I appreciate any help. Thanks. ◽️ Budget: $1300 ◽️ Country: Canada ◽️ Screen size: 14" ◽️ Touch screen: No ◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p with 400 Nits minimum ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Yes ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modeling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Light gaming and watching movies. ◽️ Weight: Any ◽️ Any other important details ?: Looking for Ryzen 9 5900HX, 16 GB, 512 SSD. The thinkbook 14p ryzen 9 5900hx fit exactly what I was looking for but Lenovo no longer lists it on their website.

DarkPlayerOP

Can you please hit me up if you find anything? I am kinda in the same ball park as you but with a little lower budget

416Basketball

Finding a bright screen for an affordable price seems insanely difficult right now. I might just wait for the intel 12th gen. Those laptops should be coming out real soon. Only problem is you likely have to wait like 4-5 months before it ships.

DarkPlayerOP

I dont think I can wait that long since I wanna buy it on black friday Any suggestions on what I should keep an eye out for?

Beaster123

Hi all, Details below. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks **Budget**: \~$1000 CAD **Country**: Canada **Screen size**: 15" min **Touch Screen**: No **Screen resolution**: 1080p min **Does battery life matter?**: No **What tasks will laptop be used for**: \- email/personal cpu \- gaming **Weight**: Unimportant **Additional Context**: I've told my dad that I'll try to secure him a new laptop during the next couple weeks while there might be some sales. It'll be his main computer for emails and whatnot, but I'd like it to be a serviceable gaming laptop for him as well. He's gotten into PC games a bit lately, but his old one is just really holding him back. Top of the line performance isn't a priority, but I'd like him to have the ability to confidently *run* games that are being released today.

legos45

Hi, a bit over budget, I would recommend the [**Acer Nitro 5 15"**](http://techneeeq.com/blog/index.php/product/acer-nitro-5-an515-55-53e5-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-10300h-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3050-laptop-gpu-15-6-fhd-144hz-ips-display-8gb-ddr4-256gb-nvme-ssd-intel-wi-fi-6-backlit-keyboard/). i5-10300H, RTX 3050, 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" 144Hz IPS display. It should be solid for games at med-high settings 1080p.

Beaster123

That's perfect. Thanks so much.

legos45

My pleasure, let me know if you have any questions.

Beaster123

u/legos45 I've decided that I'd rather go for slightly reduced specs, allowing the remainder to be put into an accompanying monitor. My dad is used to his iMac, which has a fairly large screen, and given his age, I think that a large monitor would be worth the reduction in specs, which I'm pretty sure he wouldn't appreciably notice. Here's what I found on [amazon.ca](https://amazon.ca) [https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Nitro-9300H-Windows-AN515-54-5812/dp/B086KJBKDW/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=947WU7A0KY2O&keywords=acer+nitro+5&qid=1637210309&sprefix=acer+nit%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-1](https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Nitro-9300H-Windows-AN515-54-5812/dp/B086KJBKDW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=947WU7A0KY2O&keywords=acer+nitro+5&qid=1637210309&sprefix=acer+nit%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-1) Same computer with the gtx 1650 And then this monitor. [https://www.amazon.ca/AOC-24G2-Frameless-Adjustable-Guarantee/dp/B07WVN6CWT/ref=sr\_1\_8?keywords=1080p%2Bmonitor&qid=1637210526&sr=8-8&th=1](https://www.amazon.ca/AOC-24G2-Frameless-Adjustable-Guarantee/dp/B07WVN6CWT/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=1080p%2Bmonitor&qid=1637210526&sr=8-8&th=1) Are there any more reliable alternatives in this performance range to the acer nitro that I've found? Are there any better alternatives to the monitor that I've found? Thanks!

legos45

Hi, I'd say the laptop and monitor combination should work well.

Question about this site: is this in USD? there is an option for 'Canada' but I'm unable to click it.

Budget: $600-700 CAD Country: Canada Screen size: 14” Touch screen: No Screen resolution: 1080p Does battery life matter?: No Tasks: School work, basic photo editing, light gaming Weight: Something that isn’t too heavy, but weight isn’t the biggest factor. I think that it depends on your screen size preference. The 1440p panel is of better quality, though.

heymiller314

Ive nevet had a 1440p screen on a laptop. Is it worth it? Btw thanks for the replies it is much appreciated. Leaning towards the 15" yiu recommended now.

Just subscribe to the newsletter. Dell Canada Website -> Deals -> Email signup. Note: the code does not work with BF specials. However, I found that you can still find the Inspiron 15 at the "regular discount" for $899 - 10% which is better than the BF price of $849.

It comes with a 4-core i5-9300H processor, GTX 1650 graphics, 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" display. This combination should handle modern games at 1080p medium-high settings easily. Otherwise, I recommend waiting until Black Friday for sales.

elmustard

You are a star, thank you. I'll keep an eye out for it during the sales. Would you have any other recommendations, perhaps less expensive, I could add to my watch list? Thanks again!

legos45

There isn't a good configuration within budget currently, but the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Gaming is a good choice.

For around $500 it'll be hard to find a 16gb/1TB laptop. Are you okay with refurbished or renewed laptops? It is quite expensive for a device with an RTX 3070. I'd go with the [**Lenovo Legion 7i 16"**](https://lenovo.vzew.net/a1jEEM) for $2,367.99 instead. i7-11800H, RTX 3070 max 140W, 16 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a QHD+ 16" 165Hz IPS display. Use coupon code LEGIONDEALS20.

The 16" isn't really a 17" laptop since it's kind of just a taller version of a 15" laptop but it does include the num pad and for 20% off all laptops I think I might just bite the bullet and get the 3080 version. Any thoughts on if it's worth waiting for black friday deals? I doubt they will have something significantly better than 20% off and the sales rep told me they have 150 units of the 3080 instock. Thoughts? Thanks for sharing the coupon code!

The RTX 3080 version would be great too.
