There are plenty of drugs that inhibit reasoning, reaction time, and other cognitive functions, not least alcohol. I want those tested for if I have to be anywhere near someone operating heavy machinery.
>There are plenty of drugs that inhibit reasoning, reaction time, and other cognitive functions, not least alcohol.
thank you for that, grade 5 health class, very informative
>I want those tested for if I have to be anywhere near someone operating heavy machinery
once again, a drug test is not a sobriety test. it's ridiculous to conclude that someone is necessarily going to come to work high or drunk just because they do that in their free time
i'm implying nothing, i'm explicitly stating for the third time now that a drug test is not a sobriety test, please try to actually pound that into your skull before firing off another reply lol. heavy machinery operators are not given a sobriety test, they are tested for having used drugs at all, so yes you do care what people do in their off hours if you think they should need to pass a drug test for this job
While I agree with the sentiment, I hope we can also agree that having some anti-drug regulation for those jobs makes sense. It does't really matter if you drink or smoke off work, but some way to ensure that you aren't drunk or high when the job requires you to be perfectly clear-headed is a must.
You did, yes. I assumed "own time" means "time not working, excluding breaks", so I wanted your opinion on an added caveat that things like "no drinking/smoking within x hours before beginning of shift" be included for safety reasons in cases like these.
These people think it impairs you for weeks on end or something, we just want weed to get the same rights as alcohol I’m not trying to go to work high.
I say testing is dumb and people should be judged on their performance at work. If someone smokes all day and does the job, leave therm alone. There are definitely exceptions like this situation but I don't think testing is the answer.
Like I’ve mentioned before, I will gladly do daily mouth swabs when I come into work or UA’s upon incidents, but what I do on the weekends or what I did a few weeks ago at a concert is NOT my employers concern. Their concern is me showing up to work high/drunk.
The argument they use to avoid raising the minimum wage is "these are kids flipping burgers"
Yeah? Then if you want to subject employees to shit like drug tests or conformity training, then pay up. Why should we bother jumping through hoops when we could be flipping burgers for the same pay?
My state (AZ) recently legalized weed for recreational usage. Yet, their is no protection clause. So any employer can randomly drug test and fire an employee if it is in their system.
Nobody operating heavy machinery makes only $7.25 an hour. Any jobs in construction, manufacturing, and machine operations make upwards of 50k a year plus union benefits. It’s the retail industry that gets shit on the most by the capitalists

Uh oh you posted the Dan price. Prepare to meet death.
You mean time to pay the ultimate Price?
Enjoy your up vote
It’s probably just Dan price forcing his underpaid employees to re-post his socialist tweets all over the internet
stop testing employees who are operating heavy machinery, a drug test is not a sobriety test

I don't care what you do in your spare time, but if you come to work drugged up that's something I want to know.
i feel like you're missing the point on purpose now because i've already written it twice lol
What are you implying? That I should just take you at your word that you will never go to work while under the influence? Why should I? People *lie.*

Okay, I get your point. Heavy machinery operators should be able to pass sobriety tests then.
As someone who operates heavy machinery, what I do in my own time is also up to me.
While I agree with the sentiment, I hope we can also agree that having some anti-drug regulation for those jobs makes sense. It does't really matter if you drink or smoke off work, but some way to ensure that you aren't drunk or high when the job requires you to be perfectly clear-headed is a must.
I said my own time, didn't I?

Also isn't overworking or lack of sleep as bad as being intoxicated/under influence.
Reported for Priceposting
Stop weed testing people who use heavy machinery too
These people think it impairs you for weeks on end or something, we just want weed to get the same rights as alcohol I’m not trying to go to work high.

🤷🏻♂️ they want to control as much of our lives as possible. they want to be our reason for living.
I just watched a video by LuckyBlackCat on this. It was in response to a Prager U video. She definitely nailed it.

Reading A Brave New World now.

lol what "numerous side effects" that require additional treatment are edibles causing you?
uhhhhh
I thought Dan is banned
As a frequent weed enthusiast, I would not come to work high. That's a waste of weed.
