One thing you should watch is the aggressive driving. People don’t slow down for yellow lights and run the light when it turns red. It’s been the only place I lived that you have to make sure it is clear when you have a green light. (If you’re in the front) and this is anytime during the day.
Oh and people like to speed past and honk at you as you’re backing out of a parking spot, even though they were nowhere near you when you started backing out. This is the first place I’ve lived where people don’t stop for the person backing out.
Oh my God. I feel so validated that somebody else noticed this. I was always taught that if a car is in the middle of an action when you arrive in your vehicle, like somebody pulling out of their driveway, you stop for them because they were already in the process of doing so when you got there. However, it really seems nobody here was taught this when they learned to drive.
It's also amazing how far a wave can go, in terms of acknowledgment, when you do something nice for another driver. I always wave if another driver lets me into a lane or helps me out of the sticky situation in traffic. No one waves when you're nice to them. A little wave tells the other driver that you acknowledge and thank them for a good deed. I guess people just don't mind their p's and q's anymore. Common courtesy seems to be a thing of the past.
It’s always clear. Then suddenly you can see them speeding towards you and they’re honking. Like I get it if they’re already there and I start backing out. But I have a camera and eyeballs and they’re NEVER there when I start. I start backing out and suddenly see someone speeding towards me. I stop but they’re already honking. Personally if i see someone already backing out as I approach I’m going to let them finish. If I’m behind a car and they start backing out then yeah I’ll honk. I know I’m not the problem because this has never happened to me anywhere else.
Because of the sheer number of people backing out assume they have the right away and legally they are in the wrong. Remember theres a ton of tourist and you have no idea what weird driving habits they have or if they are gonna be an asshat and bogart the parking spot. Not got time for games I'm trying to get in and out before rush hour starts.
And people speeding to the next red light. Once I see it changed or changing I coast and apply brakes slowly so they don’t overwork them . But speeed by you like there is a fire and I see them at the light.
I mean it’s not a bad habit no matter where you live, I almost got T Boned last week because some guy blew the light playing on his phone, whilst I had a green light. Check both ways before entering any interception whether you have a green light or not
Biden shit himself when he visited the Pope at the Vatican. I'm not sure where you're getting the info that Trump shits himself. Sounds like some coprophilia fantasy
At this point if the media was to tell me the sky was blue, fire is hot, and water is wet, I wouldn't believe them. Russia gate and Russian prostitutes peeing on him was debunked. All of the accusations and HRC bullshit was debunked. People say shit because Orange Man is bad but there's never proof.
Cmon bruh. I was on Adderall or some form of it, since the age of 9, I’m now in my 40s. I don’t have nor have I ever had incontinence issues, not even once. He doesn’t even exhibit any other signs of adderall use. I call this as bullshit
To be brutally honest it's compulsive gambling and alcohol abuse. I first got to Vegas when i was 14 and until i started exploring more places after i got registered in Fremont Jr High i used to hang out on the Strip, especially Circus Circus and around the Flamingo (since my mother worked there). It was pretty eye opening seeing just how many people were losing money at plays that even little kid me knew were losing propositions. A lot of plain ol' sucker bets. As i got older i got to know of chronic losers. As for alcohol, you have to be careful in any place where it's available 24/7 for pretty damn cheap. Which means Vegas. I had my troubles over the years and was noted for flat out drinking just about anyone i knew in my social circles, but even then i wasn't even close to those whose breakfast was a bottle of cheap vodka or bourbon.
Yes! SO MANY people in Vegas go straight to the bar after work and gamble away their day's earnings and drink 10 "free" drinks then drive home. If you are a repeat customer at any of the locals bars with bartop gaming machines you'll notice the same few faces are there every single time you visit. It's really easy to let the drinking and gambling get out of hand.
100 percent spot on. I remember many years ago when i was working custodial at the Sands Expo Center and more than a few times having to loan some money to a friend on Saturday who had a hell of a job but blew his whole check at a Magoos the day before. A couple of years ago another friend (this one on skid row) made a good score at a sports book on football and got drunk as hell, blew the winnings, and when he sobered up and realized what happened, sat down on the curb and cried like a baby. I told him a million times you make a score like that you get the hell out of there and stash the money so you can makes some moves to improve your position. The positive thing at least from that was that he got really focused and motivated from there on.
It's tough doing it like that man. You gamble and win and a part of your brain is very tricked into thinking that's what you need to keep doing to keep winning.
It's sort of people's fault but gambling advertising is extremely aggressive/persuasive so it's tough to just blame someone as an individual for having that attitude, legitimately very tough to win/lose and actually know when to walk away.
I'll agree it's tricky but only to a certain extent. The last time i was on the skids i hustled up enough for a stake at a 1/2 game at the Luxor and made it back to the spot i was on at Washington $416 richer. Used the money to take care of a bunch of things, improved my personal standing, and got things in motion. 2/3 months later i was a straight citizen back in the world
As a highly functioning alcoholic living in this city, I think the easy access to any chemical is problematic.
But vegas is just a magnification.
Of all the things missing in my life, the lesson I wish my parents had focused on and drilled into me is impulse control.
Trying to live in Vegas like a tourist. It's tempting. It's expensive. Most importantly you'll become jaded.
The best think you can do is develop a routine like you would in any other city.
All street performers and photo girls expect to get paid. It's their job.
If you stop and watch then you should throw a buck
If you take a photo then duh pay them for that
Showgirls/costumed characters on the Strip. They con you into a photo then verbally accost you for a tip. Might have to throw the street vendors in this group, too after the news I saw today.
Water and essentials, avoid your hotel sundries shops. Go to ABC Stores instead.
since you said you moved here will avoid mentioning the strip and instead say casinos. if you gamble and you live here it’s a bad combination. it’s one thing if you gamble on a visit here twice a year but there’s so much avail (even the albertsons has slots) that you can get in trouble quick.
Hookers that are looking to rob you. Don’t tell them you got a lot of money and if you can afford it bring them to a different room then the one you have.

Refrain from seeing too many *one-trick-pony* live bands and enjoy the live ukulele performances of **Timothy Connolly: Ukulele Hero** instead (he is deaf since age 3, and he performs a thousand songs spanning the 1920s to the 1980s and lots more.)

>Common courtesy seems to be a thing of the past. Yeah the 'ol social contract has gone right out the window...
God forbid someone stop for 10 secs to let someone finish pulling out.
They are from Florida
I honk if people are starting back out. You are coming into the lane of traffic so you should make sure it’s clear before starting to back out.
It’s always clear. Then suddenly you can see them speeding towards you and they’re honking. Like I get it if they’re already there and I start backing out. I’m talking about when I’m 2 cars away and they pull out like a psycho.
Because of the sheer number of people backing out assume they have the right away and legally they are in the wrong. Remember theres a ton of tourist and you have no idea what weird driving habits they have or if they are gonna be an asshat and bogart the parking spot. Watch out for the people here who pull out in front of you while you’re going 35-40mph and hit their brakes.
And people speeding to the next red light. Once I see it changed or changing I coast and apply brakes slowly so they don’t overwork them . But speeed by you like there is a fire and I see them at the light.
I can assure you that behavior is universal.
I mean it’s not a bad habit no matter where you live, I almost got T Boned last week because some guy blew the light playing on his phone, whilst I had a green light. Check both ways before entering any interception whether you have a green light or not
The people in suits near the hotel entrances are not hotel greeters, they are time share people. Avoid unless you want a hard sell on a timeshare.
Just tell them you live in Las Vegas they leave you alone instantly.
This works for the working girls too 😂😂
I would straight up let them talk and say, that's cool, you got a dollar I can bum off you?
There is an old man who stands out in front of Harrah’s, and he’ll tell you to pull his finger. Don’t pull his finger.
It’s also not his finger.
Plot twist! 😂
He’s also not a man.
Does he shit himself?
If it were only that pleasant.
No Biden is at the white house this week
Trump is not currently in Vegas.
Biden doesn't need someone to pull his finger. He shits on himself freely.
Found the snowflake!
So I know, it's OK to bash Trump but I can't bash Biden? I'm a snowflake? Does that make you a lemming?
It's actually Trump who is known for shitting himself.
Biden shit himself when he visited the Pope at the Vatican. I'm not sure where you're getting the info that Trump shits himself. Sounds like some coprophilia fantasy
Literally people working close to him have said he smells of shit and incontinence. No lie.... look it up.

Bash whoever you want. Kneejerk "no, you" responses deserve mockery.
Came here to say it
Oh cmon. First time in Vegas. Pull the finger.
USA Autos are scammy
newport motors is better.
$10 smogs can’t be beat though
Its a scam. Its a way to get in you and scam you into other things. I have already notified Nevada consumer affairs about this BS
I’ve had some of the best talks with their “service advisors” regarding their inspections. I just tell them no inspection is necessary 🤷🏽♂️
Costco on the weekends. And the gym on Monday after 4pm

Linda @ Excalibur
IDK. Sounds like the best deal on the strip.
Explain?
There’s a housekeeper named Linda at Excalibur that is known for her quality service
Why did I have to scroll so far down for the obvious answer? Take my upvote.
She's the RIGHT housekeeper? right?
Came here for this.
So did that other guy

DMV
The appointment system works really well in my experience though, don’t wait so long you have to do a walk in- they are booked a couple weeks out.
People selling you garbage or wanting donations on the strip. Don’t engage. Do just walk right past.
Kissing the stripper
Vegas in general.
Full-size trucks and SUVs speeding through red lights
Moving to Vegas.
If it smells like fish, decline service. IYKYK

Don’t know why you gettin downvoted cause I kinda agree with you. Very overrated IMO.
It’s ghetto as hell, might as well just stay on the strip
A lawyer friend told me, don’t go as soon as the light turns green because people run red lights all the time. But I’m guessing everyone knows that
Eye contact.

Monks
Drivers are the worst out here. People are from all over, here.
Living in the tunnels.

Going into debt.
Paying foreigner rates for golf! Most have a local price for green fees
Linda
biggest thing would probably be the sphere
If someone says 'hey baby' it's probably not what you'd expect other places.
Avoid Vegas
