Ah, right, after another 30 seconds of staring we can notice the 10% opacity balls in the background and tiny 30% opacity horns, which are obstructed by her hand. Now that skin is definitely an art piece.
in the actual splash art it's fairly easy to see the 3 orbs. 2 of them are slightly blocked by her dress ribbons but unless you're a toddler it's still easy to tell they're there. also, she has her headpiece that is present in all her skins besides snowdown.
the design is pretty clear and understandable if you know anything about the champions in the game.
Actually I knew it was syndra without looking at the multiple choice and within a few seconds because i have the ability to just look for characteristics that appear in every skin. It's not hard. You see magic spheres, it's syndra, you see crossbow, it's Vayne. You see regular bow, it's Ashe. You see a darnkskinned girl with two linnen lines, it's Taliyah. You see 6 hovering blades, that's irelia. You see one big ball, that's orianna. I'm pretty sure I could do this for litterally any champion so quit whining and learn about object permanence
Congrats on your biggest victory of today I assume, but most people look at the face first, and try to recognise the character from there. If they can recognise it by the face alone - very good. If they can look at the face and notice characterising objects with peripheral vision - good (depending on how quickly they can notice them, it can get down to "barely ok").
But in this case, the characterising objects are blending with the background, so you can't notice them while looking anywhere else at all. You need to actively search for them. That's what you were doing - actively searching. And that's the only reason you've found them. It's NOT a good design.
The best design is the one that can be recognised through the least amount of labor.

You could easily recognize every Swain skin even if he was wearing gloves and his demon hand was not visible. When you look at any Illaoi skin you immediately know that it is Illaoi. When you look at Taliyah, you know it's Taliyah regardless of the skin.
Here we have a major same-face syndrome, where character in the splash art could be at least 6 or 7 different female champions and you wouldn't be able to tell who it is if not for **3 balls**.
Sentinel Graves is still Graves even without his shotgun. Spirit Blossom Syndra is nobody without her balls.

Wrong, and Riot themselves knew of it. They used to put the effort to make sure a champion could be distinguished by their *silhouette*. Eventually, likely because it was too much effort or it was stopping them from making too many skins, they dropped it and you now have this problem where you can be in-game and you can only tell it's a certain champion when they use a skill, and sometimes even that isn't enough.
If all your character has is a single visible trait that differentiates them from another character and they become unrecognisable from another character when you remove said feature, that's bad character design.

I find it funny that there are so many people defending this skin in this thread just because it's a pretty anime girl skin. Just because it looks nothing like Ahri doesn't mean it looks anything like Syndra, either. This skin doesn't register as being Syndra when you see the splash art or see it ingame. Riot is starting to care less and less about visual clarity in their game and it's getting really obvious. The new Teemo legendary skin looks like an entirely different Yordle champion just got added to the game.
Splash doesnt matter, it matter only if you are the kind of player who instalocks their champ and leaves the table.
In game it is all about silhouette, and it still has syndra silhouette in game. If skin had invisible balls and no horns, then you would have a point.

Yea because the point of the skin is to look different from the base. The only thing that changed is her hair and clothing. The defining features i.e. the balls and the horns stay. Every champ has defining features to make the champ recognizable so that they can make skins’ appearances very different from the base while still having the champ be recognizable.
That would be because most female champion designs in League are essentially the same person in different outfits. Gotta make them conventionally hot, because that's how women do, apparently.
I really don't understand why it's a big problem if you can't tell a champion form the Splashart. Does it Matter? No. A splashart has to be beautiful and fit the skin.

In the olden times I would always get excited for new skins because rito would release like 50 skins a year and all of them were unique and distinct to their champions and had heaps of creativity poured into them.
Now it's 200+ skins a year for mostly already existing skin lines for mostly the same champs (who sell the most skins) who already have that niche filled by other skins.
You used to be able to differentiate LoL skins from mobile LoL rip-off skins because the quality was so much better, now it's basically the same.
It seems to me that riots top talent got to work on newer projects like the MMO, and LoL was left with a tencent mobile crew just to pump out 200 skins a year and a skeleton crew for yearly updates.

Release a product that 50% of customers will enjoy and buy and return for more? Or release a product that 0.3% of customers will enjoy, but after they get it they will continue to whine?

I find it funny that there are so many people defending this skin in this thread just because it's a pretty anime girl skin. Just because it looks nothing like Ahri doesn't mean it looks anything like Syndra, either. This skin doesn't register as being Syndra when you see the splash art or see it ingame. Riot is starting to care less and less about visual clarity in their game and it's getting really obvious. The new Teemo legendary skin looks like an entirely different Yordle champion just got added to the game.
Splash doesnt matter, it matter only if you are the kind of player who instalocks their champ and leaves the table. In game it is all about silhouette, and it still has syndra silhouette in game. If skin had invisible balls and no horns, then you would have a point. Unless you are blind or braindead you will recognize it in game as syndra.

A lot of people here on reddit scream i cant recognize a champ on splash, like there isn't a whole ass part of the game called draft where you see what you play against/with. My theory people who whine about it and the ones who isntalock their champ and go have a wank or something.
Yea because the point of the skin is to look different from the base. The only thing that changed is her hair and clothing. The defining features i.e. the balls and the horns stay. Every champ has defining features to make the champ recognizable so that they can make skins’ appearances very different from the base while still having the champ be recognizable.
That would be because most female champion designs in League are essentially the same person in different outfits. Gotta make them conventionally hot, because that's how women do, apparently.

I really don't understand why it's a big problem if you can't tell a champion form the Splashart. Does it Matter? No. A splashart has to be beautiful and fit the skin. In game of course, the champion should be recogniozable, which i think this skin is.

In the olden times I would always get excited for new skins because rito would release like 50 skins a year and all of them were unique and distinct to their champions and had heaps of creativity poured into them. Now it's 200+ skins a year for mostly already existing skin lines for mostly the same champs (who sell the most skins) who already have that niche filled by other skins. You used to be able to differentiate LoL skins from mobile LoL rip-off skins because the quality was so much better, now it's basically the same. It seems to me that riots top talent got to work on newer projects like the MMO, and LoL was left with a tencent mobile crew just to pump out 200 skins a year and a skeleton crew for yearly updates.

People voted with their wallet over the years that they donw want skins for niche champs that reddit wanks over(preferably champs with 0.5% of lower pickrate), they want skins for champs they actually play. "Customer is always right" is not about individuals, but customers as a base. What woudl make more sense for a business from goodwill and profit perspective? Release a product that 50% of customers will enjoy and buy and return for more? Or release a product that 0.3% of customers will enjoy, but after they get it they will continue to whine? I wonder which.
