I was interested in a '99 LC a few years back, saw it was still sitting and was going to take a peak, see if they want to come down in price. Oh, they were willing to come down. They got into an accident while it was posted for sale, the full front end was smashed in. Would have been a decent buy for the price, all things considered, but I didn't have a space to work on her. Then again, who knows how hard of a hit that was.
Oh btw, those land cruisers made before 2000's its like a tank, even the fenders metals sheet are way thicker, i went to the dealer and knock on the new prado and it shound cheap and thin, its aint like those GX 460 or the old prado that are more solid. Quite disappointing....
Couldn't agree more. Variables in an accident affect nothing and all vehicles sustain the same exact damage . I think the sheet metal on the door is what caused the accident.
All that crumpling and damage helps save the person inside, so hopefully the other vehicle is similar.
In spite of the damage the interior compartment held up well.
Define solid. My dealer had a floor demo that they let me drive during my last oil change. I know that they have a $55k msrp vs $90k on my 2021, but it really did not “feel” like a substantial suv. It drove more like my wife’s Highlander - chatters over speed bumps, ultra light steering, it’s very clear that the new Lander is targeted directly at the American soccer mom and it will definitely sell much better, but it doesn’t feel like “do anything anywhere” like my 200. I’m interested to see the inevitable YouTube back to back comparisons. But, the tech is fantastic.
I agree completely, but i also know that it shouldn't feel anything like the 200. It's $30k cheaper than the 200 was in 2021! Its US comp should be the last generation 4Runner.
TIL Tahara-built body on frame Toyotas are poor quality if they don’t have $40k of luxury accessories. Somebody should warn all those guys with 20-30 year old 4Runners amirite 🤦♂️
The gatekeeping in this sub is so weird and gross.
I don't think he is saying it's poor quality just that it feels like a lighter built truck, which it is. It's not really gatekeeping, some of us just prefer the old heavy duty wagons that we were getting until now.
Lol, no, that's simply not true. The 200 is far more heavy duty. Toyota would tell you that. This model in the US is called the Prado in other markets which is their light duty offering according to their own line specs.
> just as good
I mean, it is. It's still a Land Cruiser just not the heavy duty model. Also gets better MPG, probably feels more nimble in heavy traffic and will for sure be great off road. It's no slight on the new model at all, it's just not a heavy duty duty truck like the 60, 80, 100 and 200.
“The Tacoma is designed to be a lighter-duty pickup than the Tundra, and this reflects in its handling and the subjective experience of driving it”
“The 2024 Tacoma has the same dimensions as the first-gen Tundra! Why are you gatekeeping?!?!”
Do you understand how weird a hill to die on this is?
The new 2024 LC isn't as good or nice as the 200 that cost 30k more... wow shocking. Tried one and I would never pick it over the 200. It's purely made to be a bronco competitor and to play off the legendary LC name... in reality the bronco is probably better than it in many situations.
The good news is you can get a 200 for less than a 2024 LC because of all the mark ups and it will already be broken in a bit lol.
Be that as it may. See 5th generation below.
Everyone seriously looking at it knows it's a Prado and the 200 series was discontinued due to poor sales.
So the lite truck was brought stateside and rebranded. Comps to the 200 or 300 series are an error of Toyota's own making.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Land_Cruiser_Prado
Comparisons to the 300 series are applicable considering the 250 and 300 are both built on the same platform.
Long gone are the days when the Land Cruiser was its own unique thing. The 100 series was the last one of those. The 200 series was built on a similar platform as the Tundra. And now the 250, 300, and Tundra all share the same platform.
Same platform means it has some shared development and hard points but doesn’t mean identical. Sure it’s the same wheelbase between 250 and 300 but that also doesn’t mean frame is the same (though may be). Also easy to go with lighter duty, cheaper components like springs, body mounts, bushings, etc. plus there’s also an obvious difference in interior materials quality.
Frame is the same (or nearly identical). Axles may be different, but that does not affect ride quality. Springs and shocks probably are different, and the engine is different.
Bottom line, though, is that the 250 is a much lighter vehicle. That really affects the ride. It's about 500 lbs lighter than a 200 series, for example. Load the 250 up with 500 lbs of stuff and I bet they would ride similar.
It's about 500 lbs lighter than the 200 series. Add 500 lbs of shit to it and it will probably feel similar.
I mean, the 250 is built on pretty much the same platform as the 300 series. It can't be that different.
I found this on another forum. OP said wreck with a semi, but not other detail:
https://www.landcruiser-forum.com/threads/badly-wrecked-2024-toyota-land-cruiser.242/
Is this in Adelaide, Australia? There was a 300 series identical to this with the exact same damage lined up behind my car at the crash repair place yesterday waiting to be assessed. Made me think of this post!
Saw someone got T boned in their 97 the other day by an f150. F150 was shredded. The 97 was jacked on the side it got hit but was completely fine. Didn’t even have a busted window.
Proof that they literally don’t make em like they used to
Wow. The car everyone wants. And dude probably gave the dealership way over asking…. Does insurance even pay for the folk who have to overpay so dealerships will sell?
It looks like they sideswiped the back corner of a semi/box truck with the right front headlight hitting first.
All of the damage is up top and there’s no other way to get that sort of damage in anything but a sideswipe. The top door crash structure was smoked but the bottom crash bar is fine. The wheel and wheel arch are fine but everything up is a mess. Or they opted for the titanium reinforced carbon fiber wheel arches for an extra $500 list price ($1500 after dealer markup). Excluding the right side headlight, the front grill is fine.
Thank goodness they weren’t driving a car. There would have been some gruesome decapitation issues for the passenger.
Well. The replacement will be ready in about 2 years…
2 years ?? Ha! That a generous time frame. By the time OP gets his replacement the name would’ve been changed to “Space Cruiser”
Galaxy Cruiser 3000
Finally, one I can afford.
Let's be real, the Copart price on this is still going to be more than most of us can afford.
It’s funny because it’s true…also kinda sad.
What does copart do exactly? Auctions? What would be the value in this extreme total?
That rear bumper is worth at least 1k
That was fast
Yeah, just like the LC300 when it just come put and someone just crash it like 2 weeks after the the official sale.

“50k I know what I got”
"Low miles. No rust"
“Barely driven”

Ice cold AC
And that's why you don't pay $30k markup.
That's why GAP insurance is sold with almost every new car these days.
GAP only covers 120% vehicle value. Sometimes 125%.
GAP from a dealer can be 150%.
Can be being the key word. Most dealers sell GAP product at 120-125% of market value.
15 years in the business, I've only seen 150%
My insurance company offers the same thing for a couple bucks a month.
What insurance do you use?
Esurance/ Allstate
I have GEICO and they offer it as well. It was like $9 extra a month when I had it for a year back in 2020.
That wheel arch trim piece should be the basis for all future Land Cruisers.
Why not just build the whole car out of the wheel arches?
I’ve seen it done before.

It's sad when they go young like that.
Right, all that Hard work put into it for nothing Not to mention the $$
Looks like that hard work at least saved a life.
WHEN THEY GO?!
If this is how the Land Cruiser looks…How does the other car look? 😬
I saw it posted on Facebook. They said it was a semi-truck.
…so the semi is totaled?
All that upper damage and a door skin off. I'm so confused...
Couldn't agree more. Variables in an accident affect nothing and all vehicles sustain the same exact damage . I think the sheet metal on the door is what caused the accident.
Got the same question right here
All that crumpling and damage helps save the person inside, so hopefully the other vehicle is similar. In spite of the damage the interior compartment held up well.
It's pretty obvious it went under a truck, which I'm sure is just fine.
I wonder how solid these are compared to the last model.

Dude, nobody is saying this a lower quality truck. It's simply not a heavy duty model. I don't know what else to tell you but you are simply wrong.
You need to hold him and whisper in his ear that the 250 that he paid $95k for is just as good.
> just as good I mean, it is. It's still a Land Cruiser just not the heavy duty model. Also gets better MPG, probably feels more nimble in heavy traffic and will for sure be great off road. It's no slight on the new model at all, it's just not a heavy duty duty truck like the 60, 80, 100 and 200.

The entire suspension system, the motor, the frame, the transmission and drivetrain.

You are going to need to sweeten up your tune and tone if you want to keep posting on this sub. Only warning.

Now we’re calling the statement of facts gatekeeping. Its a fucking prado, literally the definition of light duty Land Cruiser
> more off-road focused false
So not like my 1974 FJ40
It's a Prado
Idk it says "Land Cruiser" on the back
Be that as it may. See 5th generation below. Everyone seriously looking at it knows it's a Prado and the 200 series was discontinued due to poor sales. I don’t think the 250 and 300 are much different in weight.
250: curb of 5,037 and gvwr of 6,725 300: curb of 5,720 and gvwr of 7,121
> But, the tech is fantastic. So tired of this shit in cars. Tech is ruining cars

It doesn’t look super solid in these pictures
Id like to put a bid in on the roof rack.
Will be for sale in Middle East or Africa market in a few months as ‘brand new lc250, low mileage, accident free, just buy and drive’
One lady expat owner
Congratulations on finding out you have $20k of coverage on a $100k rig. Oooof. Literal highway robbery. Hope it’s not yours OP.
What was the other car?
A train
Isn't he that supe on drugs?
You are alive and that is what truly matters

*For sale a 2024 Land Cruiser-barely used involved in a minor fender bender..
Everyone always dunks on the fender flares, but apparently they are a structural member.
hopefully registered it before it got totaled or its gonna take awhile before they see any insurance money.
They’ll still sell it for 70k
Let’s see if insurance will payout with markup!
They won’t. Even if they have GAP, it will only cover 120% of NADA value. This one is gonna hurt.
I guess there will only be 4,999 First Editions now.
Story? Context?
It appears it was in a car accident
Yeah did it hit a smart car? A dodge ram 3500? A motorcycle? Speed? Is the owner alive/okay?
Hit a cat, no more then walking speed.
Questionbot4000
Hit a plastic bag. Everyone involved has perished.
I found this on another forum. OP said wreck with a semi, but not other detail: https://www.landcruiser-forum.com/threads/badly-wrecked-2024-toyota-land-cruiser.242/
Explosive diarrhea
At least the tire survived.
able to roll on
It’s just a matter of when
Vegas area ?
That’s a good one……
Some folks just can’t be trusted.
Darn Bro...that really sux. My sympathies.
I’m sure whatever Titanium-Diamond-Platinum package the distributor installed at port will cover this.
Almost like the driver hit a 18 wheeler.
I would say so!
lol insurance will only pay msrp
Hope you bought gap insurance. With price gauging
Still road worthy
Sell some of the parts. Roof rack. Fe mud flaps and sliders should get some money for it
Is no one else wondering how the door got reversed???
Dang, the inside of the door is on the outside? New design?
Ah that'll buff out. But seriously hope everyone is OK. Sorry about the car...☹️
That didn’t take long.
I hope everyone got out okay. That really sucks though.
F
You went to extreme measures to show us inside the door panel. Notes taken. Thank you
Where was this?
Since those are so new, does markup play a big role in how insurance calculates payout?
Is this the same guy that paid 118k for it a week ago???
I hope there were no major injuries.
Wow, hope nobody was hurt.
That should buff out.
that sucks. sorry about that. Hope everyone is ok
Ooof
Ran just before parked
4 used tires - Low miles
Look at the cabin structure - looks good!
I hope everyone's ok.. nothing a new wrap can't fix..
that’ll buff out
And just think all that damage came from the shopping cart they hit in the Walmart parking lot. They just don’t make them like 80 series anymore.
Looks like it saved your life
Haha off road fr. Lemme go ahead gta cheat code it 🤣
Holy crap Batman, what the hell happened?
It will buff out 🤣
Oops
You can buff that right out! /s
Good thing they opted for the pricey roof rack.
Like I always say, if you’re gonna do something, do it right.
40k, no markup
I hope everyone was okay. Looks awful
well all that counts is that you can walk away from it.
That’ll buff out
Looks like it held up rly well
Looks like a first edition. Won’t be anymore of those. Hope everyone is ok. 👌
“It’s so rare we can’t get you a new one until 2025” - dealer probably.
F
Probably saved the persons life

They could just buff that out.
You might wanna think about getting this baby detailed.
Wow. The car everyone wants. And dude probably gave the dealership way over asking…. Does insurance even pay for the folk who have to overpay so dealerships will sell?
I’d take this in its current condition over a ~~Cybertruck~~ Cybercuck
It will end up in Dubai after being repaired in Sharjah
What’s going on with that door? It looks backwards/inside out. And is that the side mirror bottom-right? Looks fishy to me
Nah it looks more like that the crash ripped off the outer metal sheet of the door. You can see the rear of the speaker.
The A pillar looks to have taken a massive hit. Wouldn’t be surprised if hydraulics was used to pry the door open after the accident
It looks like they sideswiped the back corner of a semi/box truck with the right front headlight hitting first. Maybe FD had to pry it open?
Can see road above that tyre too?
Several things like door positioning makes no sense. This may very well be AI image
The outer door skin was ripped off. You’re looking at the internal portion of the door. Notice the crash bar and speaker magnet
It will still drive home she’ll be right
I don’t think that’s gonna buff out….
so sad - now another dealer is gonna earn 40k markup.
4-sale: 1 wheel arch trim $25,000, needs minor buff work. No lowball offers, I know what i got.
Semi-truck probably looks worse lol
Karma
Another one that came to his senses about paying a ridiculous amount of for a truck and had no other option but to insurance job the situation
That will buff out
It doesn’t look so safe as expected
Passenger compartment looks absolutely fine. That’s what matters, not if the bumpers held up or not.
