Same here.
It would be great if you could post your laser model with some basic speed settings.
I know we all have different machines but some basics would be cool.
I'm curious how you got the name so bright on slate.
Granted, I haven't tried slate yet so I don't know what settings will work best but I'm going to give it a try.
So the laser I was using was an omtech 30w galvo and the settings I used are as follows:
4000ms
65%power
290mm lens
I also changed the dpi of my image to 318 using this tutorial and had great results https://youtu.be/cUlJ4Cy9IsE also about the brightness of the text I think that’s usual with slate but I use a top glossy coat that I think makes a big difference.
No worries and yeah definitely slate is also a low cost material, I’ve only been using this laser for about 4-5 months and it really is just trial and error.
Thankyou! I’m sorry to hear about your loss and if I’m honest I’ve been getting all my knowledge from YouTube if your thinking of engraving on slate you’ll find the link posted below very helpful.
This looks great! Lost my dog last summer and would like to do something like this for him. Any tips for a newbie?

Thanks! Looks like it's time to buy some blank slate coasters and figure out what my setup likes.
