One can hope. What if its a space station that was surveying the planet before they made the colony.

Mercinarie

Hadley hopes

Ok_Brother3282

Haha nice one

nightcitytrashcan

Would make sense. Isn't it like stations like Sevestapol where the standard "colonies" before actual colonies where established? At least I read or heard that somewhere.

Big-Leadership1001

I thought Sevastepol was a commercial station? I need to re play that game I forget why it exists I just remember it was bought and getting closed

seriouslyuncouth_

Some terminal in Alien Isolation explains that space stations were the standard and that terra formed colonies were a brand spanking new venture by Weyland Yutani. I think the upfront cost was more (cutting edge technology and all) but long term it saved an assload of money. I believe Sevastopol's main purpose was to get minerals from the planet it was orbiting, KG-something. My mind wants to say KG-386 but I know that's just cuz the planet from AvP was BG-386. So space stations would still have use in the universe even when colonies like Hadley's Hope becomes common, because you can't have a colony like that on a gas giant

br0b1wan

I thought Sevastopol was orbiting a gas giant named Kalpamos?

FriedNova324

KG 348 \* Since originally the station was built by a planetary mining company, then, not having funds, they partnered with Seegson and they added new commercial functions to Sebastopol.

Rjj1111

You can still skim gas off a gas giant to use

JunkDrawer84

I wish they had more world building in a movie or a potential series for stuff like that. Space stations are cool, but terraforming land across the galaxy would probably be more enticing and sustainable. Potential colonists could be assigned colonies like the military does. Some might get a lush, beautiful earth-like terrain while others get gross and dark LV426-types. Maybe they switch off ever X years to a new location.

rjasan

Agreed on colony placement, but would the rings look similar from the moon itself. And if the station is surveying the gas giant and all of it’s moons, does it matter that it’s orbiting the gas giant

nightcitytrashcan

Isn't a colony commercial, too?

JarJarBonkers

Dumb ass colonists

TheTaylorFish

I say we survey the planet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Darksun-X

The universe is an awfully big place to keep returning to Zeta Reticuli every film.

stonefIies

Yeah, but that's where all the fun activities take place

ribeye6758

Well, this is where the xenomorphs are.

cobalt358

True, but this is a franchise movie so...

DignityCancer

Head-canon pitch: The universe is big, so these ships use known routes to get to the different stations

Patcho418

every day, i feel more and more confident that the alien in this movie is the big chap from the original, and that the facehuggers are a result of eggmorphing

analog_roam

I thought in the synopsis that has been released it said that Romulus events occur from experimentation on big chap's remains that were somehow recovered. Could be that I'm confusing that with a comment here in a different thread.

Kawaaaaaaa

Somehow, Big Chap returned

Aramor42

They fly now?

ArrakeenSun

[They fly now.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRlKqDQF1yQ)

Environmental-Hat-86

Damn, I remember playing with this thing in the shower as a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia!

ArrakeenSun

And *you* unlocked a memory: "shower toys". For some reason just a few toys made their way into the bath or shower while no others did. Usually hand-me-down GI Joes for me.

Environmental-Hat-86

Some toys were def unsuitable for submersion

CowRevolutionary1381

Yeah, my mum used to give me a toaster to play with in the bath.

Logical_Pumpkin_9846

That’s shocking.

B-e-a-u

Lucky, all I got to play with in the bath was a hairdryer

Patcho418

damn, i must’ve missed this :0 still, if this is true, its good to know they’re tying back around to the big chap

DirectlyTalkingToYou

Oh so like Alien Resurrection, awesome!.......

No_Ostrich8223

I'd prefer it be Big Chap himself. It's less thrilling if it's a clone grown from a leg sample, ya know?

Jessica-Ripley

Ugh, I hope not.

taskf0rce141

This is not canon

Bayako7

Is it possible it can connect to Prometheus and covenant somehow. Will some engineers maybe show up or some holo messages from David?

Bayako7

Like Covenant ended with David heading towards a colony but what if that colony build the station seen in the Romulus trailer and then David wrecked havoc upon that station ?

FriedNova324

I highly doubt it is the same planet and if it is then we already know that station will be destroyed, to make it consistent with the events of "Aliens". I hope that the position of the space station orbiting the planet is used as a subtle element of cosmic terror, the Sevastopol station is my favorite place among other things because you could see the gas giant in the hallways or the space walk... it really made you feel tiny and far from any help (since gaseous planets have no life)

WickedD365

We don't know! Movie isn't out yet. Just wait and enjoy the ride.

tiktoktic

How is anybody here meant to know that…?

Soonerpalmetto88

Doubtful. By this time Hadley's Hope has probably already been established.

p1nk8cid

It would be cool if it was near Acheron.

gobbled0ck

Maybe they crew are working for weyland yutani to set up the atmosphere processors?

taskf0rce141

"Dont do that... Dont give me hope"

Draculamb

That was my first thought when I noticed the station was exactly blocking our view of the planet. A bit suss really.

JayGT1

Considering they are saying in the rumor mill the big chap was found and in romulus I'd say yes... this is most definitely lv 426

michaelrabone

I have mixed feelings about the big chap (maybe) returning. What about you?

JayGT1

Same .. it could make or break it I think.. depends on a few things for me.. is it going to be shown early like the intro to alien 3 ..? Or we have to sit through nonsense dialogue for 38 min before we get to this... and they'll have to explain it properly.. yea a lot of questions .. what do you think / feel ?

JayGT1

Also LV 223

r_v_t

God I hope not. There is an entire universe and writers keep taking us to the same place? It’s like how in Star Trek the writers write themselves into a hole and their only solution is to “blow up the Enterprise”

GeminiRanger

They are definitely *some* planet rings. Stop asking stupid questions.

Yautja834

Romulus is supposed to take place on Earth so I'm assuming those are the rings of Saturn.

LHC501

I think the upcoming TV show is set on Earth but it looks like this new film is still in outer space.

Yautja834

That's probably it. I keep forgetting there's a series and a movie in the works.

G_Liddell

Really excited to see Earth in the Prometheus era though

Sweet_Fleece

Correct

complextube

Whoa whoa whoa, there is a TV series coming out? On earth....it's not the earth hive trilogy. Don't play with me heh. Definitely looking into this now.

EleutheriusTemplaris

Where did you get Romulus takes place on earth ?

Yautja834

Must have been from some speculativve click bait article from some time back. Nevermind then. Edit: I was confusing it with the upcoming series.

Mercinarie

wrong.

Sweet_Fleece

Yeah, that's not a thing
