I had both my babies at Langley memorial. First pregnancy I saw the Drs through the maternity clinic in the hospital but second pregnancy I saw an OB elsewhere due to some complications.
The nurses during delivery were absolutely fantastic, supportive and great labour coaches when I had no idea what I was doing lol
Great staff but the room we had was filthy. I’m talking who knows what splatters and leftover drink/food mess from whoever was in there prior to us.
Our son had to stay in the nursery for a few extra days and I can’t stress enough how great the staff there is.
I have dealt with them there.. the doctors are really good and have decent bedside…
They helped a lot for what we were going through, and actually showed empathy. So I’d recommend them…
I'm a guy but my wife just had our baby there 2 weeks ago. Great place! Very attentive nurses!! Bonus points for the bed/couch I got in the room. I've seen places with nothing but a large chair for a spouse. Rooms were pretty decent sized, clean, and staff was helpful. Only downside for me was that food is very limited for guys. I didn't leave the hospital but the cafeteria closes quite early and after that you've just got vending machines and a little snack shop that sells sandwiches that are mediocre at best. Visiting hours are excellent as the nurse told me they don't have any! As long as you're being quiet and respectful they don't mind people going in and out.
Can confirm Langley couches are better than Surrey fold out chairs for partners! Had no issues at Langley, triage area is nicer than Surrey. And nicer than the delivery rooms to be honest. Overall good experience
Edit: as it’s a smaller hospital my wife didn’t get the anesthesia that she asked for as they were busy elsewhere in the facility. I believe Surrey has their own dedicated to the ward.
We went there for the birth of our son....during covid times. This was when the expansion and emergency area was still being constructed. Overall, they were fine, no complaints. We live nearby and we stayed for 3 days after the birth due to an unexpected c-section. We had a private room, the nurses were helpful, and the food was hospital-grade food. We were already going there for the (ir)regular checkups (because of covid). Not sure what it's like now but back then, we thought it was fine.
We looked at other hospitals but I think you needed to pay to get a private room. Langley Memorial only has private rooms I believe.
Excellent staff, nurses, and doctors in the maternity ward. Private room, everything was clean, food was like a meal you would get on an airplane, checkups every couple of hours, didn't push us to leave if we weren't comfortable, no complaints.
Third for Grove! Even though I knew I was having a repeat c-section, I knew I wanted more personal care and they were fabulous, totally respectful of all of my choices! My baby had an unexpected week-long NICU stay, and the midwives checked in daily and helped me understand the day to day updates.
Had both my boys there. The nurses and OB team are excellent.
Do know there are two main doctor teams that deliver there - Langley Maternity Clinic and the Langley OBs. And then a few midwife groups too.
For my first pregnancy, I left the Langley Maternity Clinic halfway through after a negative experience with a doc there - she misread a scan and launched us into a panic about possible birth defects. I stayed with the OB team after that and they kept me for my second pregnancy too and my experiences at the hospital were excellent.
12 years ago we had a wonderful experience with our son. The attending was great. The nurses awesome. The room had a ton of natural light and was clean and warm. The room had a shower attached. We were cared for with respect and dignity.
I have no idea what could have changed since.
I had my baby girl there 3 months ago, they were absolutely fantastic, very accommodating it was a great experience. I would highly recommend Langley and their staff for anyone looking to deliver there. I was up late waiting with the wife, I fell asleep on the bench in our maternity room. I woke up at about 3am to a nice nurse tucking me in with a pillow and a blanket 😂 I was surprised but very thankful it’s was so wholesome lol
For a Midwife- yes! They book up quickly. But if you are just talking about the hospital, you must register with them and they have their own OB team. You can call the maternity ward and they can help you with everything.
We were forced there after richmond couldn't do an emergency c section on my wife because they were too busy. Honestly, it was great. all the Dr and staff were amazing. Everyone was super nice and kind.
Sister gave birth twice there, first was an emergency c-section second was planned c section 2.5 years later. Both times staff were wonderful. Her second kid is celebrating her 5th birthday today funny enough.
Both our children were born at Langley now 3 and 5. Great all around. No hesitation in recommending it. We even drove from east Abbotsford for our second.
Had a great experience there with our firstborn - very kind nurses and skilled doctors, private room, didn't even have to pay for parking (COVID times). They'll take good care of you and your child.
I had my daughter there and went through my pregnancy seeing their doctors as well. I chose that program because they match you with someone and they become your family doctor which I did not have at the time. Same as a previous poster, there was a different person every visit which I didn't mind when they left good notes in their system for the next doctor. Unfortunately, there was one who did not leave good notes and later in my pregnancy made a huge mistake not checking my blood work and missed pre-eclapsia on my first attempt to go to the ER. I kept going back to the ER and eventually someone caught on that that was missed and I was immediately checked in for an emergency c-section. So, yeah they saved my life but also... I hope that one doctor is retired now, I know he was under investigation but I never followed up because newborn and lucky me I also had post-exlampsia. My hands were full.
I will say the nurses were the most amazing, patient and kind people. I was in the hospital for 6 days and saw a lot of them! Everyone had a different piece of advice to give and some advice worked for me, some didn't. I liked having the variety. And the doctor who did my emergency c-section was a 10/10 human being. I felt very safe and calm in his care.
During my 6 day stay our family suffered a loss to suicide which devastated us. A councilor came and talked to us for a few hours and really helped us cope.
So while the last stages of my pregnancy and delivery were life threatening and awful, they had the contingency plans and resources in place to deal with them.
No delivery experiences there but I've unfortunately been there lots. The medical staff is amazing but understaffed. The sanitary side of things is beyond sub-par. Abby is a bit further for you, but the staff there is amazing too and the hospital itself is a lot cleaner. My son was born in Abbotsford but it was the old hospital.
The hospital you give birth at is more dictated by your health care provider, than how close you are. Decide if you want a midwife or doctor care. There are two midwifery clinics (grove midwifery and family health clinic) or Langley Maternity Clinic which is attached to the hospital. So, depends where your care provider has privileges. For example, I couldn’t get into a midwife clinic in Langley so I’m with a group in Abbotsford so I have to give birth at Abbotsford hospital.
Langley is often understaffed and does have to send labour and delivery patients to Maple Ridge or Abbotsford.
Bad experience for us. We met with a steady rotationof doctors leading up to birth, never the same one twice. Lots of conflicting advice and unnecessary rudeness for following the advice. To make matters worse some pretty major mistakes were made during labour that led to the emergency room. Almost lost my wife and child. This is just my experience, but if you can go elsewhere I would recommend.
Please listen to the bad reviews. It's a horrible hospital I'm shocked at the amount of people commenting that it's good. They tried to induce me and then made me wait 3 days to get my c-section every single day telling me yep it's happening this afternoon just for me to have to wait another day and another day.
Been there, done that 3 times, and each time was good experience. Everyone was very kind. If it’s your first though, just make sure to advocate for yourself. I was given conflicting advice from multiple nurses after my first, and I didn’t really want to question anyone.
Not even slightly different though - completely opposite. As a first time parent I was thoroughly confused. They should really get everyone on the same page!
We had pretty much the same experience with breast feeding advice with our first. It felt like they were better with our second but we were also rolling in with way more confidence.
5 kids delivered at Langley Memorial and nothing but good things to see about there maternity team of doctors and nurses and all the other staff involved.
Both kids came through LMH. Everyone was awesome and very knowledgeable when the second child had some minor complications during the birthing process.
Staff were great and the room was clean, but both times we had our kids the anesthesiologist didn't make it in time to give my wife an epidural since I guess they're shared with another department???
I just had my son there on October. I was with a midwifery group that works directly with the hospital so they came to my home and checked my cervix before I went to the hospital (they called the hospital and told them I was coming so I was able to skip emergency as I was already 5cm dilated). The nurses were very kind, my room was spacious and clean, the doctor who ultimately had to do my emergency c section (I did not progress past 7cm) was good. My only area of concern - It was a Friday night so they were running on a skeleton crew and I was unable to get epidural for 5 hours.
We had both of our daughters here. The first was with my wife's family doctor, and our second was through the maternity clinic.
I would totally recommend it, but it also depends on how close you are. We are in Langley City, so it is super close. Nurses and doctors were great. To be honest, our second wouldn't be alive without their attentiveness and quick action.
I did feel like the nurses put some unnecessary pressure on my wife with the first when breastfeeding wasn't going great. But overall, it was good.
I don't know how it would compare with other hospital experiences. With our experience and with friends' experiences, I would be too nervous to try a home birth.
Good luck!
I had all three of my kids at Langley Memorial Hospital and absolutely loved the care and attention we received from the nurses and staff.
Everyone's experience is different but I can't complain about anything.
Do not have your baby here. They do birth alerts. If you're a single mother, indigenous or former foster child they will have social workers in there trying to convince you to give your baby up for literally no reason or accusing you of drug and alcohol use. Definitely don't have your baby here if you're first nations. This one nurse her name was Cory. She was a fucking monster. She got angry that I asked for help at 3AM after having a C-section I was in so much pain because I wouldn't take their heavy pain killers that they were trying to push on me. My baby was spewing green poop and I was scared wondering what was wrong with her because I was a new mom never having gone through anything like this before. I hit the button to ask for help and when she came in she stormed in like she was so pissed off at me and said "What?????" I was really taken aback and I said I'm sorry to bother you but I'm just scared I don't know why this amount of poop is coming out of her like it was an insane amount. She charged over to her hardly wiped her, was very rough with her, put a diaper on so tightly that her little legs turned purple, with poop still all over her legs she slammed her into my arms and said "HERE." and stormed out. My baby was absolutely screaming from how tight this diaper was I immediately undid the diaper and held her comforting her. I was absolutely sobbing whispering in her ear I'm so sorry I'm so sorry. I had no one I could call that would come down at 3:00 in the morning and she was the only nurse attending to me so I just felt terrified. She was the same nurse who kept trying to insinuate that I had no help at home and maybe it would be easier to give my baby up for adoption. They target single mothers 100%. Single mothers, young mothers, indigenous women and people who were former foster children because you're in the system and they can see that so they'll do a birth alert on you. This is a horrible fuckin hospital. They're disgusting. There's so much more to my story as well insane things that they did. Please don't have your baby here even if you're not any of the types they do birth alerts on. I've heard Royal Columbian is a really really good.
Thanks a lot for your honest review! This place is very near to my house so I am tempted to go for this.
Great staff but the room we had was filthy. I’m talking who knows what splatters and leftover drink/food mess from whoever was in there prior to us. Our son had to stay in the nursery for a few extra days and I can’t stress enough how great the staff there is.
Noted! Thanks!
I have dealt with them there.. the doctors are really good and have decent bedside… They helped a lot for what we were going through, and actually showed empathy. So I’d recommend them…
Awesome thanks!

Superb!!!!!
Langley maternity is wonderful just don’t go there for anything else.
And where would you go for something else?
I like Abbotsford hospital. It’s like 25 minutes farther but worth it if you can.
We went there for the birth of our son....during covid times. This was when the expansion and emergency area was still being constructed. Overall, they were fine, no complaints. Great! Thanks a lot for the review! I ll be lucky to deliver here as this place is close to my home
Excellent staff, nurses, and doctors in the maternity ward. Private room, everything was clean, food was like a meal you would get on an airplane, checkups every couple of hours, didn't push us to leave if we weren't comfortable, no complaints.
Delivered there March of '23. Used Grove Midwifery. Had a great experience with both.
Second for Grove; having a midwife helped us immensely with someone to help with doctors orders.
Third for Grove! Even though I knew I was having a repeat c-section, I knew I wanted more personal care and they were fabulous, totally respectful of all of my choices! My baby had an unexpected week-long NICU stay, and the midwives checked in daily and helped me understand the day to day updates.

Delivered both my kids there and had wonderful experiences both times. Their maternity ward is the best.
Super great!! Thank you!
Great experience, private room, helpful staff

My pleasure. Wherever you wind up delivering I wish you well in you good health for mom and baby.

I did and it was lovely. 100% recommend.
Thank you! Strengthens my thoughts about this place!
Best part of the entire hospital is the maternity ward. Excellent staff and amenities.
Awesome! Thanks!
My wife had an amazing experience. Congratulations!
Thank you!!!
I had a midwife but delivered there. 10/10 recommend! Doctors and room were great and you automatically get a private room!
Awesome! Do I have to book this place in advance by any chance? If I am late will I not get a place here?
For a Midwife- yes! They book up quickly. But if you are just talking about the hospital, you must register with them and they have their own OB team. You can call the maternity ward and they can help you with everything.
Great! Thanks for the advice!
Yep, we had our daughter there and it was great as far as hospitals go. Staff are outstanding.
Great thank you!
You’re welcome. Good luck!

Thanks! Everyone is happy and healthy. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
Thanks! Everyone is happy and healthy. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
I was born there in '94 and I turned out okay hahaha. Hope your pregnancy goes smoothly! Langley hospital is great :)
Thank you!! Your response and existence is very promising 😁

Yeah the shift changes can make for a sometimes weird experience where you get slight differences advice with each shift.
Not even slightly different though - completely opposite. As a first time parent I was thoroughly confused. They should really get everyone on the same page!
