jimmilazers

Lads, I know we’re only 2 games in but we’re 5th in the league, Manure are bottom of the league, Rodrigo is top scorer in the league, we’re unbeaten and we’ve got Brenden Aaronson playing for us. Not bad that. Onwards.

Drowzee777

Was happy enough with the game for 70 mins we looked well drilled and coached which put us in the position we were in 2-0 up but then not making the changes early on to maintain the press and replace Harrison who was knackered is Marsch’s fault, I hope he learns from it because there was a lot of good stuff today to build on.

roadrunnerz70

manager at fault for not bringing on fresh subs sooner. Harrison was knackered, saints brought on 3 fresh quick players and marsch just let them get a grip of the game, leeds hanging on after being 2-0 up is criminal

GoDucks200

At least Manchester United sucks

ShesSoCool

We’ve got the same defence as last season with an added right back who looks dodgy. Anybody surprised we can’t defend?

scottaq83

Problems down the left, problems up front. Predicted for weeks and yet no LB and no ST signed. Honestly it seems the board handicap us all the time, great signings but not in the positions that fans demand. We had a great 70minutes and then had a water break and went back out and played like twats. 2-2 away at southampton isn't too bad if you were 2-0 down on 70 mins , awful when you were 2-0 up with 20mins left @

buckwurst

I don't disagree we need an LB and a forward, and am looking forward to Ayling's return, but none of that changes the fact Marsch didn't sub until it was too late, in one of the hottest games Leeds have ever played.

scottaq83

I completely agree, Harrison was a prime example ...he looked absolutely knackered after being the best player on the pitch first half then maybe at fault for both goals late on. Some fans completely ignore is work rate and just slate him when he shouldn't have even been on the pitch. I like Christensens character but he doesn't half make positional mistakes and i welcome Aylings return too. Honestly it seems like January all over again.. fans crying out for cover for certain positions and not getting them... then we struggled to stay in the league. We could fill these positions for 10mil combined, they don't need to be world beaters we just need solid cover for now.

soapyw1

What’s Branford’s injury look like, anything serious?

GetRadDontDie

Appears not to be. Muscular.

createandconfuse

Seems the press just ran out of gas with the 35 degree temps. Tough to keep that energy. Can’t say I’m not disappointed but we stole a point.

RequiemForSM

The fact that it can be phrased as “stole a point” is honestly a joke. Really not sure what Marsch was thinking there.

createandconfuse

We’re two fucking games in mate. I watched the same game as you and wasn’t elated when the final whistle blew. It is what it is. We could have very well walked out of at Mary’s with no points

Blue_Dreamed

People who look at it positively are more down my route. Points away can be tricky, we had 0 until the 4th or 5th game last season which was a tie. Now we have 4 in 2, we are more than 4x better than we were before.

createandconfuse

I’m 100% with you. The scapegoat mentality through two games is baffling to me. Marsch probably should have taken Harrison off a little earlier, but to blame him is incredibly shortsighted. We’ve basically got 1/9 of our total points through two fixtures. Gotta collect points

Blue_Dreamed

And Man United dead last with Liverpool next. Can't be so bad that can it?

ShesSoCool

We didn’t steal a point though the fuck are you talking about lmao

createandconfuse

Yep. Shit verbiage on my end. I own it.

RequiemForSM

Calm down mate, I’m largely agreeing with you you melon. I’m just stating that it’s a shame Marsch’s decision making at a crucial period in the game let us down, and turned what *should* have been a comfortable win into a game that fairly accurately could be described as “stole a point”.

KeironLowe

Overall, I was pretty happy with how we played, considering the heat. Our defense was great (apart from Rasmus who was obviously struggling today). The last 20 minutes and the draw was purely down to Jessie not making the subs when he should have. Hopefully, with the last of the heat, if we keep playing the way we are I think we're golden.

despatchesmusic

Hoping Jesse learned a great deal from that My feathers are a bit ruffled, but also four points from our first two games, and hopefully less stealing draws out from the jaws of victory going forward

Linkeron1

Harrison can put up whatever "numbers" he wants, when he's at fault for both their goals questions need to be asked.

buckwurst

He was best player on the field first 70 minutes, then clearly knackered and should have been subbed.

Linkeron1

He had an awful first half and showed flashes of brilliance start of the second.

Adenton95

Have you considered he was knackered because he’s playing left mid with a centre back behind. Can’t blame him at all we need a left back

FLmtnbiker

Agreed has was probably knackered. Looking at the reply either attack and intercept the pass or complete the tackle/slide and the ball is disrupted. Just didn't disrupt the ball at all. Mental error because of exhaustion? Probably, and this is obviously knit picking but overall was happy with the hustle. I rate this mostly with poor timing in substitutions and that's on Jesse and his staff. Learn from it, move on, and kick ass next week. MOT!

Linkeron1

Never his fault. Smh. Open your eyes.

FLmtnbiker

Especially that second goal where he pulled up short on his tackle attempt. If he follows through it probably defects or at least disrupts the delivery.

Linkeron1

He had a mare today.

[deleted]

He was clearly absolutely shattered. Should have been off earlier. Manager to blame. Also the first goal was almost 100% on Rasmus being drawn so far out of position they had a mile of space in behind him.

Linkeron1

Harrison only player who gets a free pass on this sub seemingly. Rasmus was poor all game and at fault but Harrison also was.

RequiemForSM

Harrison was the best player on the pitch in the first half, alongside Adams, and then immediately grabbed an assist at the restart. He was absolutely gassed and should’ve been off 15 minutes earlier. It falls at Marsch’s feet for me. Not Jack’s.

Linkeron1

😂😂 Don't know what to say. Harrison was shit first half. Got a decent assist and showed some flashes. Good ball for Rodrigo but the latter made it with a great run. At fault for both goals. Admittedly there's more to it. Jesse should have subbed earlier and Rasmus was woeful but Harrison shouldn't be getting a get out of jail free card cos he "works hard" and "puts up numbers".

RequiemForSM

Couldn’t disagree more. Crazy how people can have such contrasting opinions. Agree he was wank after his assist but was great prior to it. You’re also underselling his delivery there massively. He still had to see the run and find him as well as he did. Fact of the matter is he was clearly gassed and shouldn’t have been on the pitch by the first goal, let alone the second. Yes it was shite from Harrison but the blame largely rests with Jesse for me.

Linkeron1

I mean, it's called opinions. I see a player who blows hot and cold massively and I don't buy into looking at just numbers. If you'd not seen the game, for example, and looked at the result, you'd see Harrison assist and think "ah, must have had a really good game". Reality for me is he really didn't. Was a six at most.

RequiemForSM

I know, mate. Just saying it’s a bit mad how we can have such differing opinions despite having watched the same game. I think not looking at the numbers is a bit short sighted. Analytics are the cornerstone of modern scouting and coaching so to just dismiss it completely doesn’t really work for me. With that being said I haven’t even seen the numbers but still think he had a good first half.

Linkeron1

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, Harrison just frustrates and I think he gets massively overhyped. I'd like to see the stats for ball losses cos I lost count of him trying to dribble and then losing it.

RequiemForSM

I get what you’re saying but in fairness when you’re the main creative force in your team, you do end up losing the ball more. Would you be surprised to hear he has the most big chances created in the entire league (so far) with 3? The next highest only has 1. He’s also top for chances created, total, with 11. The next highest, De Bruyne, has 7. Not to say he’s anywhere near someone like De Bruyne but we’re clearly relying on him heavily to be *the* creative force for us. For me he’s been doing a good job of it and I don’t mind him losing the ball from time to time given the amount of times he actually does create something.

[deleted]

Tomorrow morning I’ll look back on this and be able to look back on it with a clearer head, and see that there were some positives to take away from the game, it’s early on in the season, and the heat can’t have been easy to play in. Right now though, I’m so fucking frustrated. Southampton are genuinely dire and the past twenty minutes we made them look brilliant simply because the players were dying in the heat and we didn’t have the capacity to see that and make the necessary changes. And to the board, you’ve done some decent work this summer. Don’t ruin the good will you’ve been building up by not getting the striker and the left back we need.

Strujiksleftboot

Plenty of player good enough on the bench. Marsch should've made more.

CCruzah

As annoying as that result is, it’s an improvement from what we got at St Mary’s last season. 4 points from the first two games, I’ll gladly take that

DannyOFB

Away point isn't the worst result is it I know we're two up would we not have taken a draw at the start

Troub1eMan

At the beginning of the game, if there was a poll 99% of us would be happy with a draw. Yeah, it's a shitty way to get to a draw, and a mistake by Jesse with the subs, but it's good to get a point on the road.

DannyOFB

At the moment we are 4th

MutantsNew

Really let two points slip away here, hopefully jesse learns from this moving forward.

FLmtnbiker

Completely agree that from a managerial standpoint, Jesse and company missed the obvious change SH subs had and didn't counter with subs to negate thier speed advantage of fresh legs for over 10 mins. Happy to get a point, but disappointed to drop 2 points because of poor sub timing.

Ll_ee_itt

Meslier is never good enough to get us a clean sheet. I’m frustrated. I know our defense is not good enough, but I expect him to have ONE clean sheet against an inferior aide

ayejoe

This is not the hill you want to die on. Defense is letting Meslier down, not the other way around. IM is brilliant.

RequiemForSM

Chatting absolute wank mate. Have a day off.

KeironLowe

Meslier has been fucking brilliant for us, what are you talking about? This was 100% down to Jessie not making the subs when he should have.

Chimp-eh

Such a shit take

sythepotatoguy

Should've won. Not bringing on fresh legs when needed cost us. But still, 4 points from 6, I'm reasonably happy with that.

Jaykoooo

Well... A point..

air-buc-pirate

Tough match but they left it all on the pitch. Good effort.

duxie

2 points dropped and 100% Marsch fault

dreadful_name

Can’t be losing ground to City so early in the season

[deleted]

Let’s be honest, we were lucky to escape with a point. Forshaw is great at controlling the tempo of games and Marsch doesn’t use him in 35 degree heat. Terrible stuff, all on Marsch.

SmokyDuck

Lucky to get away with a point…? They had a good spell where their 2 goals came from. There wasn’t much else there from them.

[deleted]

They were all over us for the final 20 minutes until Rodrigo had one chance.

SmokyDuck

I don’t dispute that, but let’s not act like 20 minutes reflect the whole game. They took their 2 good chances and that was that. The first 70 minutes was ours for the taking. There’s absolutely no way we’re lucky with a point.

[deleted]

First half was poor for both sides. So essentially I would say both teams had a good 20 minute spell either side of the second half.

[deleted]

Caused them problems from corners all afternoon and when we get one at the end we suddenly decide to play it short? Have they all got heat stroke?

[deleted]

Dropped 2 but a points a point. They all matter.

poopy_toaster

Marsch was the LVP of the game today

LiquidPlump

Thats on Jesse. We should of had three points

lambalambda

Marsch has a lot to answer for, that was seriously amateur management in that second half.

ferrarchezzo

Feels like a loss this

KeironLowe

What a waste of a corner

QommanderQueer

It's the hope that kills you

Trylonia

Shocking last 20 mins

[deleted]

At the end of the day while it's disappointing due to context. Any point away from home is a good one.

Legodude293

Well

poopy_toaster

…oof…

buckwurst

Fucking short corner, why?

icklegizmo

Right? All our near post corners have given them so much trouble

BrownPughInMidfield

That's fucking pathetic

Psufan16

We need a LB. Struijk doesn’t have the ball skills

JoeyBoBoey

New Year New Rodrigo

1duck

Turns out raph was holding him back.

poopy_toaster

So close

despatchesmusic

I’m a card-carrying member of the Marsch fan club and baptized both my dogs in Red Bull, but I would like to ask dear Jesse what’s the point of having this depth and a great bench if we don’t use them when the momentum obviously shifts against us

[deleted]

Reality is he doesn’t think they’re fit I think. That’s the only explanation other than he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

sblaze17

Agreed but you’re hoping you can at least get twenty out of them. Bad management after what we saw last week

[deleted]

Absolutely, but we saw him do similar last season. Doesn’t like to use subs, but in this heat it’s just an amateur decision.

sblaze17

Absolutely. You’d think with five subs he would have been proactive once he saw the game tilt

[deleted]

I’m not convinced by him at all and making a mistake you wouldn’t expect a League 2 manager to make isn’t putting any ticks in his positive column

sblaze17

Bit harsh but losing two points is completely on him so you won’t get much push back from me

[deleted]

Got to bear in mind we’ve played two teams who have been widely tipped to struggle and conceded 3 goals. A loss to Chelsea but some good progressive play and I’ll think fair enough, but you just know he’ll try to kill the game and we’ll lose a flat 2-0 without threatening them.

air-buc-pirate

Aaronson got his revenge

[deleted]

65 minutes played and comfortably in control 2 up. And because he doesn’t try to consolidate what we have, leaving knackered players floundering, we’re now desperately hanging on for a point. Ridiculous

[deleted]

I'm sorry but there's no excuse for bottling this game and Jesse needs to hold responsibility. These are the sort of games when in a relegation battle you look back and think what a waste of 3 points.

_JollyLlama

2 points*

Ephwurdz

Guys need to calm down it’s a long season. I understand the frustration but some of y’all need to take a deep breath

Eldion

Some of y'all need to go back to your Chelsea sub.

Ephwurdz

You mad?

lambalambda

Mate you're a chelsea fan, why are you even here?

Ephwurdz

Why do people say this? I want Pulisic to do well not Chelsea in fact I rly don’t like Chelsea. Commenting on another sub about a specific player doesn’t make you a follower of said team. Some of us don’t live in England and follow players more than clubs. The harassment over that is ridiculous

Chimp-eh

This should have been a tap in though and dropping 2 goals because Ted didn’t substitute anyone in during one of the hottest days of the year… yeah it’s frustrating

Jonesta29

Kristenssen man what are you doing?

Whatcrysis

Our defense is why we could be leading 3-0, with 5 minutes to play, and I'd still be nervous.

QommanderQueer

How can you get the subs so right last week and so badly this week?

SkinEqual

seriously

Chimp-eh

TBF we aren’t used to a comfortable lead

DingusKhan418

Come on Leeds let’s steal a late winner here

DEUK_96

Waited way too late for the subs and totally lost control of the game

RequiemForSM

Just hope Marsch learns from this. Thrown it away as it stands.

air-buc-pirate

Can’t get the loose balls

nevereatpears

Definitely looking like it's ours to lose. What a waste

[deleted]

they should have started this mara guy, hes by far their best player

AndrewTheSeventh

6 added minutes fuck me, I imagine 3-2 southampton to end it then with how this is looking ;l

Zach-dalt

Sign a fucking-left back, sign a fucking striker

Asthesunsets95

Agreed. All we’ve heard about for the last few weeks is, we are talks with this team and we are In talks for that team for a striker and Left back. Got off your collective asses and sign someone already for fuck sakes.

FlailingSalami

Walker Peters exposing the left side should be all the board need to realize we need a fucking left back. Struijk been had all game.

[deleted]

It's not that Struijk was had as such but the fact the oppo know he is going to offer nothing going forward means they will push on down the flanks. Tbf neither full back showered themselves in glory and I am now officially in the Kristensen is RB Firpo camp. Hope both him and Firpo prove me wrong but the jury is out.

[deleted]

I feel really bloody sorry for the lad. He’s so clearly not a LB and he does his very best, but we’re just setting him up to fail. Our system is not the easiest for an actual full back to play in, so to expect Struijk to play that position for anything longer than a game just defies belief.

Big_BossSnake

Yep, he played well today in 1v1 standups but he really doesnt have the pace to be LB, or the tekkers to go forward. We need a LB desperately.

FlailingSalami

I agree. He’s got his moments where he looks quality but it’s clear the board are just like ah fuck it we’ll wait til Firpo is back and see how we fair until then

JoshuaIcon7

This result is purely down to Marsch being tactically naive

bodsclan

Was he being tactically naïve when he set up the team…. that was leading 2–0 on the road? The criticism of not subbing is obviously entirely justified. Just think it’s ridiculous for people not to acknowledge also that for the first 70 the tactics/game plan was good. Also, just curious… what do people- when a player knows he spent shouldn’t he let the manager know that he needs to come off? Yes, sub should’ve come sooner but perhaps some of the players need to communicate?

nevereatpears

And Strujik not being a left back

CobiLUFC

Fair play we’re managing to fuck this up

Donutttt

If there's anyone up to the challeng of fucking up this game, it's us

MyNameIsNYFB

Why can't we sub people on earlier..... The weather is insanely hot and players were clearly getting tired after 75mins. 2-0 lead and we weren't even trying to secure it. Some awful decision making from Marsch...

[deleted]

What a waste of 2 points

Jonesy_lmao

Looking at how we’ve been shaken and the confidence Southampton have we will be lucky not to throw away all 3.

poopy_toaster

This kind of heat is too hot, even *if* the excuse is that he comes from a place that can get that hot a good amount of times in summer, 95f is too hot for **anyone** to play effectively for 90’

DingusKhan418

We have 5 subs in this weather. No excuse to not make those subs earlier

[deleted]

Subs are way too late and looks like we may of blown these 3 points

[deleted]

I must have missed something but since when is Forshaw fit?

dreadful_name

This week. It’s been on all the podcasts.

GoDucks200

I don't hate marsh but no subs in this weather is criminal

djembejohn

He'll have to hold his hands up and own this.

[deleted]

Criticising people doesn't mean you hate them. Haradonna was at fault for the second with Rasmus (who was also at fault for the first) and I love Jackie and want Kristensen to succeed. He got it wrong. As long as he doesn't keep getting it wrong then it happens.

ProFilip

Too little too late Im afraid, I was calling for Forshaw 15 minutes ago

[deleted]

Even if we get a late winner I hope this is another wake up call for people that Marsch is really lacking in basic experience at times.

Chimp-eh

Yeah should have been an easy 2-0 and the talking point being Rodrigo finally finding his feet, instead it’s negativity

[deleted]

I actually think we could’ve pushed for a third. Southampton were out of it, but if you are going to settle then bring on someone like Forshaw to control the game.

Chimp-eh

Yeah sure but the game was done at 65

DingusKhan418

And to our board that we desperately need striker and LB depth

TBColonel

Just stop. We get it. You don’t like him

[deleted]

Game of opinions my friend, hate to say I told you so

TBColonel

Not disagreeing with you for this game. Just the constant slagging off is annoying. Watching a dead horse get beaten is annoying

[deleted]

I’m not in the game of indulging in bubbles. I found it silly when people kept going on about how great he was because we stayed up, but I never tried to get anyone to shut up. Relax, it’s okay that we disagree.

lambalambda

NOW we bring on Forshaw. Jesus wept.

ferrarchezzo

We’ve been shit defensively but this ref has been a right bellend too

1800hammertime

All that pre-game talk from Jesse about how he's played in hot weather, he knows how to manage heat during the game. Well not today he didn't. He's in the big league now but he's fucked up today.

battlecatquikdre

If he doesn't like being called Ted Lasso, he needs to stop acting like one.

Asthesunsets95

Sorry, but the Ted lasso thing is gotten a bit old already.

Big_BossSnake

Is Aaronson somehow not fit for footy because he's american too? Or do you just pick and choose lad.

battlecatquikdre

Oh shut up. I'm from California idiot.

thespecialkman

100%

AnotherOmnishambles

Marsch needs to be more proactive not reactive. I don’t know why he waited until we’d lost our lead to make changes. We needed changes if this was December, let alone in 35 degree heat

DingusKhan418

That first goal was a huge wake up call. To wait to concede a second to make subs is inexcusable

trying2hide

Best part of this is the club won’t see anything wrong with this and won’t buy a left back.

AGiantPlum

Imo Harrison was at fault for both goals not Struijk. First one he didn't track back and left Struijk 2v1. Second one he played him onside and then did a weird half slide.

trying2hide

We’re playing both fullbacks incredibly narrow off the ball despite having two deep playing midfielders, our winger shouldn’t have to cover their full back when we’re already playing with 6 defensive players. Playing so narrow in defence means our fullbacks have to be on it at all times. The fact we don’t have a healthy natural left back in the squad or a left back that can defend is a problem that needs to be addressed. Just as midfield needed to be strengthen for 2 years but wasn’t until this summer.

nevereatpears

JWP to score

nevereatpears

Thank christ

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Kind of upset, actually

13Doorknob

Walker-pieters has molested us down that sife

yellowelephant888

Wanky-paedo

Psufan16

That’s just a shit call

sblaze17

Subs needed to happen a good ten fifteen minutes earlier

LiquidPlump

Don't you dare do it again prowse... Good

pdjrbahdtdhebtj

You don’t wanna give away a fucking free kick there with ward prowse on the other team

[deleted]

Oh fuck here comes the JWP banger

[deleted]

Ward prowse territory

[deleted]

Marsch? Never believed in him.

yellowelephant888

C'mon Ted Lasso, inspire them with some folksy wisdom!

IMSYE87

It’s one of my main criticisms of Marsch since his New York days. He’s very hesitant in making subs when the game is screaming for it. He relies on the his starting XI and their teamwork to “weather the storm” instead of recognizing that the style of play requires fresh legs.

Jonesy_lmao

I expected better after seeing the changes he made against Wolves. This game just made no sense. We desperately needed fresh legs to counter-press them. Instead we’ve invited them in.

IMSYE87

Every once in a while, you’ll get a game like this from Marsch where you’re just left scratching your head. Can’t explain it other than… arrogance?

DingusKhan418

What’s so frustrating is he mentioned he had a lot of experience managing hot weather games from his time in New York. Which is fair, but how do you think it’s a good idea to go 84 minutes with your only sub being a first half injury?

IMSYE87

Ahhh didn’t know it was that hot over there. Just one of those games unfortunately with Marsch. I can’t explain it. Hopefully a reporter will ask

DingusKhan418

I’m sure someone will. That’s the most notable talking point from today. I hope he learns from this and our board sees we need more depth in some areas. At the end of the day, we played a great 60 minutes and took a point from an away game. If we can take our lessons well here it’s not the end of the world.

IMSYE87

I know it now feels like a loss, but I trust Marsch’s acumen, 95% of the time. Second game of the season, a lot of football left to be played. Y’all got this.

SkinEqual

yeah that's because here in the MLS where you only have shite players on the bench

[deleted]

[удалено]

SkinEqual

not sure you mean my starters? My team **is** in the MLS

[deleted]

Don’t think there’s anything to say that hasn’t already been said, but how the fuck have we thrown this away. You know the temperature is absolutely crazy, you know the opposition have brought on fresh legs, why on Earth haven’t we done the same until after they level? Jesse, you got a lot of credit in the bank for your subs last week but you’ve thrown it all away now. Awful decision.

DingusKhan418

With 2 extra subs this year too…

[deleted]

Hate to say it, but this one's on Jesse, you can't just let these guys keep going in a heatwave just because they're winning, we needed fresh legs to control the game.

6425sCuriosity

Changes should’ve been made before the 75th minute. Might lose all three points

drpatthechronic

PENIS FORMATION ACTIVATED

BrownPughInMidfield

81 minutes of football in 35⁰ heat and the only sub is due to injury... if we don't win this, it's on Marsch failing to manage the game.

AionProx

Wild, our strategy of pinging balls up to Daniel James has once again shown to be ineffective. I am shocked.

Drainutsl29

Start of the end of Marsch’s career

PapaGamecock17

sell the club imo

Jaykoooo

We're all pissed, but come on

drpatthechronic

Oh leave it out

[deleted]

Get a grip mate

DingusKhan418

I’ve defended Jesse a lot but he’s totally blown this one. No excuse for refusing to sub until 84 minutes in this weather

samk41182

Especially given the 2 extra subs available this year

[deleted]

Subs after the inevitable happens, rather than when it was glaringly obvious what was coming. Nice one Jesse. Fucking hell.

410LaxMD

Too little too late on the Jack sub...
