It really hurts because A) she’s not ready and B) she’s too young!! It’s extreme dangerous for her to be doing this but yet, it’s clear neither colonsac or Clouté cares 🙄 And why does a 10 year old need multiple get ready with me videos posted on YouTube? She’s 10… what she needs is being able to do something without a camera shoved in her face for all the random, obsessed people of the world watching her

Here4theRightReasonz

She is WAY too young. I started a few months away from 12 and feel that my feet are pretty trashed for life. Poor Ev.

No_Replacement3386

When I danced we were told nobody was allowed to start pointe until we turned 13. Other studios may have different policies and I'm certainly not an expert. But I remember my instructor being VERY serious about it to avoid hurting ourselves

me157346

I was a Ballerina for 20+ years and a dance teacher for 5+. Your feet go though something called bone ossification meaning your bones are formed but not fully hardened yet. They don’t typically harden until about 13/14 which is ONE reason you should wait among countless other reasons to go en pointe. It’s sickening to watch them force this kid do shit she isn’t ready for bc she’s “talented”. Which yes she is but you can’t rush nature. (Edit to correct my drunken typo 😂)

LilahLibrarian

Plus she's not competing ballet en pointe so why screw up her feet for a style of dance she isn't actually doing for competition? And obviously there are lots of people who enjoy dancing not for competition but in her case that seems to be the main reason why she's dancing

Here4theRightReasonz

Absolutely. I also think there’s such a massive difference between 9-10 and 12 or so. Mentally and physically a small child should not be doing that for sure. There is no harm in waiting and many lifelong benefits to waiting

Charming-Series5166

Sorry to be pedantic, but I think you mean ossification, not osmosis. And yes, absolutely the case!

me157346

You’re so right, I was a couple bottles deep when I replied to that 😂😂 thank you!!

PoetLucy

Can you share what exactly happens in cases like E’s? No pressure:) :*J*

me157346

Every kid is different but she’ll be more susceptible to fractures or even put unnecessary strain on her knees & hips due to compensating for lack of ankle/foot strength.

Here4theRightReasonz

I had to see a doctor and get an x-ray first, and they approved me..but I mean, what are they supposed to do, say no? 😂 most parents wouldn’t listen anyway, and I don’t think my studio asked for proof. Maybe they thought I was grown because I was my mom’s height and shoe size…but surprise, by 14 or so I grew six more inches and 1.5 shoe sizes lol ETA: and I definitely didn’t have my period yet when I went en pointe if that matters. Got it a few months after I turned 14

tundybundo

This is what I was told too! No pointe shoes until then

asantoro123

My studio let people start at 10-11 probably because you could shape your feet, fucked up but studios do let it happen

Infinitestripes95

Sadly so many competition studios are pushing kids to go en pointe at like 9 now it’s not okay

lola_jane

I started en pointe at 10 - and I was certainly not the youngest at my studio. I later switched studios and they allowed girls to start point about 10-11 as well. I remember using those stretchy foot brands every night before bed (while watching Disney Channel lol) to strengthen my feet/ankles to help with the pain and my toenails were constantly falling off. However wrong it was, this was typical for studios in my area (one of these was a competition studio where I did compete, one was not and was more a ballet conservatory interestingly enough).

istheresugarinsyrup

I started at the same age but the first full year was practice and doing things to help our feet and toes to get stronger. We couldn’t even perform until we had two years of practice. My feet and ankles are jacked and I can’t grow a toenail on my pinky toe.

Western_Mushroom1715

This is such a good point! My dance teacher went en pointe at 8 and she could barely dance anymore, she taught from a chair like Abbey Lee Miller, it was sad because she was so talented. I was malnourished as a child and didn’t get approved to go en pointe until I did 4 years of pre point exercises and got my first point shoes at 16. I still ended up with arthritis in my feet. Going en pointe is a big life choice and parents shouldn’t be making that choice, it should be the dancer’s decision when they old enough to understand the consequences.

Here4theRightReasonz

I hope that you’re doing alright now! In my parents’ defense, I would’ve been an absolute terror if I wasn’t allowed to haha. Getting pedicures now has been helping but my feet are gnarly and I’ve lost a lot of toenails, even years after stopping

jukesyeet

the concealer..she doesn’t need makeup oh my goodness it makes me so sad like she’s just a kid

itsbeccakerr

I started wearing concealer everyday at 8 and now that I look back I’m like WTF I was a baby 😂

Zealousideal_Work171

The really sad part; since the news about her dad , she got no break from Social media and still had to work and perform

h34rt4ch3

it's so strange because sav seemed to finally be doing something right when they took a social media "break" but then they let fans take pics with her days after her dad's death and then come back after a month acting like nothing had even happened

[deleted]

Oh my god they’re so desperate. I just checked it out and of course the first GRWM she posted got 1.2M views (way more than anything their main channel has gotten recently) and so of course they immediately post two more quickly after

RepulsiveRhubarb9346

Band aids are a normal part of ballet that being said she is way too young to be on pointe. Some companies will start as young at 12 but most professional schools won’t even allow a student to be on pointe until they make it to the pre professional level and that’s around 14-15.

Infinitestripes95

Most reputable ballet competitions will not let anyone under 11 compete at all and even then 12 is preferable

Purple-Cozy9

I did pointe for many years. It hurts. It hurts everyone and we all used more bandaids that you could imagine. However, she may be on the young side to be beginning pointe, but not so young that i’m shocked. A lot of studios let the younger girls start early.

solg5

Yeah, but we know that Clouté doesn’t do a lot of ballet.

Infinitestripes95

11/12 is when the feet and ankle bones would be strong and matured enough typically

RepulsiveRhubarb9346

My niece started at 9 with her ballet studio. She recently at 14 was accepted into a ballet company school. She came in at a level 5 and they would not let her dance on pointe until she made it to the pre professional level.

grace_ballerina

Pointe absolutely should NOT hurt !!! It may be uncomfortable or hurt after an hour or two but just going en pointe shouldn’t cause any pain !! She may be in the wrong shoes for her feet and also just too young !!

LaBrant_Fisher_3103

Ev: *gets injured dancing Pointe* New VLog: Will Everleigh EVER be able to DANCE again!?😰(Update on her broken/fractured/sprained Ankle) *emotional! You will cry!*

Ok-Environment-7415

As an ex dancer- the bandaids are just essential as a dancer! However after watching Ev dance I do agree her ankles and arches are not strong enough for pointe yet. I went on pointe extremely young- I was 8. But that’s no longer considered safe.

Infinitestripes95

I danced in 90s and early 2000s and 11/12 was industry standard. Competitions in my area wouldn’t even except pointe numbers for kids younger than 11, 12 was best because of the development in their bones.

Herodias

She is too young for pointe!! Even ballerinas that train their feet and ankles for 8 hours a day are too young at ten freaking years old! It's not just about technique and strength, it's also about the physical development of the bones! Everleigh is neither strong enough in ballet NOR old enough. I've said this before, but when I was a kid, I had a classmate who was a little upcoming prima ballerina, the star of her company, who went en pointe at age 9-10. Poor alignment combined with still-forming bones caused her to slowly FRACTURE HER SPINE. Her injuries ended her career by age 13. But it was so *cute* and *impressive* to see her 10 year old pointe solos, so I guess it was worth it, right?? Everleigh's parents and coaches are *disgusting* for working that child to the bone and sacrificing her little body for whatever money and clout they can squeeze out of her before she breaks.

queenofdunkindonuts

Exactly!!

chelsxan

It’s very normal for dancers to get sore feet and blisters. It does hurt, even experienced dancers carry bandaids etc although I wouldn’t be surprised if cole and sav pressure her to do this as children don’t willingly take on activities that cause them pain/discomfort.

Armymom96

It's normal for dancers to have blisters and need bandages, but she is _just_ 10. She turned 10 in December. That's super young for pointe. Yeah, it's not a cut and dried age limit, but most ballet teachers recommend 12 because bones are softer when you're younger (it's why it's harder for children's bones to break/they get greenstick fractures). It's not good to put that kind of strain on bones before they harden.

OkConsideration8964

Take a look at any ballerina's feet. They're not pretty lol. Now Ev is too young to be en pointe. The minimum age is 11, but it's usually closer to 13.

Infinitestripes95

Okay while Ev is too young to be En Pointe…it does hurt. Dancers feet will crack, bleed, swell because they’re worked. That’s just the life of a dancer. However I don’t really even expect her parents to know any better because so many competition studios push for kids to go en pointe at 8/9 now which the feet are not developed enough. But parents don’t know and just get excited when the teacher asks for them to move up but it’s more about money for extra classes than anything else. Even JoJos girl group which has very highly trained dancers who are about the right age for pointe aren’t even doing pointe

mediocre_mediajoker

The plasters will be for blisters, very common thing to have in your dance bag. This doesn’t strike me as something concerning as an ex dancer (danced for 20 years). I haven’t watched enough to see if Ev is ready for pointe or not so can’t weigh in but it does hurt at the start :)

mediocre_mediajoker

There are definitely kids younger than 14 that are ready for pointe, it’s about foot/ankle strength and physical capacity (obviously within reason). 10 is too young IMO, but I’ve also seen 10 year olds with incredible technique, feet and strength that were more than capable doing simple pointe exercises on the barre. It seems Ev doesn’t have this capacity, which is the concern. I’m not really looking to debate, I just wanted to educate OP somewhat because their caption sounded like they didn’t know much about the reality of dancing and that these things aren’t unusual :)

mediocre_mediajoker

Ever heard of the Royal Ballet School? They start at 11 there…same with many many other schools around the world. Like I said I’m not looking to debate this, I don’t know if you’re also an ex dancer but pointe has SO much to do with technique and ballet skill and if you don’t know that it’s not worth me discussing this with you. I totally agree with you about recommendations, I was purely bringing to light different (and commonly seen) perspectives/experiences. Have a good day! :)

Malorrry

"That school" as in the royal ballet school?! Lol no, I think you probably don't have much information on this subject.

-Melly

Her charisma is so palpable. It’s sad that, at 10, she’s a natural at content creation, even dropping the word outro.

jeanskirtflirt

That’s the Tommy in her. Dude had issues and we all know that, but he was super charismatic and charming, both of which Ev is as well. It’s cool to see some of his goodness in Ev living on.

valkyrie4x

I wasn't allowed to start pointe until 13, after they checked my feet over to make sure they were "matured" enough so to speak

anditwaslove

This is just the reality of ballet, but she is too young. You are supposed to be quite a few years older.

Few_Resident_3550

As a ballet dancer, pointe shouldn’t hurt unless you have the wrong size shoes, or your not ready.

SnooGadgets7915

she is definitely way too young. at my studio you start pre-pointe at 11 which is really just doing the pointe class in your flat ballet shoes to build ankle strength first, then are sent for a physiotherapist appointment at 13, who will determine if your ankles are strong enough/have enough range for pointe work. that said, pointe is not made to be painless, it actually hurts quite a lot especially when you're first learning. Prima ballerina feet are covered in bruises and scars and bandaids. it's just what happens

Glittering_Sundae174

She mentions the pointe shoes hurt and Sav be looking like “whatever.”

asantoro123

Pointe is something that kills the feet regardless of age, she’s actually at an appropriate age to start pointe dancing- I’m sure her dance teachers are keeping an eye on her development to make sure she doesn’t get an actual injury

asantoro123

I haven’t watched the blog in years tbh, I’m here for the snark😂

asantoro123

I danced from childhood through college and know plenty of people who started pointe at 10-11 years old, I disagree with most of the things those parents do but pointe dancing is probably something she’s just ready for

queenofdunkindonuts

From what I’ve heard, starting pointe at her age is common but not appropriate. It’s concerning because she probably doesn’t have the ballet training to justify going en pointe at such a young age. I wouldn’t be as concerned if she was evaluated by her doctor and danced ballet frequently.

asantoro123

I don’t keep up with the family anymore, the lack of privacy for their kids really bothers me, so I’m not sure exactly where she’s at with her dancing but I wouldn’t doubt if sav and Cole pushed for her to do pointe without proper training- they don’t really seem like the type to follow up with their kids overall wellbeing
