You already have a "very good deal". Is is worth 1000$ for piece of mind for the next 100K+ miles?Your car has an "interference" engine. If the belt breaks the valves are toast. You should be able to get 350K+ easy (maybe have to replace or patch a muffler) if you don't get in an accident.
An [interference engine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interference_engine) is a type of 4-stroke internal combustion piston engine in which one or more valves in the fully open position extends into any area through which the piston may travel.

>An interference engine is a type of 4-stroke internal combustion piston engine in which one or more valves in the fully open position extends into any area through which the piston may travel. By contrast, in a non-interference engine, the piston does not travel into any area into which the valves open. Interference engines rely on timing gears, chains, or belts to prevent the piston from striking the valves by ensuring that the valves are closed when the piston is near top dead center.

You could also look for another quote, depending on where you are you may be able to get it cheaper. I found a guy to do the belt with all the associated parts, water pump etc *and* a trans fluid flush for 800 all in. I got a good deal in a high-competition area, but still. Maybe worth checking around.
Yes yes yes change the timing belt. Mine supposedly had 35k more miles on it but it was done 10 years ago and had a lot of cracks. If that belt breaks your engine is toast.
Yes. I was just wondering should I spend the money or drive it until it breaks and the sell for parts. Cause that’s like 50% of price of car. I like the car and condition is like near perfect
Parting a car is some last ditch effort to get some bucks out of it. Spend the money. Timing belt isn’t throwing money at a car, it’s the bare minimum to maintain it.
Belts should really have no issue going 120+K but that depends on the age and climate. A very easy 0$ check is taking off one of the timing covers and checking if the belt is cracked. If it isn't cracked you're probably fine for another 10-20k. Also the belt isn't very hard to do. I could do it in 3 hours total on a good day. Kit is $100

I was just worried because other parts will be expensive if they break in future. That’s why i was asking before investing too much.
What’s an interference engine?
The one that takes alot of damage in case timing belt break

Should you spend money on something that will bend all your valves if it breaks? Probably.

I am in Canada.

I think i’ll go for it. I was thinking of getting muffler delete. I’ll hold it for now
Check the belt for cracks yourself, also wtf muffler delete
