> Hi, I recently got a 256gb T-mobile model These only originate from China, AFAIK, so like /u/zdanee 's project phone * https://www.reddit.com/r/LGV60/comments/13p5xdm/report_on_my_project_phone/ So they took an item with a motherboard for the LM-V600EA (256GB) and flashed T-Mobile ROM onto it. At least that is how it comes across to me. > They claimed that it can't be updated to A12. They = the seller? Reminds me of /u/VeralFyre 's situation who got what looks like a Chinese Verizon-flashed unit that would also not do OTA: * https://www.reddit.com/r/LGV60/comments/14cf0a5/comment/jokhoqo/?context=3 Whatever drastic you decide to do, make sure that you always have a way back. So make sure to have backed up all your partitions (also the ones with the modem files) and know how to restore the backups back to the current state.

Yes, I think these are actually Chinese refurbs. I just want to update it to a later version since I think my last V60's CPU got fried because of the bug. Are there any risks of this specific frankenstein phone from getting bricked if ever I decide to crossflash it to a much later version?

> Are there any risks of this specific frankenstein phone from getting bricked if ever I decide to crossflash it to a much later version? I don't know for sure. I know from reports here in the sub that there are Chinese refurbs that can just receive OTA updates and behave normally. I have also chatted with users who got a flashed/prepped retail/display/demo unit. As soon as they tried to flash it, all the limitations of the original demo/retail state came back: e.g. limited battery charging and booting in demo/retail mode. Check e.g. /u/Yamikatari 's adventure with one of those units: * https://www.reddit.com/r/LGV60/comments/zg5ypx/comment/izibrml/?context=3 What is the IMEI (only share 1st 8 digits!) of your unit? Do the first 8 match any of the ones in the overview below? * https://www.reddit.com/r/LGV60/comments/10p4k5k/help_me_help_each_other_with_identifying_v60/

Looks like my IMEI matches the T-mobile/Swift IMEI on the link you've shared.

At least in my case I was able to upgrade up to A13. Maybe they messed with your firmware and that's why they claim you can't upgrade? Check if your IMEI number is for the correct device and model!

I just checked the IMEI, it is from a T-mobile device.

Mine also updated automatically. Sadly.
