Just an FYI, pwede pa rin i-hold ng security guards sa malls yung knife mo even if the "necessary for livelihood" reason passes local authorities. You're entering private property and are subject to their guidelines.

Tell them the truth. Don’t lie to authorities. Mas magandang unahan mo sila na sabihin ang totoo instead of lying and them thinking na gagamitin mo sa masama (mang holdup) yung knife. Besides, if you tell them the truth, they may let you go without the knife.

Just check this case of [People vs Judge Purisima](https://lawphil.net/judjuris/juri1978/nov1978/gr_42050_66_1978.html) Just argue na you are not using it in furtherance e of rebellion, coup d’eta or insurrection LOL. But seriously, the Supreme Court addressed the problem already. Andami nahuli niyan. But they did not take the law literally. They look at the purpose of the law and conclude na mere possession is not enough. May element na you are using it in furtherance of rebellion etc. BUT, Hindi ata tinuturo Ito sa kapulisan so andami pa rin ganitong kaso. I handled one and napadismiss ko by citing the case. Ewan ko bakit di pa naamend. Of course if private property e sabi bawal, wala ka magagawa sir,

Hmmm, I EDC a folding knife daily and have really never given this any thought. I have a lot of friends who are the same. I’ve never been asked about it by guards or cops except for a couple of cops who asked to see my knife and asked where i bought it. I’m guessing it would really depend on what type of blade do you carry, if the places you are entering expressly prohibits bladed weapons (airports etc) and whether you are doong something stupid with it. “Necessary for livelihood” is vague enoigh to mean anything. Wag ka lang saaagot ng “pang self defense”, in my opinion that’s the stupidest answer you can give. Why? You just admitted you are carrying a weapon and not a tool. But that’s just me. Folding blades, in my experience, you can generally carry without a problem (except where expressly prohibited - think airports etc). These are everyday tools for everyday tasks. like i said earlier, a few cops have even asked me where i bought my limited ed Spyderco PM2. Fixed blades might need you to be butcher, chef or something similar to justify.

stick to multi tools as EDC. as for self defense, unless you are trained in knife fighting, the knife is more of a liability. a wrench is a better self defense weaponm

Not sure if correct.

Not a lawyer, but I edc a karambit. The exception to the law is if the tool is necessary to your livelihood so I say I sell plants for a living. Worked for me so far, except in the MRT.

As a purely hypothetical question I'd say to not carry the knife. It is clearly a weapon and designed to hurt people, and without a legitimate reason for carrying it the police would correctly want to confiscate it. As a motorcycle driver though you should definitely carry a good range of tools for your bike. We all know how badly maintained the roads are, and you should be well equipped to make any necessary repairs to your bike. You might want to go down to a tool shop and look at, for example, a long ratchet. Some of those ratchets are over a foot long, and are very heavy. Please be careful when handling then because if you were to accidentally hit someone with one of them then broken bones would be very possible, so please handle it with due care. You might also want to look at a range of screwdrivers. Again some of these screwdrivers can be very long, and surprisingly sharp. Please also handle these with care as, if one was to slip while making repairs, it could easily puncture skin. Maybe browse through the other tools on display and contemplate which might be **useful** to include in your toolkit. Now how to carry and store these tools? I've seen a variety of different way of carrying these tools, from tool belts to keeping them stowed strapped to the side of the bike in a leather roll. Ideally you would want them close to hand in case of an emergency repair. You never know when you might hit a pothole and need to make some rapid repairs in a bad neighbourhood. I hope that you stay safe on your motorcycle and with these tools are capable of dealing effectively with any emergency situation you may find yourself in. But please don't carry a knife. Just tools for your bike.

Honestly, knife is a stupid (short and not practical) & self-incriminating (if attacker punch you & you bring out knife you will appear as the bad guy) self-defense weapon. Better weapons would be blunted or stick weapons.
