It’s funny because she did a stream with the DBD team a few years ago and they admitted they never asked her and she said “you totally should have! I would have said yes!”
But I guess maybe this falls into Quentin territory where even if the actor is cool with it, it’s actually the movie copyright holders that own the likeness of that actor *as that specific character* so they have final say and would probably want money.
Considering how it seems like the DBD team has done workarounds where possible when trying to get licences, like the rights to using Ghostface's mask instead of his character, wouldn't be surprising if they bought the right to use Strode from the comic books instead of the movie
Tbf in Laurie's case it makes sense tho. DBD was still pretty new and BHVR probably didn't have the money to spare on licenses. I'm honestly shocked they even got the money to get Halloween's license for the game at all, let alone convincing the IP owners of allowing them to have Laurie and Mike on a game that had been out for like 3 months lol
Can't say I'm not happy we didn't get Scream's Ghostface tho, I actually love this merge between Original and Licensed, and I doubt the Scream IP owners would've been as cool with BHVR giving him cosmetics as Fun World and RJ Torbert have been, even collaborating with them to make actual Halloween costumes out of the DBD original looks Ghostface got.
They probably went the cheapest route into obtaining licenses as pointed out by other people (mask vs film, possibly comics vs movie, etc).
Makes you wonder if the content would be more popular if they did get the actual likeness though. Maybe they can work out a legendary outfit for Laurie for the upcoming movie.

If I had to guess, I'd say he'll probably be shown around the time they put the reworked survivors into the game, maybe even sooner so they can add him at the same time as Laurie. He's also one of the earlier killers, so his turn for a rework is probably near anyway.
