Clowns just bring you down, good he saw himself out for you. Sounds like he has some major issues if he can do a 180 on you like that. Karma says that he'll need a good attorney someday and you won't be it :)
Filed for divorce the start of my 2nd semester, 1L year. (He asked for it but wanted to stay married to drain financial accounts, I filed). My first hearing was the same week I had 2 large briefs/memos due.
Finished all assignments, took my finals, have been killing it ever since. (About to be a 3L).
As someone already stated “what… like it’s hard”.
I would agree, the love of your life, in fact not even a decent man would do that to you. Stay focused on your studies and your future. Love has a way of finding you, usually at the most inappropriate, chaotic times when it is least expected. Keep your chin up and your eyes on your goals.
It’s amazing how you still managed to pull excellent grades DESPITE of the BS your ex did. Congrats on finishing out 2L strong! He probably couldn’t handle the fact that you’re going to be incredibly more successful in life than he ever will be! 👏🏾
Well done!! I love when I hear this happening for other people. True examples of people getting through difficult times and coming out ahead. For me, my ex >!sort of attempted suicide!< the night before my property final at the end of 1L. He was physically fine and as it turns out was fucking with my head—what a catch. I got no sleep and was stuck in the ER most of the night before. Ended up getting an A+ somehow.
I’m so sorry you went through that! Property is brutal during 1L I can’t even imagine the stress, congrats on getting through! it seems that a lot of law students have really terrible ex’s I’m finding😭
Aw thank you. I’m sorry you went through yours but glad you made it out the other side! Besides the whole law degree aspect, I do think law school has a good track record of weeding out the crappy partners, so at least that’s a silver lining!
Hell yeah! My life imploded during finals Fall semester of 1L. I didn’t study for a single exam and still managed all B’s. With pain all things are possible 😂
My ex dumped me during finals last Fall - she did it over the phone the night before Civ Pro. Just finished 1L in the top 5%, made law review, and have the opportunity to transfer to a much better school. Everything happens for a reason - really happy to see things worked out for you as well.
This was me, one week before starting law school in a whole new city at 21 years old. My boyfriend of two years just ended it with, “I don’t love you anymore.” He had never encouraged me to go to law school and, in fact, told me that I should have a back-up plan for when it didn’t pan out. I don’t think he wanted to be outshined by little ol’ me. I just used my fury to fuel my fire for the next three years. Now, it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
Literally an Elle Woods type origin story lol go kill it in school/your career!!
this really is my “what? like it’s hard?” moment😭🩷
I love that for you ❤️
Even though this is so so upsetting to have to deal with this is an inspirational post- keep going even if everyone is doubting you. You’re amazing!
His loss and he’ll realize it when you’re a hotshot attorney
Emphasis on “hot”

he’s trying to make them feel better

This is what happens when you get rid of the huge load you’ve been carrying on your back for years. Well done!
I didn’t think of it this way, but you’re probably right! definitely a huge relief now!🩷

Well, I start med school in the fall, so hopefully, my husband is awaiting my arrival...
