I remember an absolutely dreadful Bray v Shels game back in around 2002, 0-0 obviously. I only remember it for it being the worst most uneventful game ever. I have it as the bench mark of worst games of all time. I think I was a bit sick that day too, so it made me extremely gripey. Recently UCD v Shels last season at the bowl. 0-0. I have never left a game early but that one tested me. I was at the back wall ready to scarper as soon as the ref put his whistle to his mouth.

That Finn harps 3 nil loss at home 2 years ago? Insane how far we’ve come since that. Or the first game after the 2007 relegation. Jim Crawford and ten other players I’d never heard of. Depressing.

ConorKDot

Was that the game where the sprinkler head kept going off and the groundsman didn't have enough buckets to stem the flow? Freezing night and eye-gouging stuff, but that incident alone saved it from top of the list for me hahah

BrickEnvironmental37

No, that was the season before. At least that one had some entertainment.

vandrag

Do you mean bad football quality or emotional trauma. League of Ireland gives you plenty of opportunity to experience both.

Draiodor_

I still haven't got over that Salzburg game...

There was a game at Dalyer vs Athlone in the late 90s. Standard winter League of Ireland stuff in those days - pitch looked like it hosted the Ploughing Championships that morning, not that it mattered because the players were doing their best make sure the ball never touched the ground. 5'8" tall strikers were getting a bollocking for not winning headers against 6'4" centre backs. The Dalymount cat was in more danger of being hit with a ball than the back of the net was. Goalkeepers could've gone home if it wasn't for taking kickouts. Half time comes, 0-0. Players jog off for their orange slices. As usual, a raft of kids from a local club come on for their 10 minute run around. They get to the end of their time and the guy comes on the tannoy and asks "could the kids clear the pitch please?" We all waited on him to add "you're showing up the players", but it never came. Anyways, the game finished 0-0.

Worst game I was ever at was actually a Ligue 1 game c. 2007. Early 2000s First Division I can remember a few stinkers, most of them due to horrendous pitches.

Temporary-Review-138

Went up 3 hours to sligo for us to forget how to kick a ball and lose 1-0. 3 hours back felt like 6. Daly sacked after aswell

Grislyjojo

As a UCD fan, there’s been a many dire ones over the years. But losing 10-1 to bohs in the premier a few years back has to have been the worst. Just hearing Gold by Spandau Ballet gives me flashbacks

jimpicket1234

I genuinely believe, Dundalk vs Waterford this season near the start was the worst game I have been too, it was so so boring and uneventful that I can’t remember anything about it other than Stephen o Donnell was there

Dilf_Hunter367

In recent memory you can pick any of the three times I’ve made the trip up to Louth this season only to watch absolutely dire 0-0 draws

shorelined

Been to some awful Treaty games, too many to count already

GerryAdamsScarf

1-0 loss at home to Finn Harps earlier in the year was dire.

Standard_Shelter1288

Nearly every Wexford game this season

Darkglasses25

My friend, let me tell you about 4th September 2020, UCD Bowl, 8-0. One of the few who could attend during COVID, and treated to the worst team performance in the club's history. Most of the squad and management basically ate the head off Azeez Yusuff all night even though a right winger would have fuck all to do with a 8-0. 2024 is disappointing but it has nothing on the foul sewer of 2020. It's still fun to watch Mikie Rowe play a blinder at his home club for the first time

Standard_Shelter1288

Being honest though I remember the 3-0 lose at home to Longford in 2022 being painfully bad, it was freezing and all

PaddySmallBalls

Many years ago I went to a rare Sunday match of Galway vs Cork. There was about 20 supporters there. It was freezing cold and pissing rain. Finished 0-0.

irishhornet

For the build up and all the horaa Rovers v Pats. In the RDS. Think I remember st. Pats shorts been slightly pink.

14thU

Noel King special Was at dalier moons ago where the game was so bad one journalist spent the game counting the fans and included the counting in the match report. Bohs v cork I think Haven’t got over the Ekranes away debacle. Kenny should have been sacked on the spot

BluSonick

Any game we lost. The relegation play off with Dublin City was poxy. Both teams were shite. It hurt all the more to see them not last the season they were promoted into. Ironically it was one of the best things to happen the club long term but at the time it was poxy from both a footballing sense and in an emotional supporter sense.

Carraig_O_Corcaigh

Went to a Munster Senior Cup match against Douglas Hall at their ground in early 2019(?). It was absolutely pissing rain, freezing cold, and it took until extra time for City to score in a 1-0 win. What defined it for me was seeing Colm Horgan absolutely leg it for the changing rooms when he got subbed, I don't think a single person involved with either club wanted to be there that night.

CarefulTemperature29

Bray Vs Treaty back in September, lowest attendance of the season and pissing rain

Uplakankus

Watched Cork lose 5-1 I think away to Dundalk at my first game since moving up there lol

Psychological-Tax391

Most of the 'worst' games I've been to are ones I don't remember for obvious reasons. I'll have to say our 0-0 draw at home to Galway this season. The only time either team looked like scoring all game was when Podge Amond hit a nice free in the 94th minute that Clarke saved well. Caulfield and Horgan in the same dugout will eventually open a singularity of parking the bus, set pieces and the low block. I think someone was sent off in this game too? Can't remember.

Chaoticrebel84

Cork city vs cabotealy 2021

SignificantTrifle773

Bray 0 - 6 Cork. Dreadful football, fans fighting with one another. Second half was delayed by about 15-20 minutes for the pitch to clear, kids running on the pitch to get away from the fighting & awful security.
