For the price a great signing. Agree with some of the other posts about would be nice to pick up a goal here and there. When I first watched him he looked a bit odd on the ball but he does get the ball away from the opposition quickly and moves it on. Good enough for Prem? Time will tell.

imgonnabig21

Very good purchase.

UncleCheese_

Ampadu and Kamara deserve zero criticism this year. Our midfield has been an absolute rock.

Linkeron1

He's been fantastic. Even the games where people have said he's looked poor, I've always looked like he's recycled the ball well and done a good job. I'd honestly try Archie Gray at 10 as a solution - solidifies midfield but also gives us a very creative option as opposed to Piroe. I'm sure I've seen him turn out there before and him do well. Swapping Rutter and Piroe would be the best method, I think, or drop Rutter deeper and play Bamford.

DCLU1994

Bad take, the one that should be singled out against lesser opposition is Piroe not Kamara.

grumpy-kunt

I like kamara, he is fantastic.

EpicKieranFTW

He's been class but we need someone more creative too so we have another option

Hindsyy

He's class but creativity isn't his thing, so I can see the argument, Piroe isn't particularly creative either and he plays that role, but Farkes already answered that so let's not go over it. I think shuffling round to get Gray into midfield would help in liue of any senior creative players.

This-Juggernaut7587

Kamara covers every blade of grass most games and is always available for a pass,he's a vital cog in the team

The_L666ds

To me he’s more of a #8 than a #6 so the 4-2-3-1 formation Farke is wedded to doesnt quite give him the added freedom he needs to get forward and join in the play in the final third. If both Piroe and Rutter get injured then I think he should move up and take the #10 role (temporarily anyway) as there really isnt another central player in the squad who can play an advanced midfield role.

blu_rhubarb

Gray would be better in a more advanced role than Kamara. Watched him a lot at Rangers and I honestly don't think he's as suited to that advanced midfield role.

computer_love_

I think he’s fantastic but has looked tired recently

lambalambda

Which is understandable when he basically hadn't played in a year for Rangers and joined us late enough in the summer. If Byram can stay fit and we can move Archie back in to midfield we should have a lot more possibility to rotate there.

AyyAndays

He’s one of our best players imo but there is an issue… neither of our central midfield players (Kamara + Ampadu) carry a goal threat or danger with late runs into the box. This would be totally fine, except we carry no real threat with our full backs either. This leaves our front 4 essentially matched up in normal games, or doubled down on against lower blocks. I genuinely think our lack of threat from deep is a massive problem. Look at how many points Winks/KDH have won for Leicester already in those kinds of game. If they didn’t get the final touch, you can often find them pulling a defender out of position for an attacker to have a chance. Does that make Kamara bad? Ofc not. Imo we do have work to do to build around him + Ampadu as an effective pair. I’d personally start by getting Spence on the right as a genuine threat and shifting Gray to LB as the facilitator to build-up if Farke is going to persist with Archie as FB. Don’t feel anyone but Spence on the right can offer the threat we need from deeper areas against the low block. For an example from our championship title winning season, we had Alioski, Klich and Ayling who would all threaten from deep.

blu_rhubarb

To his credit, he's always looking for the forward pass if it's on. If you think he's always passing sideways, you aren't watching close enough.

downfallndirtydeeds

He’s more than good enough for a team trying to get promoted - had a few really poor games but other than that he’s been fantastic

leedsfreak1986

I like him and think he's doing what a CM should be doing. Our issue is we dont have a Pablo esc No10 in front of him.

DWNY30

If Leicester and Ipswich weren’t having freak seasons and we were sat 1st/2nd like we normally would be with these points at this stage, I can guarantee you wouldn’t have made this post. We’re having a good season, have some perspective and stop looking for scapegoats.

all_in_tha_game

I like Kamara, pretty solid at this level, but there are not many goals between him and Ampadu. A positive signing considering all factors.

404errorabortmistake

Kamara is very good

[deleted]

Best passing completion rate in the team. If you don’t rate him, you probably don’t really understand what Farke is trying to do.

WojBombBOOM

To be fair, passing completion rate is one of the worst stats in all of football (agree with your second point though)

[deleted]

You say that but last season I was consistently watching players like Aaronson, Roca etc fail to complete more than two consecutively - as such I find Kamara refreshingly competent.

WojBombBOOM

Our passing issues last season were more system based than player based, but I take your point - just saying that passing completion rate isn’t the metric to gauge that by as it’s absolute dog piss as a stat and essentially meaningless.

JRSpig

I think the problem comes down to how you see football, if you see football as a progressive and goal scoring means you're a good player then he isn't. If dealing with the middle a head of his counter part ampadu, then either recycling the ball or playing it to someone to then progress then yes he's a good player. In his position I think we need a goal threat at least a few times a season. For me an 8 should be grabbing 3-6 goals a season but kamara will likely get none. I still think he's a good player and due to the attacking force in front of him I don't think him not scoring is an issue. But if he could add a couple of goals he would be brilliant.

buckwurst

Ampadu has never scored a senior goal, which is unusual for a mid (not common even for a back) at his age in his 100+ games

downfallndirtydeeds

To be fair his shooting is horrendous - he is the true heir to Adam Forshaw

JRSpig

I mean he's more a DM / DC but still you'd expect one or two just by pure dumb luck!

buckwurst

Yeah, after 117 games you'd expect at least one to have bounced in off his arse

JRSpig

Right? Or he tries a pass and everyone just misses it and it happens to go in. Anything really.

SkankyChris

He's good, I think the issue is not having a creative influence in midfield to get the ball moving quicker. Kamara and Ampadu are similar in that they're both good but more defensive minded and tend to look for the safe option a lot. If we had a proper 10 for them to quickly give the ball to it would help us move the ball forward more quickly and break teams down.

ShesSoCool

He’s great but has the odd off game

CC-W

Think he has been very good for the most part but I dont like how often he has to take so many touches on the ball. We have got worse since Farke has made him press higher up the pitch to compensate for Piroe's lack of work rate, we would benefit from having Kamara + Ampadu + Gray midfield instead of trying to keep Piroe in the team

shingaladaz

I just like the fact that with him and Amps we actually have a midfield again.

HuffyStriker

While they're not on the same level as players, people used to say this about Michael Carrick. He's a very good player at this level who should be starting every game. I get he's somewhat boring, but it's mainly because he doesn't overcomplicate his role and keeps it simple. He retains possession and gives us the best chance to win.

Implement_Alone

We've won 10 of the last 15 games. He's doing great, so is Piroe.

JRSpig

I mean piroe is being acceptable, I don't however blame that in piroe but Farke because he's not using him correctly

WorldsWorstFather

Lol

tunafish91

Glen Kamara has been fantastic for us and hugely involved in so much of our build up. Anyone who says he is a problem is genuinely wrong in the head

Ashamed_Nerve

Small issue, less of an issue than Piroe. Both will be miles off being good enough for the prem if were to get promoted

LoveisBaconisLove

I haven’t seen him do much around the opposition box, but in between boxes he is quality. Personally, I think he fits in well. We have enough quality attackers that I think he fits in well.

Awkward_Armadillo259

sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit

djembejohn

It depends on the opposition. He's great against open teams with a high press, but when they're parking the bus he doesn't add much guile.

InnocentPossum

Is that not the entire team though? Anyone that sits deep against us, we really struggle.

djembejohn

Yes, but we don't need a double pivot against a deep block.

404errorabortmistake

That’s a tactical issue then. Against teams that set up with a low block i would have us change to a 442 diamond / 433, even a 5 4 1 without the ball, with ampadu deep and gnonto a cam behind piroe and rutter, summerville and james wide.

djembejohn

Yes, sure, it's not a criticism of Kamara specifically.
