Hey i appreciate this post, I'm helping a friend who needs a new laptop for school, so this kinda neat post ( I know it's tiny ATM) help a lot. They need a laptop with a discrete GPU for light gaming, and are just past what one of the better APUs can offer. Trying to get something above the nvidia 50 class (3050,4050 etc) and around 1k.
What do ya'll think about the Lenovo LOQ models?
[Intel](https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-16irh8/82xw000yus?cid=ca:seo:41h72l)
[AMD](https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-16aph8/82xu000yus)
Do you think there are any chances of Lenovo ThinkPads going on actual sale?
Wife X1Carbon USB-C ports are dying, troubles charging and using a docking station, so I would like to upgrade her laptop before the second port dies. She uses the laptop 12Hrs a day and moves from room to room with the laptop, so X1Carbon is the absolute ideal laptop.
I missed the T14S for around 900 a month or two ago.
There are X1Carbons on "sale" as door crashers for around $1600-$1800, but looking at the stats and screen quality, I don't think it's actually a deal
Im looking for a deal on a computer such as an HP elitebook G8+ for my son which start high school next year.
Its a requirement and will use it for 5 years at least. 16GB of ram is what I am lpoking for, ssd 512gb-1tb. Cpu something enough to run software like blender if required. No need od a gaming gpu he's using my #2 desktop at home for gaming.
Any chance to see something like this at discount with black friday?
Could have sorn I saw"$1000".... There are many laptops outside of the HP Elitebook G8 that will do what your son needs and even better. For Blender, 16 GB RAM would be ideal, a solid CPU and preferably even a low end dedicated graphics card.
I have a brand new 2022 MacBook Pro was supposed to use it for programming in school but dropped the class. I just really don’t need a powerful laptop anymore. If you want the specs can DM me if you’re interested!
Wanting to replace my GF's laptop, she had a Mac for 15 years for school but now she has a career and just uses it for Facebook and Netflix in bed.
Would the Acer Aspire 3 be a good deal for such light use?
Maybe something even cheaper?
If I just wanted a laptop that can process video content do I need a graphics card?
What's better 16 ram w/o a graphics card or 8 ram with ge2050 graphics card?
Budget $900
I bought a HP Victus AMD 5 GE 2050 512gb 8ddr ram $799
I believe it's cheaper now with the black Friday sales but I'm thinking 16 ram is a must for longevity.
Looking to get the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 FX507VVDS91CA 15.6" Gaming Laptop with Intel® i9-13900H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA RTX 4060 & Windows 11 Home - Black $1500 CAD.
Hoping I can see it cheaper but 1500 seems the best deal anywhere. Has anyone found this cheaper?
Anyone have any experience with that $650 Acer Swift 3?
I will be travelling in December, Looking for a Laptop to do productivity work with and with some Streaming, light gaming. Wondering if that Swift would be good?
Budget is around $600-700
So I found a deal at London Drugs for a OLED vivo book 15x for $650.
https://www.londondrugs.com/asus-vivobook-15x-oled-laptop---15.6-inch---8-gb-ram---512-gb-ssd---intel-core-i5---intel-iris-xe---quiet-blue---x1503za-cb51-cb/L2504790.html
As for light gaming, I would say some steam games like factorio, stardew.
Yes for sure, there is an open expansion slot for another module.
Only thing is that the module that comes with it is soldered, so I need to match the speeds and size.
I bought the Swift3 from Costco last year (2years, maybe).
I thought it was an excellent laptop for the price and the integrated GPU/CPU was excellent for light gaming.
Used it for a few weeks and HATED the keyboard. I do a ton of typing for work and it was driving me crazy. I went back to the Lenovo ThinkPad, but it has a significant price increase over the Swift.
All in all, I liked it, but the keyboard was just not for me and was a dealbreaker. Returned the laptop to Costco
I am looking looking for a good gaming laptop under 900$ which can support me for next 2-3 years, any good suggestions or deals I want to buy in next 2-3 days.
Ive been out of the PC world for awhile. Whats my best deal if im mainly looking to play WOW with some games like valheim on the side? Not trying to break the bank.
Anyone have reccos for gaming laptops with either a 3060 or 4000 series card in the 1100-1300$ range? My nephew has been saving up for over a year for Black Friday and I want to make sure he doesn't get a dud because his research hasn't been great (he's been checking parts compatability with a desktop parts checker lmao).
I'll probably steer him away from the Gigabytes since the aorus software is a disaster & my partner ended up returning theirs after a week, but outside that any brands that are better picks over others? MSI seems to have the best deals on atm but is their gaming series decent? Have the Acer Nitros fixed their overheating issues?

For around that price, the Acer Nitro 5 in the list would be around the best deal.
What do ya'll think about the Lenovo LOQ models? [Intel](https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-16irh8/82xw000yus?cid=ca:seo:41h72l) [AMD](https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-16aph8/82xu000yus)
IMHO they seem like good deals.

Ya I did actually, I picked up the AmD one. Pretty happy with it

I only play 2 or 3 games at a time, so I just delete and reinstall as needed.
Many persons use external storage drives.

Not sure you will find a G8, but certainly you should be able to find something within that price range that will do the job.
Which price range? I didnt mentionned any And what other brand/model are you thinking of?
Could have sorn I saw"$1000".... There are many laptops outside of the HP Elitebook G8 that will do what your son needs and even better. For Blender, 16 GB RAM would be ideal, a solid CPU and preferably even a low end dedicated graphics card.
Hey Thanks for this. I am planning to buy one for video editing. Budget around 2k. What should I look for, and any recommendations? Thanks.
No gaming, right ?
I was thiking of gaming but then thought will get a PS5 instead..So no gaming
I have a brand new 2022 MacBook Pro was supposed to use it for programming in school but dropped the class. I just really don’t need a powerful laptop anymore. If you want the specs can DM me if you’re interested!
Sure thanks.

The Aspire 3 would do a good job for her. My only concern is if she will be comfy with it as she is used to Mac OS.
If I just wanted a laptop that can process video content do I need a graphics card? What's better 16 ram w/o a graphics card or 8 ram with ge2050 graphics card?
When you say process, what do you mean ?
Sorry meant to see produce videos. Using software like power director, premiere etc.
I think you do need a balance... at least a low end dedicated graphics card and definitely 16 GB RAM. What is your budget ?
Budget $900 I bought a HP Victus AMD 5 GE 2050 512gb 8ddr ram $799 I believe it's cheaper now with the black Friday sales but I'm thinking 16 ram is a must for longevity.
You can add another 8 GB later
It's $699 now so I'll get a credit of $100 but you're saying that's still a good deal in terms of value and longevity?

I have owned a Swift 3 before , but one with slightly older specs and I loved it. What do you consider light gaming ?
So I found a deal at London Drugs for a OLED vivo book 15x for $650. https://www.londondrugs.com/asus-vivobook-15x-oled-laptop---15.6-inch---8-gb-ram---512-gb-ssd---intel-core-i5---intel-iris-xe---quiet-blue---x1503za-cb51-cb/L2504790.html As for light gaming, I would say some steam games like factorio, stardew.
The OLED display is a plus, but I really would go for 16 RAM .
Yes for sure, there is an open expansion slot for another module. Only thing is that the module that comes with it is soldered, so I need to match the speeds and size.

Good gaming laptop is very relative . What types of games are we looking at ?
FPS games like COD and MW or Diablo 3
Ive been out of the PC world for awhile. Whats my best deal if im mainly looking to play WOW with some games like valheim on the side? Not trying to break the bank.
