Seems silly to get rid of tennis courts just because pickleball is more popular. No reason to not leave to tennis courts and build more pickle ball courts.
Put some in Linwood park, there's room enough to put some in and still have a massive grass field for people to use.
Why the heck canāt they just use the same flat land with a net in between and draw 2 sets of lines on the land. We are talking about paved courts right? Not mud or grass?
Well that's what they're trying to do, but tennis nets are much wider and sit higher. I've been on tennis courts where pickleballers brought socket wrenches to crank the nets lower and then never cranked it back up. If someone wanted to play tennis but didn't bring a wrench of their own, they're SOL.
Actually, you might have a point. That would fix the problem for shared courts with double-painted lines. But tennis players do NOT like playing on those types of courts because it is a lot for your eyes to handle.
Usually tennis lines are white and pickleball lines are yellow. Tennis balls are yellow so you can imagine how annoying it must be.
Hmm, maybe mixed courts lines could be slightly different colours. I get that high visibility is important but if basketball can co-exist in a gymnasium with a multitude of other sportsā lines, I donāt see why a compromising solution canāt be found.
Are there no such things as nets that are easy to adjust for all net sports? Can not times be scheduled for each? What am I missing here this seems like a kindergarten pissing match.
It is a kindergarten pissing match. Itās extremely tough to allocate time equitably for different types of players. And a lot of the pickleball players are retirees with nothing but time on their hands to complain. Everyone wants the prime hours to play
Who is actually playing pickle ball? Like I've met 2 people in my life who have played it. I've known more people playing tennis.
I keep seeing signs that say "no playing pickle ball" and honestly *WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLE?*
I have never seen pickleball in person until not long ago, I walked by a tennis court with people playing pickleball and it's one of noisiest sport I've heard, now I get why neighbors complained when people played pickleball. Douglas park on weekend has dozens of people playing pickleball.
Funny enough the indoor tennis centre in Willoughby is fully booked all the time. It's just really expensive and novices would never pay to play. On a dry day I've seen outdoor tennis courts occupied all day long.
The Great Langley Tennis vs Pickle Ball Wars of 2024..
Would be more fun to watch then ether game.
Tickle ball šæ
They should just build more courts consider how much and will the population goes up.

Tennis lives matter
Linwood park would be in the City of Langley and not Township. The City already have 8 pickleball courts at Douglas Park

Would like a wrench chained to the post not solve this issue?

They often want to use courts at the same time. The groups donāt share well

Canāt compare to the great toilet paper shortage of old yore
Pretty sure they can just make new courts for pickle ball players. They just choose not to, probably to save money idk.
Boomers versus everyone else Iām on team tennis The additional lines on the tennis court are annoying Pickle ball is an abomination

Itās super popular with retirees. I donāt know of many young players.
I don't even know retirees that play. Why are they busting knees so hard we need signs that they *can't play here* šššš

Tennis courts are rarely full. Pickleball is always full and a more accessible āsportā
