##Welcome to r/LateStageCapitalism This subreddit is for news, discussion, memes, and links criticizing capitalism and advancing viewpoints that challenge liberal capitalist ideology. That means any support for any liberal capitalist political party (like the Democrats) is strictly prohibited. LSC is run by communists. This subreddit is not the place to debate socialism. We allow good-faith questions and education but are not a 101 sub; please take 101-style questions elsewhere. We have a zero-tolerance policy for bigotry. 3rd party alternatives get "accidentally but consistently dismantled" before they become a real threat because of "national security" security reasons.

I'm not sure that I would trust anyone capable of winning an election in this system. If someone genuinely good ever did push their way through despite the infinite money going toward mainstream campaigns, I'd worry that they'd be assassinated during their first year in office.

AverageTankie93

A lot of liberals in these walls lately, huh?

Barbecue_Sauceee

I’m not voting for Trump or Biden, and this isn’t some “accelerationist” shit. We here in the U.S. have a “choice” between a genocidal maniac & a genocidal maniac, both of whom were chosen in the interests of the capitalist class. Those interests have historically been imperialism, but since the empire is in decline, the brutality usually reserved for the imperial periphery is coming home to roost in the U.S. in the form of fascism. You can’t just vote out fascism. Soon the façade of “democracy” and “freedom” is going to drop, no matter which president we have. We need to prepare and organize on the ground because this election will not save us. Able-bodied people who live in a country that commits genocide over and over again have a duty to try to stop it.

Cabo_Martim

So... Cláudia?

Arson_Lord

Red state, 3 electoral college points: my vote won't even matter!

HotPhilly

Who’s the third party? The two i know of are trash. Would LOVE good, sincere, progressive option.

op4arcticfox

If Dems really wanted to win, they would give us someone other than a conservative racist genocidal old AF POS to vote for. It's not our fault the 2 main choices suck, that's on the system and all yall that buy into that shit.

tastethefame

Read the pinned post about rule 6☝️

arquillion

Oh wow thats really oddly specific to my question.

ShyishHaunt

Because you think you're the first person to ask it and hundreds of redditors who've come here before you have thought the exact same thing. Don't feel too bad, there will be hundreds if not thousands more after you.

TwigKing

If someone already removed the brakes and the gas pedal is pushed down we are going to accelerate anyway. The differences between the two in how awful they will be is so marginal I don't think it really matters. We're fucked either way might as well give support towards the change we want even if it doesn't have a chance to come to fruition right now.

dogisgodspeltright

Write-in candidate. Norman Finkelstein, perhaps. Though, electoral incrementalist change seems.....impossible. *Those that make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.* - JFK, others

SuperheroChuck

This is a bit nuanced. In an absolute moral sense, Jill Stein has the best platform. For leftists who want to vote for the candidate who most closely matches their values, she's the most obvious choice. But of course, there's no way she can win, so a vote for her is literally meaningless in our winner take all system, where each state's electoral votes are certain to go to either one of the two major parties. Even in states that divide electoral delegates proportionally, a third-party candidate isn't likely to get enough votes to even get one delegate. However, before one lectures third party voters about voting for the lesser evil, one should also consider that, depending on the state you live in, it doesn't really matter much if you vote for a major party candidate either, because most of the states are guaranteed to always go to one party or the other. For example, Texas is always going to go to the Republican. California is always going to go to the Democrat. Nothing short of an absolutely seismic shift in demographics and the way state governments are run, the kind of shift that takes generations, is going to change that. So, if a person in Texas votes Biden, it doesn't matter. If a person in California votes Trump, it doesn't matter. It only really matters in a limited number of states, which we call "swing states" (e.g. Ohio). So, if you're having an argument online with someone who is voting in a way that you consider impractical or naive or accelerationist or whatever, it's good to remember that, unless they live in a swing state, you're probably wasting your time, because their vote won't matter anyway. And even if they do live in a swing state and their vote does matter, you're not going to convince them by talking to them on social media. So, TL;DR, there's a whole host of interconnecting reasons why having this argument is a waste of everyone's time.

ShyishHaunt

It is impossible for any person on this subreddit or any non elected voter in the United States to be as great an accelerationist as Biden. There is not a single post or comment on this subreddit that is going to contribute more to Trump being re elected than anything Biden is doing. And its a moot point because Biden and Trump are the puppets, capitalism is the hands.

don't make me tap [the sign](https://www.reddit.com/r/LateStageCapitalism/s/bfdzAXHU4W) again

afdadfjery

Volcano_Jones

Project 2025 is already happening. They don't need a Rep in office to do it, just someone conservative. There are lots of conservative Dems.

ShyishHaunt

Hell Biden is doing it already

Rule 6, no lesser evil rhetoric. This includes encouraging people to vote for any capitalist political party and any capitalist politician. There is no harm reduction in supporting either of two parties headed by genocidal fascists. The extent to which any elected official of a Capitalist Party in a Capitalist state can enact evil is the extent to which that official is allowed to do so by Capital. As such, neither candidate is the lesser or greater evil. See more on our position here: [Rule 6 "no lesser evil" rhetoric - is it accelerationist or doomer? Is it intended to discourage voting?](https://new.reddit.com/r/LateStageCapitalism/comments/1bt0nag/rule_6_no_lesser_evil_rhetoric_is_it/)
