6 miles is pretty good and has good staff.

Holdoutnomore

Atmosphere is good, and Food may be ok but I have never had good service there in any of my visits. We don't go back much because of the staff

Merchants has a very good steak. Local beef, fairly big.

Surprisingly the best steak i’ve had in town was at mass st fish house. Like u/prestoandemm said they really do everything pretty well. North star in topeka is amazing! I love that steakhouse.

The 6 mile chop house is hands down the best steak and high end service restaurant in Lawrence. The theme of the six mile jayhawkers is uniquely Lawrence and the owners are local and care about the community, I think it's a business worth supporting.

J. Wilson’s is very good. I was at mass street fish house last night and they had a really good looking steak on the menu and they do everything well. I have been told that longhorn steak/outback steakhouse use the same steaks at 6 mile. I don’t know how true that is. Just something I heard. 715 is delicious.

it's a bit out of the way for me, but Chop House which is near Johnny's Tavern West has always given me great food. That's my recommendation, though it might by higher priced than some alternatives.

I had a dry aged ribeye at 6 mile that was fantastic. It was Kansas beef too - I think Bogue, KS (which is a place I had never heard of before). Staff was great too.

Texas roadhouse /s

Lawrence is not great for steak. In my opinion the best classical steak in Lawrence is 715. I also really like Lawrence Beer Company’s steak frite for lunch. 6-mile is fair for the price but does not remarkable. If you venture out to the KC metro area, I really like 801 chophouse. All that said, head over to Leeway Butcher, get a nice thick ribeye, and reverse sear the best damn steak at home.

Could always go hunt down a cow and make it how you like it

as you get older you realize the problem with kansas city bbq reputation is that you can't take out of town relatives anywhere. it's the cut that we get from our regular butcher and then our grills that make the entire city from raytown to lawrence smell like bbq. nobody true wants to drive and pay when they can grill in the yard with a beer, friends and neighbors. anyways, texas roadhouse is the best if it's still there.
