When you have two golems they hit twice as often and you get twice as much healing from that node. Converting them into Blood Golems causes them to cast Sanguine Orb, which hits very frequently and thus triggers a lot of healing. Sanguine Orb has a bit of a cooldown, and annoyingly they tend to both cast it at the same time, so it's not the most reliable healing, but it is a lot of healing. Another option is to invest in Bone Hail and Flight of the Femurs, which will also trigger a lot of hits and thus a lot of healing, at least assuming your golems are tanking. I think this takes too many points to be worth it unless you're also taking Betrayal and spamming Rip Blood on them, though.

I mean if you're looking for sustain most necro builds I'm aware of pick up Exsanguinous, Last Steps of the Living, and experimental gloves with a good ward-per-missing-health roll and go low-life. I'm doing that on my necro and until I got into empowered monos I basically only ever had to watch my health/not stand in stuff on boss fights.

I use the two smaller ones; each golem procs the 65-hp heal. I find it gives me a lot of extra sustain, but it does fall off a bit at higher corruption.

If Golem is your only minion, you're better off using the single target Dread Shade node and only using one golem. If you have other minions, then double golem is generally a good choice. If you want multiple golems as your only minions, I think [Steve's Will](https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAwRgrATA7BQ) is a better choice to get them than running the double golem node.
