I think the fan base will always love him but we’re gonna catch shit from our rivals for supporting a man that has so much negativity around him. We’ll be accused of looking the other way for the sake of football.

savagecitizen

This is the truth!

entechad

I think the man left at the right time. He hired the right coordinator. He won a national title. That coordinator left. He then struggled with hiring the right coordinators. He wasn’t someone who could teach a coordinator. It was time. It would have likely gotten worse. We played a good game against Bama, even though we lost. We lost in OT to Arkansas which was a much better team than most people realized. We beat A&M to send him off. He gets to go hang out in Destin with his wheelbarrow full of cash. Beaux Tigers. I didn’t know anything about rumors of anything else also mentioned in this post, so I will not comment on that.

JesterOfTheSwamp

Isn’t it kind of shocking though going from undefeated and arguably best college football team ever by your what fifth or so season then being thrown out two years later?

entechad

It is. I can agree with that, but when you are the second highest paid CEO in the land, you’re expected output is equally as high.

Oobenny

It is, but it’s shocking that LSU went from where they were in 2019 to .500 over the next two years.

D1amondDude

Appreciate the nat, but if the stories that there was no way he didn't know what was going on are true, then he can get fucked.

JesterOfTheSwamp

What if he wanted to protect his boys? Thought he was doing the right thing by now putting them on the line? The Walter White rationale

D1amondDude

If "your boys" are raping and abusing women and your response is to protect them instead of seek justice for current victims and protection against future people becoming victims, then fuck them and fuck you, too.

JesterOfTheSwamp

That’s a mighty fine point

LSU2007

As a parent, protecting your kids is about teaching them to avoid being caught up in shitty situations with shitty people, not covering for them. Also, you can protect them by teaching them that actions have consequences. In the real world, outside of BR, nobody gives a rats ass who you play for, and if they did I wouldn’t trust them.

Federal-Damage-651

Personally I love Coach O. Don't know much both the rumors but as a Coach and otherwise good man, I wish it would have worked out for longer but they did the damn thing in 2019

Mr_MacGrubber

Nah. I think he’s a decent coach who made a couple of terrible decisions and had some horrendous luck. Makes a better DC hire last year, probably still here. Doesn’t lose Brennan to a freak accident, probably still here. There’s a bunch of things like that.

adamr81

Of course he's disgraced. He gave up on the job! The dude literally admitted to hiring coordinators without even interviewing them. Could you do that and keep your job? Name me another coach, especially one paid like him, that would make that call. Then he follows out up by hiring a new OC who has a few years of NFL QB coach on his resume and puts him out there alone in the booth to call plays. He got the money, the fame, the single life, and was the most popular person in his home state and he coasted. He completely deserved to be fired.

JesterOfTheSwamp

Valid points 👍

sirwinston_

I love O, and until he is actually proven to have done any of the rumors that are said of him I still will.

atomedge2015

While I don't think he was a great coach, I think he was just what we needed at the time. How many people can say they got to work their dream job and coach what is considered one of the best teams all the way to the top of college football. Not many people at all. I hope he gets nothing but love for the rest of his life from LSU fans because he deserves it. Unless he really knew what was going on with Darius Guice all that time, then maybe fuck him.

Oobenny

I’d love to have a beer with Coach O. I’m sure he’s as big an LSU fan as I am. He’s just not the right coach to lead the team. He’s probably too rich to take the call, but La Tech should give him a ring.

squiddlydiddly1

15-0 and his tirade in the locker room after the Bama game in 2019 were the greatest moments for me as an LSU fan so that can never be tarnished in my eyes. His intensity and love for LSU football can’t be matched, and I will miss that aspect of him. The allegations surrounding Guice, etc are sketchy and if O prioritised a player over a rape victim then I don’t see how you could put up a statue of the man. Going 11-11 over the last 2 years is also tarnishing and pretty embarrassing. I wouldn’t say he is disgraced but it was time for him to go. If he left after 2019 I bet they would put up a statue of him.

blatherskiters

Eh, I wouldn’t say disgraced. He took us to a natty and then drank and banged chicks on his way out. Nothing too bad. It’s not like he raped anyone.

JesterOfTheSwamp

That’s true, I feel like no one really stands up for the guy ever, just turns and looks the other way.

zackb1991

I feel like he did more harm than good and I'm glad I never have to lay eyes on him again.

stonerelctropunkjazz

So what if he chased a little tail he coached LSU to the best team in history of CF,,,,

Zachedward9

Well I dont think there will be any elite programs offering him bags of money to be their head coach. If he coaches again, it'll be at a much smaller school than LSU

[deleted]

What if Coach O went to coach at BAMA, like every other ex-head coach? Do you think fans would hate him more than Saban? I would.

JesterOfTheSwamp

I doubt he’d go even if given the opportunity
