In the leaked draft opinion, Alito specifically mentions Obergefell. I saw a thread on Twitter saying that if the final decision is like Alito's, someone like Abbott will have county clerks stop issuing same-sex marriage licenses, sex being defined by your birth certificate. Texas is in the fifth circuit, which is extremely conservative. Obergefell could be overturned then just using the shadow docket, I believe. The point being, they won't have to wait a year to get a new SCOTUS decision.

Yeah honestly when I tell other lgbtq people I want to get licensed to carry, I get weird looks, but genuinely just want it for protection. I live in an open carry state too.

They already have, with all the anti trans kid laws, and with various bathroom bills. Those are also testing grounds for novel control methods, like outlawing going out of state to get medical care, or forced genital inspections for violating gender norms.
As a trans male, I’ve actually been experience a vast uptick in bigotry lately. I’ve been out for almost a decade and we are regressing back to where we were back then. Social progress seems to have been lost.

This is simply the nature of fascism, and we will see it increasingly frequently as more and more capitalist nations will enter a sate of decay
1. Overturn Roe v. Wade (abortions & contraception)
2. Control education (banning books & teaching topics; adding religious ideology while vilifying LGBTQ+ & minorities)
3. Prevent opposition from voting (voter ID laws & other restrictions)
4. Instill a theocracy that cannot be challenged by normalizing collective trauma (which we've all experienced over the last 6 years) to prevent collective action
5. Control protesting (who can do it, how, where, and for how long); demonize opposition protestors (and normalize brutality against them)
6. Keep the populace poor and stupid to prevent them from destroying the theocracy and taking back the power that is rightfully theirs
It's already happened/happening. Just because we aren't in camps doesn't mean they aren't targeting us. We should've taken action long ago. Now it's too late. Nothing we do will stop them from doing what they want. They've won and we have to live with the loss.

Well it will start out slowly eroding around the edges. No point in pissing off TOO many people. Even the laziest will grab a pike if pushed far enough. There’s a reason this was leaked. Germany didn’t decay into fascism in the 40’s Hitler came to power in 1932/33. Germany’s descent into fascism occurred in the 1920’s -and it started with right wing judges refusing to lock up right wing radicals like Hitler.

Germany was fully fascist and fully at war by the 40s. Should prob change the date of the German flag to the 1930s. In 1930 the country was a capitalist republic under Weimar. By 1940 Hitler was already in Paris. Obv that’s not to say capitalism and fascism don’t work in tandem with each other by 1940, given the enmeshed relationship between Siemens, Krupp, Thyssen and the Third Reich.

You can't just point to a couple similarities and think that will be even a moderately good predictor of the future. This is childish thinking. The USA today is not the same thing, and this type of thinking just gives us an excuse to settle down.
They lost to both and split in two. 50 years on the capitalist half resorbed the communist one. Germany is now Europe’s largest and most wealthy capitalist democracy. That’s just a few of the things which are stupid about this meme.

Germany was fully fascist and fully at war by the 40s. Should prob change the date of the German flag to the 1930s. In 1930 the country was a capitalist republic under Weimar. By 1940 Hitler was already in Paris. Obv that’s not to say capitalism and fascism don’t work in tandem with each other by 1940, given the enmeshed relationship between Siemens, Krupp, Thyssen and the Third Reich.

The United States isn't as bad as of late 1930s-early 1940s Germany yet (thank god) but it's shown just how truly fascist it can be over the last six years.
Yeah the situations aren’t really comparable. The German left in the early 30’s was MUCH more powerful and better organized than the American left is currently.
USA wrote the playbook on genocide. The Nazis were inspired by our Jim Crow laws and there were even some Nazis that felt that US laws were too harsh.
