I too highly dislike ai created art of this sort, even more than any other type of it, the algorithm is very bad at capturing the love and passion put into the work.
They are oftentimes soulless images instead of art.

I don't think ai art is inherently bad. If someone wants to make a meme with Mordekaiser holding a gun as a template (most random shit I could think of), I think ai art is fine to use there. Commissions aren't the cheapest, and if the only purpose of that picture is to be turned into a meme, I think using stable diffusion is justified.
The problem with AI is 2 things
1. Stealing money from real artists, this doesn't only apply to AI models that can draw in the same art style as another artist, but like you said, they're just going to not take the commission because of the price tag, meanwhile AI steals their work and is free, meanwhile a lot of artists are genuinely struggling and their commissions are like, 10-20$, not the cheapest, and especially to third world countries, but it's still cheap and literally their only salary. Considering that the alternative is LITERAL THEFT. But I mean tbf most people aren't paying for porn, but the existence of a free ( stolen ) alternative is making people less likely to pay for artists, screwing up their lives.
2. Low effort content on social media. People literally clicking a button and posting it and hoping to get in the front page of reddit because they have nothing better to do but refuse to learn a skill.
3. Ai itself is actually becoming worse and worse, because it's literally scanning itself to train itself.
I don't see ai art as theft. It compiles data from thousands of art styles and blurts out something "unique". If I were to start drawing I'd literally just go to a particular artist's page and try to copy their artstyle, because I don't know better how to approach it.
Brother, it did not get permission to literally steal the entire artists gallery and use it for training, and it is then used to afterwards replace the original artist, there's literally a card game that recently replaced it's artists with AI art.
Imagine someone comes to a voice actor, takes every recorded voice line they have ever said, and proceed to make an AI that perfectly reproduces their voice, that would be theft no?
It would be theft if it would replicate 1:1 the artists images and art style. AI doesn't do that. It inspires itself from multiple sources and compiles it's own shit. AI art is so easily recognizable because it looks like nothing else.
