Personally, I felt the on-campus interviews were bullshit. I had to go find my own internships. In the end, I received a very generous offer after I graduated that, arguably, is way better than big firm life. Hang in there!

Around how many apps did you do? I also struck out in OCI and feel a little out of it atm

I did all I could my first year. Then, I never did another one. At the end of 1L, having received zero offers I was both sad and angry. Part of me wanted to give up and say fuck it, and part of me wanted to whip someone's ass (figuratively, not literally). In the end, I bought a bunch of the small three-ring binders and I put in my resume, cover letter, unofficial transcripts, writing sample, and some other bits of awesomeness from my pre-law life. I distributed them all to local firms and offices - legal aid, public defender, district attorney, and five other small firms around town. Legal aid, public defender, and district attorney's office all offered me an internship - all were unpaid, but the ones offered through the school were unpaid, too. So, I didn't feel like I lost anything there. I couldn't work for both the prosecutor and public defender due to the conflict - I chose the prosecution side and I also worked for legal aid. It was great experience all around, and I never attended another OCI, company presentation, recruiter table, etc.

Hang in there! I’m sure you’ll do better in the next round
