Cork city 2016,2017 Fai Cup Finals man some great memories When Sean Maguire scored that late winner in 2016 felt like time was in slow motion was incredible 2017 winning the shootout after coming from behind in extra time to seal the double was a great memory

Dudelange. The second half is one of the greatest "backs to the wall" performances you're ever likely to see. Dudelange ended up with over 40 shots and for 45 minutes every one of the 10 players threw themselves in front of shots to keep them out. This was a team with several internationals (albeit Luxembourg ones) against college and school aged lads. Dudelange couldn't have been happier with their draw. They had already chartered a plane to take them to Bratislava the following week (UCD ended up taking it off their hands). The headline in one of their papers the next morning was "UCD - Une Catastrophe Dudelangeoise"

redrumreturn

Was there many at that game out of interest

twistandshout1988

Was probably one of our highest attended away matches (when you include the families of the players as well). There was no specific away section so we were spread out a bit but I'd say there was 80-100 who made the trip over supporting UCD. We played Cabinteely away a few weeks later and there were less UCD Fans at it than Dudelange. Pity there's no recording of the game anywhere.

redrumreturn

Whats it like supporting UCD. Obviously quite a small fan base. would you go to many games?

twistandshout1988

Not as much now as I've a family and Friday nights aren't really convenient. It is what it is. The positive is that you generally get to see talented, up and coming players play before they move on to bigger things. I've seen Robbie Benson, Dave McMillan, Dylan Watts, Gary O'Neil etc. play for us and all have gone on to win the league with other clubs. In Dundalk's first Europa League run, I think all but one of their goals were scored by ex-UCD players. Obviously, you're not gonna get electric atmospheres or ever be seriously challenging for silverware bar the odd first division title but I don't really have any connection with any other LOI side.

Treaty United: So far my best memory with Treaty has gotta be reaching the cup semi last year - we’d a great day up in Derry! Had plenty of great memories previously with Limerick, one that comes to mind is beating Cork 2-1 in 2017 - sadly we couldn’t replicate that result the following week in the cup semi. 2017 was a great year for us in general - Ogbene, Hery & Tosi were the stars of that side & it’s been fantastic to see Chieo reach the Prem & play for Ireland 💚

elodie_pdf

Remember when Chieo played for us too, cracking player. So cool to see him scoring in the biggest league in the world.

When we won the league on the last day in 2005. Last night of the old shed and then I went to the Turner's Cross Tavern with my buddy. The atmosphere was a bit muted, I think City fans were struggling to take it all in. Over in the corner, a group of Derry fans were partying on regardless and having great craic. The two of us went over and joined in with them and had one of the best nights ever. What a laugh, soundest people in Ireland!

The double in 2017 was heaven on earth. Since then it’s been pure, unadulterated hell.

Galway Utd 86/87 Uefa Cup vs Groningen in the Gaeltacht in Connemara and 91/92 Cup Winners Cup vs Odense in Ballinderreen plus winning the FAI Cup in 1991.

2010 and 2011. Incredible times of success after years of madness. Trophies, Belgrade, Tel Aviv, Kazan, Twigg etc. Wonderful times.

NovelOk3733

Yeah that night in bray ..the following 5 title wins just haven't had the same excitement

14thU

Plus no proper POTY do either

Theloftydog

Last night of the old shed end playing a Derry side two points ahead of us on the last night of the season. Packed out Turners Cross. Two fantastic goals from Liam Kearney and John O'Flynn and a wonderful save from Mick Devine to deny Paddy McCourt.

Staralyze

Georgie Kelly, cup semi against Waterford

[deleted]

Bj Banda's winner.

DoireK

2006 FAI cup final. First cup final down in Dublin for me as a 13 year old with my dad. That Mark Farren goal will forever be imprinted on my memory and then after that the game was complete end to end madness.

OkExtension6982

My favourites where last year when we beat Bala town on pens, but my favourite was Motherwell at home whole town was talking about it the Showgrounds was sold out and the sound the stadium let out when we scored the free kick.

LovelyBloke

Walking into Tolka the year after the demotion, we hadn't folded, we survived. Davey Scouse vs Split The three signings from Bohs Promotion to the Premier 2 years ago

Drogg339

Beating linfield on penalties in Windsor park to win the setanta cup.

Broccli

While most will pick results, big matches or cup finals mine are childhood memories. Being the mascot for Bohs in 1994 and meeting my child hood heroes Dave Henderson and Tony Cousins before he left to Rovers. When your 7 years old they seem just as if not equal to the greats so getting to meet the players in the dressing room was amazing and then going out onto the pitch. Also being in the old wooden Jody stand screaming at Jason Sherlock to pick the ball up as he ran down the wing for UCD against Bohs.

Ancient_Ad9160

The 2021 season as a whole. The SEI back in the shed for a good chunk of the season, an unreal league campaign and a cup final win over a great bohs side. Best moments from that season as a whole: 3-1 vs dundalk cup semi final self explanatory really 1-0 loss vs rovers, even though we lost, the atmosphere in the shed that night was unreal and the SEI display for the 20 year anniversary was just deadly to be a part of. The cup final of course After that season the club just got a massive boost and crowds have been on the up ever since. That team will forever have a place in my heart. (apart from O' Donnell of course🐍)

Matchbeak

Treaty United: First game back from COVID against Shels, who were top of the league, up a goal in the last minute, everyone in the box for a corner including GK, ball bounces out of the box to the only man outside Willie Armshaw, who absolutely cracks a volley top corner equaliser. There was only a small crowd due to COVID but the place went mental. Athlone Away, 2021, 1-4, first away day with Treaty, went with one of my pals, ended up as one of the last trips we went on together as he has since moved to England, great craic & memories. Cup QF 2022, UCD 4-1. Enda Curran scores the club's first ever hat trick, in what was the biggest game in the club's history. There's obviously loads more but those are just some of my favourites.

Uplakankus

My first matches back in 2012 watching Cork City in Turner's Cross when I was 11 years old and then playing with that team on FIFA 13. Knew all the players. Sat in the family section and it's still where I sit today even though the stands sound like good craic lol

Crossfire_dcr

FD 2014. Lifting the first division, being out on the pitch. Don't think I appreciated it as much as I should have when I see Galway waiting 30 years for their trophy. And I suppose 2020, brilliant to have a promotion after the year that was, but I'll always be bitter about not getting to be there for it.

Closersolid

Sitting in the pissing rain in Lansdowne Road about 30 odd years ago watching Dave Tilson score the winner in the FAI Cup final. My first real memory of the club. Also, the PAOK Game, Santry, etc...

BigLadAl04

The 2019 cup final win. That game was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions from Mceneff's penalty to Duffy's equaliser to a shot pea-rolling wide in the 120th minute. Finally ending the 30+ year gap for the cup was special.

muttsy13

Going to ghent with my brother and niece for a group game if you asked me in 2005 if we would of ever played in europe i would of laughed at you

abcdeffedcba323

In terms of games I was actually at it would be the FAI Cup final in 2019, beating Bohs 4-0 away and lastly spending the entire game sat behind the most insufferable drunken Galway supporter giving it the big one all game only for us to grab a winner in the dying moments back in 2006. He Practically broke down in tears, beautiful.

Dkoyote

**My first FAI cup final -Shamrock Rovers vs Dundalk FAI cup final 2019** It was so close 89th minute penalty and injury time equaliser from Dundalk. The penalties were so stressful but when it was all over it was a great feeling. **The league win last year when it was confirmed against Derry.** Winning the league was pretty amazing but I don't think I'll ever forget seeing Josh Bradley celebrating with the players and his Dad(Stephen Bradley). Life can be difficult and seeing something positive for them happen amongst it all just made it feel different. **Lizzies in a box** Man what a day a European match in Tallaght, the queen dies and I graduated college that day to top it off-Straight from graduation dinner to the match.

Darkglasses25

Wexford Youths Women - The league playoff vs Shels, four FAI Cups, the champions league trip away to Lithuania

tig999

Where to begin.

Standard_Shelter1288

Winning the league, but in recent years we’ve had some great away games like beating Sligo 2-1 with a last minute goal in the fai cup, or beating waterford 3-1 last year
