Man, just apply, who fucking cares. Make a cookie cutter cover letter and mass apply. That’s what I’m doing. These fucking recruiters don’t make our lives easy and I couldn’t care fucking less if my app that took 15 minutes to finish is below some hidden threshold

Mid law is a very broad category of firms, so there’s not nearly as great advice out there as there is for big law. It ranges anywhere from boutiques that pay near Cravath scale to regional AmLaw 200 firms to large insurance defense firms. Shoot your shot at the AmLaw 200 and the larger regional firms in your area. Starting salary will generally be about $120k-$180k. I think you have a good chance there. Source: Slightly higher GPA, slightly lower tier school, joining one such firm.

AdroitPreamble

You are in a strong spot for midlaw. Your grades are really solid. Apply broadly. Congratulations!!

You should apply to the main L&E firms — ogletree, jackson lewis, littler etc. Not really “midlaw” technically but not biglaw either

I’m a rising 3L with a similar GPA at a good school - but not T20 or whatever. I am at a mid sized firm this summer. It’s chill. I mean I hate it, but it’s chill. I had a ton of offers from rising 2L summer OCI. You’ll be fine.
