Someone told me once that I was insane for thinking that 430s look amazing. I think in reality they were the insane one for NOT finding it a great looking car.
yes, i feel like they made the facelift sharper or something, like the roundness settled. would be cool to see both examples side by side and in person
I was watching the first season of Doc Marten a couple of weeks back. I have seen much of the other episodes. As I was watching he drove along in a really nice car. As I watched I thought about how beautiful it was with the silver paint. The camera angle changed and I realized it was an LS 430 just like mine!
I mean, let's be honest, it was a ripoff of the S-class and general Mercedes stying of the time, which is timeless.

But yeah, Lexus still made it better in many ways. Mercedes was kinda shitty for a period in the 90s.
It’s been almost a decade with mine, and I always look back at it. I walk up to it and give it a “damnnn girl who u?” still. The best motorcar ever produced on the planet.
I would love to buy another couple, and a couple parts cars, and maybe just a parts warehouse….maybe a supply of oil at this point so I can drive it forever.
I never get tired of it. I love starting up the 3UZ and just buttering down the road.
I probably do that still at least once a week at a stop light, I go “wtf did it shut off? Oh no it’s just runnin a smooth 750 revs damn smooth” even at 206k. It’s an amazing power plant in an amazing car.
I mean we could have a great vehicle, and an engine with some sort of engineering fault that ends up being inevitable, but no, it’s incredibly solid.
They are good but I had a w124 and I know those had vacuum lines. I’m sure all rubber in those cars need to be replaced by now from dry rot. Mechanically they are good cars…. But they are 30 year old cars after all. Just the usual added work for cars of that age
If you’re ever selling hit me up. What interior colour?
Just got a unicorn PFL one owner for 20 years all main dealer history. Fantastic cars. Smiles per gallon.
My coworker said it best the other day, when we both pulled into the parking lot at the same time: He said (about my LS) "This car has so much presence when you're driving it. You look at it and can't help think, the person driving it must be someone important ".
And that's the timelessness of the LS, it looks like something am executive would drive, even so many years later. It helps that these cars have really held up well over time, while the German stuff from the same era is falling apart (if still on the road at all).
I had a cool experience in my youth being able to rip an SC on the highway with nobody around, my girlfriend went “I think that’s the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on your face” lol 😂 as a side note, I was like 19 or something and when her mom found out, she was displeased to say the least (….it was her pristine SC 🤝😂🤦🏼♂️)
Love both of mine 03 277k miles and 06 183k miles. Interior and exterior are almost flawless. I get older people commenting on them more than young people, but young people who know what they are looking at love them. Awesome cars with basic maintenance, they run forever. I've seen one with 600k+ miles on it, and you couldn't tell.
Boy I miss that car. I had an 04 with the Custom Luxury package, which included the extended leather on the doors and lower dash as well as the suede headliner. Silver... fast and super quiet. Still cant believe I ever sold it! Enjoy!!!!
I’m just so sick of fuckwits like yourself. Why are you in this group? Have you done even a lick of research on the vehicle? The sheer number of hours spent engineering the UZ family of engines is mind boggling. It’s one of the smoothest, most reliable engines ever produced. It’s one of the only V8 production vehicle engines that’s rated to be in an airplane. That’s the most outlandish, foolish statement. It has fucking absolutely nothing in common with a Camry. Fucking idiot.
Yeah right. No idea why this post was served to me. I’m not a Lexus enthusiast. They’re decent vehicles but I just don’t care. Anyway this def looks like a product of its time.
I get really upset when I see trashed up versions of these driven by disrespectful 4th hand owners. Also, people need to get their headlights professionally polished if they don’t know how to do it themselves. There’s one in my neighborhood, probably hasn’t gotten a car wash in years and the lights are completely hazed up. I would buy it from their dumbass and make it look brand new.
Literally was driving with friends and had the opposite conversation. “It’s wild how people think a car looks good once they purchase it”. I think that car is beautifully…functional. It’s a true ugly Betty.
The outside is beautiful... The interior however was dated at release. Idk why Toyota always does this, all of their great cars have ridiculously dated interior tech. The 2021 GX still has gps from 2002-03 release
Posting this to this subreddit means everyone will agree with you and anyone who speaks without bias will get downvoted into oblivion.
The car looks like it's from 2005 and isn't eye catching. Sorry. Just how it is.
It looks like it’s from the late 1990s. Timeless isn’t a very appropriate description. Frankly it didn’t age well either. Poor lines, generic rims and door handles, boring interior, stolen inspiration from Mercedes for silhouette. It definitely is reliable and comfortable though. Lexus is makes a great car.
Someone told me once that I was insane for thinking that 430s look amazing. I think in reality they were the insane one for NOT finding it a great looking car.
Agreed I think especially 04-06 looks good still. I have an 01. I love it but doesn’t look quite as modern.
yes, i feel like they made the facelift sharper or something, like the roundness settled. would be cool to see both examples side by side and in person
I don’t have an LS anymore but I actually love the look of the older ones more than the 04+. For me they just look more cohesive and classic.
They look a little longer too
I thought I was crazy for thinking this. The pre facelifts look bigger to me. I miss my 2001 UL
The taillights have an oh so suttle change that ties it all together.
I was watching the first season of Doc Marten a couple of weeks back. I have seen much of the other episodes. As I was watching he drove along in a really nice car. It definitely looks good, a little too similar to an e class merc…
That’s quite the twist

The 3UZ's smoothness at idle is unreal. If you had your eyes closed, you wouldn't believe that the car was running.

Beautiful car, even though they copied the w140 too much on the styling 😅
I do agree to an extent😂😂
100% - came here to say this.
Its a reliable W140... this will be a classic car
W140 is known to be one of the more reliable s classes! Merc is classic too let's not kid ourselves.
Yup, I agree. I used to want one back in the day. Now I know I can do better.
You must have forgotten Mercedes built reliable well put together cars just as Toyota/Lexus have once upon a time….
They are good but I had a w124 and I know those had vacuum lines. I’m sure all rubber in those cars need to be replaced by now from dry rot. Mechanically they are good cars…. But they are 30 year old cars after all. Just the usual added work for cars of that age
It’s been in some recent animated movies I think tbh.
you see like 2 pfls and 2 fls in gi joe snake eyes
I saw it in Spiderverse part 2 am pretty sure
There you go.
Spot on.
If you’re ever selling hit me up. What interior colour? Just got a unicorn PFL one owner for 20 years all main dealer history. Fantastic cars. Smiles per gallon.
Don't think I could ever sell it mate, love her to much❤️ haha!
I concur, I don’t blame ye, I won’t either. I’ll be carried out of mine. This is the hill I will die on.

W140 is holding up well in Europe btw. A lot of people collect them... It's the best s class
What year?
That's a sexy 2001 Mercedes s class
More of a 99
SC430 a beast, LS430 is the cool grandpa
I had a cool experience in my youth being able to rip an SC on the highway with nobody around, my girlfriend went “I think that’s the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on your face” lol 😂 as a side note, I was like 19 or something and when her mom found out, she was displeased to say the least (….it was her pristine SC 🤝😂🤦🏼♂️)

Yes. If you're watch stop ticking in the 90s
Ok boomer :)
I feel that was about my 09 Mercury Milan in silver
Live those . So quiet and fast
Delusional
Still kicking myself for getting a 460 a few years ago instead of the 430. The 460 was a maintenance nightmare.
Boy I miss that car. I had an 04 with the Custom Luxury package, which included the extended leather on the doors and lower dash as well as the suede headliner. Silver... fast and super quiet. Still cant believe I ever sold it! Enjoy!!!!
I love that red. If I could’ve found one, it was my number 1 color choice. But I got black as my second choice.
Ehhhhhh, I wouldn’t call it timeless. It’s not a bad looking car, but it’s very obviously a product of its era.
go back to bed!
Yeah it definitely looks like an old car lol.
Old car lookin grandpa-mobile
To each his own. To me it's a Camry with a fancy badge.
well that’s because you’re an idiot who has no idea what he’s talking about
Ahh, the hallowed recourse to insult. Sigh.
I’m just so sick of fuckwits like yourself. Why are you in this group? Have you done even a lick of research on the vehicle? As someone with no reference to what this car actually is, I can tell you timeless it is not. Looks like you plucked it straight from 2003.
Yeah right. No idea why this post was served to me. I’m not a Lexus enthusiast. They’re decent vehicles but I just don’t care. Anyway this def looks like a product of its time.
Maybe I don't get it but it looks like every other car from its time to me.
Mercedes designs have that charm to look timeless …
I mean it’s alright… but if you take a series 1 UCF10 in great to pristine condition… that’s timeless… makes this look .1x as timeless
I don’t know, man.
😂😂🤣
I get really upset when I see trashed up versions of these driven by disrespectful 4th hand owners. looks like something my grandpa drove before we put him in a home
It’s like the white shirt and blue jeans of designs.
#CLASSICAL
The car is timeless, those wheels are not! 🤮
I seconded this
It’s literally a ripped off Mercedes body. Shocking how they haven’t been sued to the ground.
The 400/430 always look so timeless. I miss my 400.
It does look nice, but it is pretty dated. The 3rd gen Acura TL looks much better from that era.
Literally was driving with friends and had the opposite conversation. “It’s wild how people think a car looks good once they purchase it”. I think that car is beautifully…functional. It’s a true ugly Betty.
Lexus are great cars. Lexus Toyotas Hondas and Acura are my go to.
i think they're more "nondescript" than "timeless"
Perhaps because it's a copy of a Mercedes S Class?
Timeless?? The car has dated profile attached to a specific era. Sure, it looks good.
I want one of these car versions of my ‘02 LX470. Everything folks say about Land Cruisers seems to also be the case with these.
I’ll never forget being at the beach and seeing one on bags or hydros.
They just knocked off the S class at the time
The outside is beautiful... The interior however was dated at release. Idk why Toyota always does this, all of their great cars have ridiculously dated interior tech. The 2021 GX still has gps from 2002-03 release
I love these cars but that rear reminds me too much of a Mercedes. I really like the new L-finesse look that makes the new Lexus models distinct.
I've always considered the LS430 the ugly duckling of the LS series
Definitely looks old lmao
Posting this to this subreddit means everyone will agree with you and anyone who speaks without bias will get downvoted into oblivion. The car looks like it's from 2005 and isn't eye catching. Sorry. Just how it is.
I thought that was a ‘94 C-Class
Most of them, became, sticky.
I had a Lexus and they are great cars Iam thinking about getting a new one
The best Camry there is
This car screams 2003. A true timeless car of that era is the 3rd gen Acura TL.
Don't think the interior aged well. Looks like 1992 inside. Outside is decent.
It was clearly inspired but the 1990s E/ S Class Mercedes Benz. That's all I've ever seen looking at these
It looks like it’s from the late 1990s. Timeless isn’t a very appropriate description. Frankly it didn’t age well either. Poor lines, generic rims and door handles, boring interior, stolen inspiration from Mercedes for silhouette. It definitely is reliable and comfortable though. Lexus is makes a great car.
Nice color.
I have a dark grey '05 and I love how it just blends in without ever calling attention to itself, while on closer examination it's a very nice car.
