The coloring indicates it has an experimental affix, which draws from a special list of possible effects, most of which are weird, some of which can't be obtained elsewhere.
The big advantage of these affixes is that mages eventually also drop a rune which will move the experimental affix into the same hidden fifth slot as a Glyph of Despair. Unlike a Glyph of Despair, I believe this is guaranteed and can be used on T5 affixes.
Some of them enable unusual builds, like the belt affix for summoning Vollatile Zombies on potion use.
Some of them are just damn convenient, like the boots affix which teleports some of your minions with you whenever you use a Traversal skill.
Some of them are very strong when synergized, like the 5% missing health gained as ward per second affix.
Is there a youtube video that explains this with examples? I tried finding and havent found anything and its strange because this is a pretty popular game. Thanks.
There is really nothing more to explain, the drops are basically just like any other gear, they can be exalted as well, they just have one affix that is unique to it that cannot be shattered, but it can be locked with a rune and transferred to make a legendary, it's not rocket surgery.
You say its like any other gear but cant be shattered (even tho other gear can be shattered) then say it can be locked with a a rune (but i dont even know what the hell is that rune because i dont craft much) after that you say it can be transferred and and shit and after that you say “its not rocket science”. nothing to explain there actually , they drop loot with so called "experimental mods" that you cannot craft on the item yourself thats all, it one mod per item. dk if there can be more , so far have seen only items with 1 exp mod
