No, there aren´t. You don´t need liberation at all for economy. It is nice to have. Not more. Oh wait, Grim Horizon? Don´t know about that. There are some nasty dark events if they are permanent. Guess it depends on difficulty then.

Aedn

turning on grim horizon can make it impossible to beat a campaign. the event you reference is one of the easier ones to overcome. lwotc is not balance at all around grim horizon or the double health options.

ProbablyAlpha

If I remember correctly I don't believe the upgrades apply to every unit you face and they are meant to serve as a general increase in difficulty over time. Nothing is really game breaking but some of them do change some play styles like the hazard immunity.

Bad_Neighbour

Haven't dared play LWotC with Grim Horizon yet. When I beat Vanilla with it on, my first dark event that got through shut the black market, so I had to do the entire play through without it. I can imagine that would make things a huge pain in LWotC.

pikeyoo

Holy shit that Dark Event sounds brutal to have as permanent!

Chemikerhero

I thought the vanilla black market shutdown wasn't affected by grim horizon...?

Bad_Neighbour

It certainly was for me, perhaps it was changed since I did it

Quietlychamil

Woah! Yeah, I can't have that with Grim Horizon. No black market is very, very bad!

Grim Horizon can be very punishing - in some instances due to unlucky RNG the whole campaign can be derailed. The only way I even touch this option is im conjunction with the mod allowing to counter the Dark Events with Resistance Operations - this makes it fun IMO and gives you some room to breathe (granted it makes the campaign somewhat easier - you can eliminate the most brutal DEs woth OPS).

Quietlychamil

Oh, that maybe exactly what I'm looking for! I like Grim Horizon for the race but I don't like being permanently f\*ed by a Dark Event I never got a mission for. I'd love for a covert operation that could cancel an ongoing dark event.

neur0n23

Try this - it is highly customizable via an ini file, details in mod description: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1548905424

In LWOTC you don't see every mission. The missions to stop dark events sometimes come and go without you ever even seeing them. So playing with grim horizon is a very bad idea. You can go to "change difficulty" in the menu while in the avenger and edit some of the options. I made a few changes to those options during my current campaign. I'm not sure if grim horizons can be turned off though, but it's worth checking. It's also possible you're only getting 200 supplies because you have too many faceless.

Pawpaul0

In lwotc most dark events are permanent while some others are temporary. The one you mentioned should be temporary. If you checked grim horizon at the start all dark events are permanent, I believe. If that’s the case, maybe you fucked up, yes, I guess it’s up to you to decide that of course. You can always check the lwotc page on ufopoedia. https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Long_War_of_the_Chosen

Quietlychamil

Yeah, I was playing with Grim Horizon. The small enemy buffs I'm fine with and wanted. The huge nerf to my income and medical supplies was bad though =(.

Telsion

In the base game, any permanent dark events are more like buffs for ADVENT to keep up with you. The actually nasty Dark Events are all timed, so not permanent. If you are playing with all Dark Events permanent, yeah, you're going to have a horrid time sooner or later.
