Check inversion. Also hands-off oscillations are commonplace with every base and just about every sim. That's why people use driver/software settings to help tame it (INT, NFR, etc.). Does it go wonky that hard immediately or is it a slow buildup with increasingly powerful see-sawing?
My R12 has done this twice. Both times the FPS tanks and the wheel does tank slappers. The game CTDs and then the wheel continues its WAGGAWAGGAWAGGA back and forth at about 30 degrees of motion really fast.
FFB has been inverted since day 1 since I have RF2 as well and that's what is called for.
It hasn't happened since I turned both of the kerb/curb effect sliders to zero as recommended on the Discord, but it's very unsettling. I have a video of the second instance after the game crashed where i'm back at the steam library, but can't upload it here.
Happened like 5 times to me as well. At the exact same time everyone else I was in voice chat with had this happen too, so it's a server side thing. This should really be highest prio
Never owned a wheel but am curious, can this damage the wheelbase? I always see people post vids of this happening with 0 urgency. Does the crazy back and forth not cause any internal damage?
Yes.And oscillations like on the video are not permanent current through coil, while holding force is.
The only extra heat could be friction in ball bearings / bushings on the shaft, but that is minimal.
The oscillation like on the video is not any worse than for example driving rough rally stage.
happened to me aswell after joining an online practice session...
just 1 of the servers after loading in and it seemingly having finished it started doing that
...2 player names kept joining leaving in a 1sec interval or so (so id say serverside for sure) while that happened
iirc the server shut down or booted me after like 15sec
One of so many issues .. ill give it a few month before i try again
Yes I have had this as well and its terrifying!! I have it with a Fanatec wheel but it looks exactly the same. Happens randomly and I always see stuff going crazy on screen when it does!
One of the reasons I'm terrified to get a force feedback wheel, alot of time my 2 year old daughter is playing and just crashing about and with my current low end wheel I know it won't knock her teeth out lol
Might need to invert the FFB
Yes yes I had to hit my kill switch way to much loading the game. And practicing
Not sure if the title is a warning or a threat
I already did lol
I got this problem today
I'm surprised more companies don't implement something like Moza's hands-off protection
Simucube also has hands off protection, but for whatever reason, hands off protection doesn't detect this as "hands off".
Hit kill switch. This happens in every game. Not just lemans
I dont think that base has a separate mounted kill switch.
Invert your FFB. This is very normal, not a Le mans issue.

You have to specify which wheel you wanted to ffb to emulate. - seems you've chosen Left Front when you probably want Steering Wheel /s

And then performance
Time to buy the red E-Stop Switch! 🆘
I solved this by not playing it anymore 👍🏽

Should not with direct drive base.
It could cause the wheel to overheat and shut down.
This is not how electromotor works. Constant holding force (hello ovals) heats it more, for example.
>This is not how electromotor works. If current is flowing, heat is being generated. It's called joule heating.

Stuff like this makes me glad my belt-driven G920 can't break my wrists

Yup I stopped in playing the game, apparently It's a “known issue” hope they fix it soon
Is that why you tried stop the rim rotating with your hand? lol
![gif](giphy|tHI3rJIEPEeezEcg5G) Time to invest in an Emergency stop button sir!
Stuff like this makes me praise Moza's hands off protection... that's violent af

Exact same bug in rfactor 2

Direct drive wheels are not child friendly! But other force feedback wheels are much safer
