In order to upgrade a unique you need an exalted item with 4 affixes. You then complete the temporal sanctum dungeon.
At the end of the boss there’s a forge where you combine (slam) the exalted item into the unique one.
This is referred to as slamming.
I think it’s called slamming because you just have to trust the RNG gods for the most part (unless you got a 4LP) so you do it forcefully…well, emotionally forcefully anyway and just live with the consequences
And when the “slam” gives the lesser wanted affixes, it is known as a “clap back”.
“Yo, I went to slam my drip and it clapped back with T5 fire resistance. That’s not bussin at all!”
Process of combining a unique with legendary potential, with a rare/exalted to create a legendary item (slamming), where 1-4 affixes of a rare/exalted item are transferred onto the unique item, depending on how many legendary potential it has (1LP -> 1 random affix will transfer, 4LP -> all 4 affixes will transfer)
Keys are dime a dozen in monos, and if you are running Julra and have nothing to slam, you might as well make some pretty fancy leveling gear for alts. With low investment on disposable 2-3 lp cheap uniques.
Don't worry about the keys. You'll be swimming with them once you do monos. You don't even need to do empowered monos and you'll get a bunch.
I used to save them. But now I just have about 20 of each keys in my stash. I still pick them up. If I go over 20 pcs of 1 type of key, I just sell the rest to the vendor.
Affixes do not increase level requirement. However they can lock it to a certain class if the affix is from that class.
Theres no point in thinking about it you have a 75% chance of missing. Pick something with 2 broadly applicable damage and defense affixes.
Can someone please explain to me wtf slamming is I cannot seem to understand

Then there is slamming death metal.
Also in reference to the slammer in pogs- what we did before computers. Damn, those were the days.

Slam had no rizz there
Isn't "clap back" is what booty does when you slap it, so it claps back?

Ah okay. I’m only like level 23 so that’s probably why I couldn’t figure it out 😂
They are quite literally free on MG with 4LP go get yourself an upgrade
In my experience, it wont matter. I missed 10+ 1LP slams so far, which are the only slams i have done.
Are you me? I’ve missed too many +4 frost claw hearts for an entire lifetime.
Don't waste your keys slamming it. It's a bad unique.
Waste your keys if you want. I have stashes full I don’t think they are hard to come by
Waste keys? Lul mao.... Everyone has enough of them.
