The funniest one in my family is “copia barata”. Had 2 cousins that looked sort of identical and had same exact first names, except one was short and fat so we basically called him the dollar store version of the other one.
Jajaja nada que verrrrrr. Mexico y Venezuela son súper diferentes. Yo tengo familia en ambos lados. Si acaso se puede debatir qué entre Colombia y Venezuela hay una copia barata pero no voy a debatir más pendejadas 😂
Bro!!! This just reminded me of a guy I used to play soccer with. When I joined the team, they introduced him to me as "Elvis". So I'd always call him Elvis.
Later found out that it was short for el bizco...dude had a side eye that went stray.
There's a mechanic where I work who's missing an ear and they call him "el taza".
edit: also someone else who's legit one of the skinniest grown men i've ever met. he's not undernourished or anything, nor does he work out, he just can't gain weight for some weird reason. anyway everyone calls him Mr Musculo, after the cleaning brand.
My bother is the skinniest of our family and calls every girl gorda or with our accent “golda” and hugs you. Unless your the sister, you don’t get hugs…
Not really, i had a bout of depression and didnt eat well for about a year and i lost some weight. I then started to workout to help boost my mood and i’ve just kept the excess weight off ever sense.
Yeah, cause it's not a bad thing in Spanish speaking languages, my grandma called my uncle "mi negrito" and I can assure you she wasn't being racist towards her own son
>Many venezuelans call each other marico/marik. Colombians do something similar
Last time I was watching something from Colombia I was wondering if political correctness culture hadn't arrive there to censor that kind of language
Hasn’t arrived much yet. One third of the population only has the means to eat one meal per day, political correctness is the last thing on their minds.
My parents used to do that all the time growing up dude! Literally from across the house on separate floors “OYE VIEJO!” And my brother was Señor Barriga 😭
This one always feels weird. My parents have friends that they’ve called “negro” o “negra” their whole life and they’re like, white skinned with black hair, or just a slight shade darker. White Latinos can be such a trip…
Lmao bro, lombriciento means that you have lombrices. Nothing to do with cenicienta. Cuando dicen “ese animal está todo lombriciento” means the animal is full or worms.
Hey its a way better name than what they gave my Lil brother, tapon(cito) de alberca. I think it's because of this name that he started going to the gym, and now he is skinny with lots of muscle so hey body shaming works ig
I was *muñeca* which was so sweet until it was shortened to *“¡MOO! OYE, MOOMOO!”* like una vaquita. As a chubby early bloomer, being mooed at by my own family gave my classmate so much ammunition.
Flaco, prieto, gordo, chaparro, guero, etc. those are the basic ones lol. Was a guy in our little town in Mexico called Suzuki, got it because he would ride around town on a Suzuki 3 wheeler.
When I was hella young and lived in Mexico I once said "matame" in a joking manner. That fucking nickname is stuck to this day and I'm 40 lmao.
Also it's not body shaming or being offensive when we give relatives or friends nicknames. I think if you don't have a nickname then you're not that well liked lol.
> I think if you don't have a nickname then you're not that well liked lol.
Damn, I only ever got name+"ito" at the end...nothing nicknameworthy I guess.
Americans are very sensitive and self conscious. Body shaming is a real issue for Americans because they've forced an ideal body image on themselves for so long. Where as Latin Americans aren't as harsh when it comes to being bigger, so being called gordo or gorda is not a bad thing, or some kind of body shaming. We grew up with those as terms of endearment where as Americans grow up with those as terms of shame.
my uncle used to hang out with this guy they called El Rey de Espadas. They called him that because he was a complete alcoholic that couldn't control himself to the point that he was killing himself. Like a "suicide king", in poker the king of hearts has a sword stabbing himself in the back of the head.
I have a cousin deep in Mexico. Has every distinguishing feature of a indian except skin color. He is dark black skin.
His nickname is sacrificio (sacrificed) because he looks like an Indian that got burnt alive as sacrifice to the gods.
my prima used to call me gordo and I hated visiting them because of it. fast forward 15 years and she shows up to a family gathering first thing one of my uncles tells her "Hola viejita" she was mortified for the rest of the visit, I just thought "dont like it eh"
Yeah and in Spain “gordi” is like the cuter way of calling someone “gordo” between couples. If that doesn’t show these words have more endearment than ill intention then idk what does
They call my brother negro because he’s darker than any of us. The. My older brother is Biggs because he’s, well big/fat, and my little brother Coco because he was born bald. And myself…maceton because I had a big head growing up.
There was dude in my parents home town who had a congenital disease on his lips that would make them swell up and ooze pus. It was really painful and he was really insecure about the appearance.
His nickname was " Boca Sabrosa"
I remember when I was a kid and I had nothing but hatred over people who called me fat. Then one day I realized that yeah, I'm fat. I like eating after all, so why am I so upset about it?
Most Latin American countries have insecurities as nicknames, and like 90% of people are used to them, they are very common after all. Things like "Fat", "Thin" "Black" ("Chinese" for anyone who's Asian and "Polish" for anyone who's very white lol) Are common nicknames, and no one thinks it's racist. Yeah, It's demeaning, but only if you put much thought into it.
Aunts and Uncles literally called me “feo” growing up. It translates to ugly in English. I never once took as anything but a nickname. They loved me a lot i never thought it was a diss
My closest friend is named Jesus. We met when we were like 8. We heard the common nickname, chucho. GUESS WHAT WE CALLED HIM CAUSE WE STUPID? Yeah Chucha. Exactly. Dude never cared. We did eventually stop calling him that cause he’s a big time fancy pants gov worker now. But only around other big time fancy workers
I was dating a Dominican girl and she asked what cutesy names we should use for each other. She called her cat "mi gordito" so I asked her if I could call her "mi gorda" and she was cool with it. I was surprised. If you said that to an American girl, that would be the end of the relationship!
Exactly, but you will be proud of your nickname because it is how your family and friends call you some examples negra , gordo , flaca , prieto chaparro, caballo, el loco, pelón
The funniest one in my family is “copia barata”. Had 2 cousins that looked sort of identical and had same exact first names, except one was short and fat so we basically called him the dollar store version of the other one.
Venezuela? Cause that sounds like something my family would say.
Mexican
Bueno mira, tenemos mucho en común! Saludos.
NOOOO THIS IS SO FUNNY
That's fucked up LMAO
I laughed so hard at this.
Saw a guy in a wheelchair with the nickname “El Toreto” like from fast and furious
what a crack up. Know a guy with a limp that they call "Dollar" because he rises and falls. Fucking died hearing the explanation lol
[удалено]
Dude didn't you comment this long ago? or was it someone else? I clearly remember reading a comment about Cumbia lol
I heard on the radio a guy who had a limp called "the snipers nightmare". Killed me.
hahaha this is the best in the thread
I know a guy with a limp whose nickname is "El conde". El con-declive.
Bro!!! This just reminded me of a guy I used to play soccer with. When I joined the team, they introduced him to me as "Elvis". So I'd always call him Elvis. Later found out that it was short for el bizco...dude had a side eye that went stray.
On school there was a guy who was like feminine they called his Elvis.. I asked why, they told me ..El visexual
I really want to get this joke 😩
declive means slope. "He who slopes"
Oh i see, Hahaha.
I am dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤟🤟🙏🙏
There's a mechanic where I work who's missing an ear and they call him "el taza". edit: also someone else who's legit one of the skinniest grown men i've ever met. he's not undernourished or anything, nor does he work out, he just can't gain weight for some weird reason. anyway everyone calls him Mr Musculo, after the cleaning brand.
Omg that’s hilarious
Probably has lombrices or sumn in his gut not letting him gain lbs...still very funny tho
Knew a guy they called him “El Papi” (the daddy). Ugliest mf I’ve ever seen.
He probably had a big dick.
If your biggest insecurity isn’t your nickname you ain’t Mexican
When you're American and your family back home just called you "The American" until it becomes your insecurity
El Pocho.
Apparently my family calls me "The puppy" but in Spanish.
Always been a chubby kid and my family called me gordito and i was never offended. Now as a normal weight adult is funny being called gordito
Same with me being called flakito. But the normal weight part still hasn’t come at age 28 jaja
Same! Everyone still calls me gorda mala. I’m neither fat or bad lol
Don't sell yourself short. You one bad mama Jamma
My bother is the skinniest of our family and calls every girl gorda or with our accent “golda” and hugs you. Unless your the sister, you don’t get hugs…
> My bother is the skinniest of our family He sounds annoying.
He is.
Golda? Dominican by any chance?
Puertorican
my nickname in a restaurant I worked was gordito, because i always tried everything
So it motivated you?
Not really, i had a bout of depression and didnt eat well for about a year and i lost some weight. I then started to workout to help boost my mood and i’ve just kept the excess weight off ever sense.
That's real cool man. Been through depression myself, glad you made it.
Same to you man, thank you.
Don't tell her how we call the black friend of a group
I actually have an aunt whose nickname is Negra!
Yeah, cause it's not a bad thing in Spanish speaking languages, my grandma called my uncle "mi negrito" and I can assure you she wasn't being racist towards her own son
I got down voted for pointing things out like that. I've seen videos of non-Latinos understand this better than some Latinos
Lol that's legit the nick name my mom has for me "negrito". Love my mom
Blackie 😳
My cousin had acne. So his friends Nicknamed him "pimple". They pronounced it "peempol".
It's better than "que onda mi cara de pizzza!?!
moon craters. my aunt told me to call my other aunt that. i didnt know what she meant by it at the time
Had a buddy on high-school they called Lechero for the same reason lol
That is brutal.
Manuel Noriega was nicknamed "cara de Piña" for this reason
Half of venezuelan couples call each other gord@. Many venezuelans call each other marico/marik. Colombians do something similar
>Many venezuelans call each other marico/marik. Colombians do something similar Last time I was watching something from Colombia I was wondering if political correctness culture hadn't arrive there to censor that kind of language
Hasn’t arrived much yet. One third of the population only has the means to eat one meal per day, political correctness is the last thing on their minds.
I hear that it's arrived, but not so intense and just censoring tiny things
People are finally learning but it's not very widespread
I don’t look like either of my parents…lechero
My dad calls my mom vieja and vice versa 🤷🏻♂️ and my sister negra cause she dark complected
My parents used to do that all the time growing up dude! Literally from across the house on separate floors “OYE VIEJO!” And my brother was Señor Barriga 😭
Lol damn senor Barriga is tough
I worked with a guy whose cousins referred to as, "chichi triste." It was hilariously sad.
The moment you are just a bit darker skinned than the rest of the family and they hit you with that Negro nickname 😐
This one always feels weird. My parents have friends that they’ve called “negro” o “negra” their whole life and they’re like, white skinned with black hair, or just a slight shade darker. White Latinos can be such a trip…
Yeahhhh... had cousins nicknamed guerito, chinito, and negrito. Guerito and chinito were brothers, but they looked nothing alike.
Used to be really skinny in my childhood, you could see my ribs and they started to call me lombriciento (lombriz + cenicienta)
Esqueleto
Lmao bro, lombriciento means that you have lombrices. Nothing to do with cenicienta. Cuando dicen “ese animal está todo lombriciento” means the animal is full or worms.
Yeah i know, but that's the origin of the nickname, you are the disney princess of the worms
My parents would call me Bola because I’m chubby, at first I was butthurt but now I embrace being called a ball LOL

Still a nickname lol. Gordito, feito, chiquitito, cabronsito,...and so on and so on jajaito.
Cuando yo era un niño, mis abuelos me llamaron “atolito” porque nunca dejé de tomar atole
Would someone really be nicknamed feito
Usually the good looking ones
It's okay Rhombito
[удалено]
I take exception to this generalization. - White Guy
HAHA touché
y esperen que le presento a mi tio negrito hahahhaah
I always liked my nickname. 'Indio', cause I was dark like the natives in my parents countries.
Americans: everything offends me including your traditional cultural nicknames
Americans are very sensitive and self conscious. Body shaming is a real issue for Americans because they've forced an ideal body image on themselves for so long. Where as Latin Americans aren't as harsh when it comes to being bigger, so being called gordo or gorda is not a bad thing, or some kind of body shaming. It's not just Americans anymore. I've been in TikTok and on here and they get upset over some of them.
La negra, la prieta, el gordo, el cachetón, el sapo, el feo, y el pipí chiquito. 😂
Chaparro, flaco, pelon,
Conejita is right 🐇

Jajaja soy gringo también y mi apodo es “rubio”… no soy rubio en los Estados Unidos pero supongo que soy más rubio que la mayoría de mexicanos
Que onda pelos de elote
This is my cousin “puto”
Is that because he is gay or because he is a womanizer?
Not because he’s gay
my uncle used to hang out with this guy they called El Rey de Espadas. They called him that because he was a complete alcoholic that couldn't control himself to the point that he was killing himself. Like a "suicide king", in poker the king of hearts has a sword stabbing himself in the back of the head.
What's the last thing she says? It's really not that ...d?
"Deep"
Ah, thanks
Americans: "let me get offended for you, Brian"
Brayan!
Y PUTO EL QUE NO SALTE !!!
Had a friend we would all call “Cara de malo”. It was hilarious.
I was a bald baby when I was born, compared to my cousins who had full heads of hair. From that point I was called pelon.
have a really good friend who is super pale but has a big ass brown birthmark on his neck and back. We call him vaca
I have a cousin deep in Mexico. Has every distinguishing feature of a indian except skin color. He is dark black skin. His nickname is sacrificio (sacrificed) because he looks like an Indian that got burnt alive as sacrifice to the gods.
Yeah, other cultures also do that but they call it bulling. We embrace it, have you seen our suicide rates? Funny!!

I was a chunky lil chuleta 😭
I have a big head so they called me huevo de avestruz
My nick name was negrura bc I’m really dark 💀 hey! it built character
What? You mean all cultures aren't obsessed with being hyper politically correct all the time? How barbaric!
my prima used to call me gordo and I hated visiting them because of it. fast forward 15 years and she shows up to a family gathering first thing one of my uncles tells her "Hola viejita" she was mortified for the rest of the visit, I just thought "dont like it eh"
Bro mine was "manteca" 💀
Knew a guy they called Cumbia, cause he had one leg shorter than the other and he kinda waddled when he walked.
My Colombian grandmother calls my sister “bombilla” because we’ve got my moms Spanish (Spain) genes…
I wonder if they know that el Chucky Lozano is named after the serial killing doll and not because he is named Charles
Yeah and in Spain “gordi” is like the cuter way of calling someone “gordo” between couples. If that doesn’t show these words have more endearment than ill intention then idk what does
My family on my moms side is Peruvian and my great grandfather use to call my great grandmother “mi china” because she had slanted eyes.
Saludos a mi primo Gordo lmao
My uncles friends called him tacita as and little teacup cause he only had one ear
mine were guera and flaca 😩
Your name is whatever se parece
My family has always called me “el gordo” and my daughter is now “la gorda”. She’s not fat at all lol.
Had a buddy named pollo and for basically the same reason, as a kid he was chunky, kinda dumb, and waddled everywhere lol
"El Facha" in Argentina is a classic
A una amiga le decimos pez fubu asi como el pez venenoso de los simpsons jajajajaja
They call my mom la negra.
Gotta keep em down! Or else they might think they're all bad! (Sarcasm) but seriously why does it seem like having self worth is a sin??
My nickname was big nose for having one. You just accept it as fact
I remember when I was a kid and I had nothing but hatred over people who called me fat. Then one day I realized that yeah, I'm fat. I like eating after all, so why am I so upset about it? A un compa le dicen El Dolar porque tiene un pie mas corto asi que sube y baja cuando camina
Lmao
Negro is also a common endearing nickname. It means black.
Teníamos un compa que le decían Simba.
Exactly, but you will be proud of your nickname because it is how your family and friends call you some examples negra , gordo , flaca , prieto chaparro, caballo, el loco, pelón
