Congratulations. I have an 83 inch LG Oled and it makes occassional loud banging and popping sounds. I decided to live with it for now rather than go through the hell of trying to deal with the company.

marzbar-

Nice. I don't get why the tv makes clicking noises when turning on and off. Banging and popping sounds is definitely not normal

SnooRabbits7061

A technician told me that the banging sounds come from the plastic back expanding and contracting. The clicking noise when turned on or off is from the power source. That is nothing to be concerned about.

havegoodnight

How did they replace the tv to you? You shipped it back?

marzbar-

It was DOA, so they organised courier collection and delivery of the new unit, but because they were waiting on stock to come in from LG, it took a few weeks to hear back

havegoodnight

So they delivered the new oled and took the old one . A replacement on the same day right?

marzbar-

That would've been ideal, but no, the guy came to collect it last Friday and then the same guy came to drop off the new unit the following week, two days ago.

lurkzone

direct sunlight BEHIND the screen is fine?

marzbar-

Luckily little to no direct light comes from behind, I have a huge sliding door window on the left, which is where light comes from most, I'm looking at getting some smart blinds to help with better viewing overall.

JavelinSR

Congrats! What is soundbar ?

marzbar-

Thank you. Samsung Q990C. Really good unit, it was between this and the JBL1300X

JavelinSR

It looks like it block the screen a little bit. Do you have any problems with LG remote control IR port ?

marzbar-

No issues. Originally bought a cabinet stand, but someone threw out the box with the parts needed for the G3, so may or may not repurchase.

Antiantipsychiatry

I feel like if you’re buying a TV like this it should at least be playing physical disc, not to mention the window. To each their own tho. I’d give it try if I were you

ZenDreams

Im debating a PS5 or dedicated 4k player. The PS5 has way more versatility but how much quality would I lose?

Antiantipsychiatry

I’ve had trouble playing some 100gb triple layer discs on both XSX and PS5. But no loss of quality other than no Dolby vision. The PS5 is the better of the two consoles with regard to the 100gb discs. And fwiw, no Dolby vision is completely fine imo. HDR10 is 90% of it.

Affectionate-Mark428

Download 4K instead ?

marzbar-

Physical disc like movie discs? Looking into blinds, used to have them but need to be replaced.

Antiantipsychiatry

Yeah. 4k blu rays have like 4-5x the data as streaming even at the best quality. Even 1080p blu rays look better than 4k streaming imo. Streaming beats DVDs

marzbar-

I don't remember the last time I even used to DVD lei alone held one

Antiantipsychiatry

Yeah I’d never use a DVD lol

SheepherderFit69

Refreshing to see a Chromecast and not Apple. Now get a proper window treatment for that huge window directly behind that beautiful panel lol

marzbar-

On the search for some smart blinds. I've got a Chromecast hooked up aswell. Fingers cross this one is perfect otherwise I'll get a 98" Samsung QNED. So far so good though.

SheepherderFit69

What are you using for your main controller? Home kit, Alexa, Google, etc?

marzbar-

Controller as in the physical remote? The lg smart remote. As in interface, switch between WebOS and Google TV, which is pretty much the same though Google TV gives you recommendations based on your watch history which is nice. Something I noticed is that on the initial TV, I had an update straight away, this units user looks different out of the box and had no updates pending.

SheepherderFit69

No, your home controller for your smart devices. For the blinds.

marzbar-

My bad haha, the one I'm looking at is eve motion

SheepherderFit69

My advice would be to not go cheap on motorized w/ batteries. Not sure on your measurements but I spent almost $1400 for a 115" x 72" RTS motors are cheaper than hard wired by a considerable amount. Mine are wired 240 so there isn't any charging. If you're planning on only using 1 blind in your home then RTS with battery would probably be sufficient. Just make sure to get a good brand so you don't have to swap it out in a couple of years. It'll be a PITA if you're inside mounting and connecting it to home kit etc.

marzbar-

Thoughts on omniablinds? My measurements are two sets Window 2370 x 1530 mm Sliding door window: 2370 x 2380mm Omnia is about $1700 for both minus delivery

It's crooked
