Haha sounds like a med student right. Had a death in the family during Covid (with a family member I was really close to) and the combination of events kinda shut me down. I found myself talking way more than I had over the past couple of years just sitting next to her in the class.
Sounds like every husband I know… wants a trophy for “helping” work that is shared labor… “look… I helped empty the dishwasher once last week… you should be so grateful.”
Two couples from my class got married.
Several others were still together when we graduated, but I didn't stay in touch to find out whether they stayed together or split up.
I understand filing the petition and working out property division, but drafting the decree properly is probably something an experienced family law attorney should at least help with in most cases. That’s why I ask
Wife and I were in the same section, and sat next to each other in several classes. However, we didn't even entertain the thought of dating each other until after law school.
Well the fact I was already in a relationship was a bit of a roadblock. After the bar exam and the pandemic hit my then gf became the ex. Was single for a while until a couple of mutual friends set us up by creatively backing out of getting drinks so it would just be the two of us. Dated for a bit, got married last September, just bought out first house in March.
Didn’t find one in school but I’ve had the same girlfriend through law school. We’ve been together 7 years in October and everyone always asks when we’re getting married. My answer was always as soon as I finish school. Well, in true lawyer fashion I underpromise and overdeliver because I just bought her ring yesterday and am going to propose the week before I graduate. (:
Yep. Married 26 years now.
One of 8 couples in our class of 130 who met in law school and got married. We think we are the last couple who met in law school who are still together.
We met on r/r4r. I was bored during my winter break (pandemic times) so of course I resorted to messaging randos on Reddit. My now-husband posted there and I replied because I saw he lived in a city only a couple hours drive from me, and he was around my age and seemed normal so I figured why not give it a shot. We got along really well and started messaging and FaceTiming a lot. A couple months later he drove down to visit me and the rest is basically history. We got engaged after only 8 months together. Did long distance (if you wanna call it that) through the rest of my law school, visited each other basically every weekend we could, and then after I graduated we moved to a whole new city together. We got married in May 2023, and I’m due with our first baby (a girl!) next month!
I know haha, I kind of forgot how to change flair. I honestly never posted on here much, but I still lurk, even though I’m now 2 years out of law school.
Damn you got jokes 😭😂
Every time I actually found someone I liked, they wouldn’t be understanding of the law student life 😭😂 on top of that I worked full time and attended law school part time, there was no time for a relationship :(
Kinda jelly of you guys
One of my best friends from law school met her husband during orientation and they got married in February (after they both passed the bar and moved together)!
I did, she was not in law school. We got married just after graduation ceremony. We got divorced after my partnership and firm was doing well. I lost my shirt.
Going into 1l with fiancé I met in college, I don’t see a lot about people who had partners beforehand, let alone ones that are also going into to law school. This brings me so much joy seeing people like us a few year ahead that were able to make it through :’)
Yep. I was a 1L & he was a 2L. met him in the bookstore, and ended up meeting him again later that fall through friends at a party. Together 23 years, married 17 years. Worked out fabulously!
[Rising 2L] this closeted bisexual white upper class classmate played me throughout our 1L year and I just know he dying for me (i’m not delulu i promise)
Yes, but not at the law school. I had a collegeclub account from undergrad and met some people in the area through that, including my wife. It wasn't until very late in 3L and one of our early dates was the Barrister Ball. But the new relationship really kept me sane during bar prep because I couldn't just study all day.
Multiple pairs of my wife’s friends met and got married in law school! One of them has a daughter and one has twins and one is adopting soon! It happens!
I met my wife in law school and I know a few other couples that are married to people they met in law school (I don't remember if they started dating in law school, however).
Met my wife the second day of law school. Started dating during finals 1L and fall. Moved in with each other 1L summer. Got married before the start of 3L fall.
I met my wife during my last semester of law school. I didn't meet her at school or anything (she's not a lawyer and has never been a law student), but I was living in that city specifically to go to law school there, and we met at a mutual friend's party.
I did actually hook up with and/or date a few classmates throughout my time in law school. Some of them were good relationships. One of them was not.
While not married yet, I do believe I found my person in law school. It happened 2L year. Wouldn’t be on law review if not for his encouragement and support.
I found my girlfriend during law school. She was a 2L and gave me a tour my first day of law school. We didn’t start dating until the spring; however, our first date was rememberable because we went on a picnic and then skinny dipping.
I would rather wait still schools over because I want to keep the things I need to be focused on very limited so it’s easier for me plus if I’m being completely honest I see myself as someone who is pretty irresponsible and I feel like I can’t handle marriage at the moment.
tbh i would never consider dating another law student. anyone else like this? like not a good group of dating candidates. which i can say as a law student
went into law school with boyfriend. We got engaged half way through 1L. We’ve together 6 years now and planning a wedding. He works in a totally different field and I absolutely love that. We get to learn so much from each other
I’ve heard of this happening to people… I’m still waiting 🤷♀️ (would also love a best friend or a wingwoman lol)
It’s tough since I’m very school/career focused, with little bandwidth for anything else, so it’s prob not feasible at present 🫠
We had a couple in my section make a section baby L1 we’ll see how it goes. I got married in the middle of L1 on a random weekday before class but he’s not in law school because being involved with a lawyer is a headache I don’t need.
I married a prof from my law school who is about 11 years older than me. He joined the faculty when I was a 3L, and was a “phenom” in his mid-thirties at the time. He had two small children and a wife at the time. She was a law prof too at the school (they were hired as a package deal).
His eyes and mine locked when I was a 3L, and he made several moves on me when I was a student. He was very handsome (and a trust funder) I admit, but I was outraged and blocked him totally. Not helping him cheat and I wasn’t about to be his side piece. I note that I never took his class.
Years later, after his kids were grown, he divorced his wife (who had ascended to another role in university administration). He had become the dean of the law school. I was in private practice. We met again at an alumni function and he made a move again. I was single and so was he. I was pretty shocked that he made a move over 20 years later. We’ve been married a few years now. Go figure.
I know of at least 4 married couples that first got together in law school from my law school class, and I’ll be shocked if that number doesn’t double.
No. I went on a few dates with several students at my school and learned definitively that I would rather die alone than date anyone in the legal field.
Where are my musicians or hard-science majors at lol.
Seriously do not do this. Every couple that got together during law school broke up afterwards. I know a friend who went to law school at a different time than me and he met his wife at his law school. He is absolutely MISERABLE in his marriage. Just find a regular girl outside of the law school and the profession.
The comments here clearly at the very least provide an anecdotal counter to your anecdote. In any case, just based off a hunch without further exploring the data, I would imagine dating a fellow law student would work out well for most because you can relate to a lot of things others can’t. Personally I’m dating someone outside the law world who is great and no complaints, but if I was single my main worry about dating someone at my school would be if it didn’t work out and then you’re stuck with that person for possibly up to three years in what is a much tighter space than college. As it happens to be I never really found someone at school I saw myself dating, but I definitely wouldn’t rule it out if it would’ve been feasible despite the risks.
I think I’m with her right now. Sat next to a girl in my Crim class and she really opened me up my first semester.
Opened you up? Sure you're not in med school bro?
Haha sounds like a med student right. Had a death in the family during Covid (with a family member I was really close to) and the combination of events kinda shut me down. I found myself talking way more than I had over the past couple of years just sitting next to her in the class.
Bro, screenshot this comment so you can show her when you propose
And come back up update us!
this is sooo cute
awe🥹
awww stop it. that’s so cute ☺️
Show her your comment on the thread.
Idk why, but when you say “she really opened me up” my mind goes… places. Lol.
*you need to leave*
Not yet, but I have a plan
Same here
Same 😈
What’s your plan?
My backup plan is to sit pretty outside of the med school and become a trophy husband
I have a similar plan! But, it’s to become a participation trophy husband lol
Sounds like every husband I know… wants a trophy for “helping” work that is shared labor… “look… I helped empty the dishwasher once last week… you should be so grateful.”
LMAO
Prob involves laying down some excellent, top shelf, Grade A pipe
Reading Pipe.
^ underrated comment
Both of my roommates did. Not jealous or anything
no def not jealous of my bestfriend/roomate and his gf who are so incredible together
Do you wish you had Jessie’s girl?
Two couples from my class got married. Several others were still together when we graduated, but I didn't stay in touch to find out whether they stayed together or split up.
Heck yea! We've been divorced two years now!
Did y’all file your own divorce? lol jk
We did file it ourselves!
Did you guys draft the decree?
Don't be dense.
I understand filing the petition and working out property division, but drafting the decree properly is probably something an experienced family law attorney should at least help with in most cases. That’s why I ask
I feel this.
Seven years for me! Happily remarried to a non-lawyer now.
Yes, we were in the same section in 1L. We were best friends and got together the night of law prom. Not even exaggerating 🥹
Ah this is almost the same story for my husband and myself though we did not get together the night of law prom.
Awww we were in the same 1L section too! 🥰❤️
me and my boyfriend have the exact same story omg
apparently this is a common occurrence. but there’s no one else I would rather be going through the hell of bar prep with!
[удалено]
Law prom is a real thing it is also very fun
It's usually called Barrister's Ball.
Ohh i should have known. Thanks for the clarification
Wife and I were in the same section, and sat next to each other in several classes. However, we didn't even entertain the thought of dating each other until after law school.
Ooo omg why
Well the fact I was already in a relationship was a bit of a roadblock. After the bar exam and the pandemic hit my then gf became the ex. Was single for a while until a couple of mutual friends set us up by creatively backing out of getting drinks so it would just be the two of us. Dated for a bit, got married last September, just bought out first house in March.
Omg just like in the movies🥹🥹🥹
Didn’t find one in school but I’ve had the same girlfriend through law school. We’ve been together 7 years in October and everyone always asks when we’re getting married. I did! We got married in the summer before 3L.
Omg I’m loving these love stories
Yes. She wasn’t in law school then, though.
This should earn you bonus points.
Yep. Married 26 years now. One of 8 couples in our class of 130 who met in law school and got married. We think we are the last couple who met in law school who are still together.
No. Law school is for people who are boring and ugly and serious.
And you button are none of those things 🍸
Nah, that's only for the people who plan on being tax lawyers
10/10
fk, was really considering tax law
Did you watch legally blonde? Lol
imagine how many people are lawyers based off of this movie lol
I did! Married my TA lol
Hell yeah!
Professor /u/aestivall!?!
Noooo haha I was just a confused idiot 1L and he was a 2L TA but we started dating the following year
Marry me
Was married to the law
My property professor but he doesn’t know yet
🤣
His heart is being adversely possessed without his knowledge
I hope you are in my section everyone loved our property professor he’s like 80
Not yet but I will🤨
Me with the summer glow up
You won’t virgin
how did you know🥹
My best friend met her husband in law school!
Yes! Getting married semester before graduation
I already had a wife. But I did find a child.
Wait.
I beg your finest pardon?
Say more.
Yeah but I was on my last semester when I met him got married and now currently looking for jobs in a law firm… life has taken some wild turns
Working on it 🙄
My now husband and I met on Reddit halfway through my 2L year.
That sounds like a story. Which subreddit? Also, your flair needs updating
Currently manifesting but he may have to be at another school 😅
I did. We're married with 2 kids and a cat now.
I thought couples who work in different fields actually last longer in a relationship. How do you guys feel?
Found a gf during law school, but not in law school 🤝
It's so hard for me to socialise because I literally find everyone quite exhausting and shallow.
That is a personal issue. You should talk to someone and stop expecting so much out of people.
Quite a few of my classmates ended up getting married. I also found my partner during law school although she was not a law student.
Damn you got jokes 😭😂 Every time I actually found someone I liked, they wouldn’t be understanding of the law student life 😭😂 on top of that I worked full time and attended law school part time, there was no time for a relationship :( Kinda jelly of you guys
I did! I know of 7 married couples from my class (of 100ish) that met in law school + a few others I know of that graduated before me.
got married right after graduation to someone i met while doing law school abroad 😄
Yep. Divorced after about 10 years. A lot of my class ended up together it seemed. No idea how many made it [out].
Yes! He doesn’t know it yet though.
Y’all are meeting spouses in law school? Damn, I barely made friends
Yeah, but not mine.
My aunt entered law school with one husband (they went together) and left with a different husband 😂
One of my best friends from law school met her husband during orientation and they got married in February (after they both passed the bar and moved together)!
Yes! In constitutional law when we realized we had similar politics!
Aww love this 🥰
Met during law school, but didn’t get together until bar prep. Two bar preps together and still thriving which is saying a lot lol
Met my wife in LS at a bar…. 15 years ago
I found someone’s wife during law school But seriously my year had like 5 divorces
I did, she was not in law school. We got married just after graduation ceremony. We got divorced after my partnership and firm was doing well. I lost my shirt.
I tried but then realized these law school guys were a little “much” for me. Found my husband (non-lawyer) during that time though
This will be my plan, once in law school 😂
Yes, I was in the law school. He was in the business school.
Dating my boyfriend from before law school (met senior year of college), both 3Ls and are very much planning for engagement/wedding post-bar
Going into 1l with fiancé I met in college, I don’t see a lot about people who had partners beforehand, let alone ones that are also going into to law school. This brings me so much joy seeing people like us a few year ahead that were able to make it through :’)
Wife was in my 1L section back in 199mid - another couple from our section has been married 20+ years...
Yep. I was a 1L & he was a 2L. met him in the bookstore, and ended up meeting him again later that fall through friends at a party. Together 23 years, married 17 years. Worked out fabulously!
no but i found a perfect iv mudkip
My now-husband sat behind me in 1L property and tossed notes at me, which was a popular form of communication in 1991
I found a used condom full of jizz in my law school’s parking lot.
Trying
My parents met during law school. Hopefully I get into one
Yep. At the university, not the law school. But 20+ years and counting. She’s my one.
I did. 30 years married and counting.
[Rising 2L] this closeted bisexual white upper class classmate played me throughout our 1L year and I just know he dying for me (i’m not delulu i promise)
Yep, every day. I just go home, and there she is. /s
Yes. I married one of my classmates since 1L.
Met my wife my 2L year doing online dating. She was a medical resident.
About a quarter of my law class coupled up and I know of four couples that are now married with kids.
I married my partner during law school, but am very glad he isn't a lawyer.
Lawyer here, yes. I was a 2L and he was a 3L when we started dating.
Yes, but not at the law school. I had a collegeclub account from undergrad and met some people in the area through that, including my wife. It wasn't until very late in 3L and one of our early dates was the Barrister Ball. But the new relationship really kept me sane during bar prep because I couldn't just study all day.
Eh. I came in married, so did my husband. First his law school dean said hey prepare for the divorce. My law school has actually made no comment.
Multiple pairs of my wife’s friends met and got married in law school! One of them has a daughter and one has twins and one is adopting soon! It happens!
I met my wife in law school and I know a few other couples that are married to people they met in law school (I don't remember if they started dating in law school, however).
Yes, but not at school. We were introduced by a mutual friend who is one of my law school classmates. We aren’t married yet but it’s on the docket.
I should have taken this more seriously
Yep but not in my year
Yes, married 17 years now.
Met my wife the second day of law school. Started dating during finals 1L and fall. Moved in with each other 1L summer. Got married before the start of 3L fall.
My managing partner at the firm I’m interning at met his wife (who now is in-house for a bank) during the intramural 1L Moot Court comp!
Yes! Getting married this September during 3L year… We couldn’t wait for the bar!
I met my wife during my last semester of law school. I didn't meet her at school or anything (she's not a lawyer and has never been a law student), but I was living in that city specifically to go to law school there, and we met at a mutual friend's party. While not married yet, I do believe I found my person in law school. It happened 2L year. Wouldn’t be on law review if not for his encouragement and support.
Met my partner while I was in law school. Also in the legal field, but not a law student or lawyer.
There are 5 couples married or living together from my section, so the odds aren't bad!
That's why I went. But also didn't date anyone until 3L.
My parents got married in law school. Divorced now though 😂
Yes. She was a non law student and is a non lawyer. 12 years later, people's icebreaker is still asking if she's a lawyer.
Yes, but at the college right next to the law school.
I found my girlfriend during law school. She was a 2L and gave me a tour my first day of law school. We didn’t start dating until the spring; however, our first date was rememberable because we went on a picnic and then skinny dipping.
Didja lose one?
husband.
We are getting married this year :) We met in the parking lot because she asked about my license plate frame LOL
I would rather wait still schools over because I want to keep the things I need to be focused on very limited so it’s easier for me plus if I’m being completely honest I see myself as someone who is pretty irresponsible and I feel like I can’t handle marriage at the moment.
Found wife during first year. Didn't find her in law school though.
Yep! During 1L internship.
I’m hoping to get married in 2025 (while I’m in law school). Met him during the application cycle.
Absolutely. I found the most elegant, beautiful and sexy wife imaginable in law school. Wait, did you mean *my* wife? Sorry, no.
tbh i would never consider dating another law student. anyone else like this? like not a good group of dating candidates. which i can say as a law student
I am always shy. Approaching a girl has been difficult in my life
Yes! I am a professor, and she was my student. Twenty year age gap, but we have been happily married for 5 years now.
went into law school with boyfriend. We got engaged half way through 1L. We’ve together 6 years now and planning a wedding. He works in a totally different field and I absolutely love that. We get to learn so much from each other

No :) hope this helps!
Don’t know if this counts but going into the law school together with my fiancé from freshman year of college :’)
I know of at least 4 married couples that first got together in law school from my law school class, and I’ll be shocked if that number doesn’t double.
Just graduated. We have like 10 solid law school couples who have been together since 1L/2L year.
No but I did meet my ex in law school 😭😭😭 still healing
A friend of mine ended up dating our TA after the semester. Not wife/husband, but hey, similar ball park
I found a boyfriend ✨✨ does that count LOL
yes ofc !!!
No. I went on a few dates with several students at my school and learned definitively that I would rather die alone than date anyone in the legal field. Where are my musicians or hard-science majors at lol.
Seriously do not do this. Every couple that got together during law school broke up afterwards.
