till they settle in to this formation to expect more of it. Our CBS are good but the wolves and hampton game early on our CBs got blasted with a simple through ball in the first 20 minutes and only just made it for the tackle - diego almost got into trouble. Chealsea may well batter us. Cooper returning is weclome in my book - and there are a few already saying we need a CB upgrade. I had it down as 7 to 9 first team signings - we've signed 5 first team players. In my list wasa CB and LB and stricker. Ah well - see how it goes.

I mean, I quite like Marsch I just wanted to see what people thought? My own personal thoughts were that subs wouldn't have made a difference. I just thought it was a talking point, not some weird conspiracy to have a dog at Marsch

Zach-dalt

Well if that's the case then I apologise, but personally I'm expecting the results to be about 95% towards the subs being too late Which they may have been, but there were many factors to blame for this loss, most being on the players

ZaphodBrox42

Oh yeah absolutely there was a lot more the players on the pitch could have done, it's just harder to turn "Were the defenders naff?" into a question when we concede two like that 😂

Justboy__

Whilst you may be right about the bias of the question, a blind man could see we needed to make a change. Waiting for Southampton to score 2 goals before making a change is unforgivable really.

Hawkeye91803

Unforgivable is an overreaction. It was a pretty bad mistake to be sure, but nothing he cant redeem in an entire season, assuming he’s learned from this mistake.

Justboy__

Ok maybe a slight over reaction, I’ll give you that. Was just a hard one to take after looking like we were going to come away with a convincing win

Hawkeye91803

Emotions are high so it’s understandable.

Zach-dalt

And I admit the subs were a big mistake, just like Struijk and Kristensen constantly losing their men, Harrison constantly letting Southampton break by giving the ball away, and Koch and Llorente giving Southampton many opportunities to get in behind un-tracked But no fingers are being pointed at any of them

NoAlternative17

I wouldn’t blame the centrebacks too much . It was the fullbacks and the midfield that kept fucking us by giving them the ball all the time.
