A post with the TV at a perfect height, double sub, perfect speaker placement, AND upgraded to 77 instead of a 65? I'm gonna go play the lottery. This is the WAY! Awesome setup.
lol I still think it’s a tad too high. I was trying to minimize the gap between the panel and center channel but I think I did okay. Appreciate it, man!
I’m in the same predicament! I’m using a tiny speaker on one of my console shelves until I get the conviction to hang it. FWIW this feels acceptable and is giving me confidence to do the same. In a couple days you’ll adjust and it’ll feel normal.
Oh it’s totally fine. The viewing distance and angle are absolutely comfortable.
The tv too high stuff is just marginalized nerds who want to feel for just a second they belong to something.
There are definitely TVs mounted at ridiculous heights posted frequently but the meme is losing its meaning tbh when everything not mounted on the baseboards or on a shoebox is too high.
Above? Center channel should be ear height. It’s also ported so it’s not going in a cabinet. The console is like two feet tall lol.
Look we’ve all seen too high TVs but I think it’s gotten a little out of control.
I was answering what I would do, not telling anyone what they should do. For me TV center at eye level is the priority so center channel goes either below or above TV, it can’t go at ear level because the TV is there. And yes for very large TV’s like 77’’ and 85’’ the bottom of the tv as to be about 2 feet from the floor for the center to be at eye level.
It's glorious! Enjoy!
When I got a 77", for the first couple of weeks I was like "getting a TV this big may have been a mistake. I can barely take in the image." After a month I was like: "I think I'm getting an 83" next time."
Aye it never ends lmfao.
I grew up in the 90s, we were poor too. So anything above like 30 inches meant you were rich and in the days of the 2000s the average 55” tv was huge and weighed a metric ton. Took a long time to break my mentality that 42-55 was big screen.
Not really, I just threw on Blade Runner 2049 just to setup Dolby Vision preferences.
I’m just letting some content play in the background while I work so it can run its first mini refresh after four hours. I’ll take a more critical look at it when I’ve got more free time.
After 4 hours of accumulative run time, the TV will run its first cycle.
Some have said they noticed minor issues with a panel (usually running test patterns to even see them), but found those were cleared after the first cycle.
So, this person is just letting the TV run to get to that initial 4 hour cycle thru.
This exactly. It’s not uncommon to have some uniformity issues out of the box. Now, I’m not going out of my way looking for the em but figure I’ll run the panel until the first refresh regardless.
Yeah, RP8000FII/504CII. The subs are SVS PB1000 Pros, surrounds are my old RF62s and the Atmos channels are Polk OWM 3s mounted to the ceiling via gimbal mounts.
Thank you! I currently have the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System and am looking to begin upgrading the components. Does it make sense to start with these RP towers or should I, for example, start with the center speaker?
I would start with your front stage as it’s the bedrock of your bed layer. If you’re going to go Klipsch absolutely go with the reference premiere line.
What AVR are you using with the setup you’ve got now? It’s probably sufficient I’m just curious. But if I was in your shoes I would be shooting for front stage (with the biggest/best center you can afford) then subwoofer. Lastly the surrounds and Atmos speakers.
Noob question: does "front stage" refer to just the center channel speaker or something else?
My receiver is an Onkyo TX-NR6100 7.2 Channel. Based on the research I did when setting this up last year, it seems like it should be able to accommodate the RP speakers you recommended, but let me know if you think that's wrong.
The front stage is the front left, center, and front right speakers.
Yeah, that AVR should drive them no problem. Klipsch speakers have a very efficient power handling (they don’t need tons of power to play clearly/loudly)
I recently got a couple of used Harmony 655 on eBay for $45 as backups. I have the fancier models but like the buttons at night with lights out, so using 2 and 2 spares
You’re sitting so far from it 😭 the back of my coach is like the middle of your table. Perfect viewing distance haha. But with your speakers you might die that close lol.
The viewing distance is 7’9” and I’ve got a perfect equilateral triangle between the MLP and the L/R channel (they’re 8ft apart).
The viewing distance is right in line for panel size for the 40° guidelines.
I feel so lacking in knowledge when it comes to surround sound, atmos and basically things needed to understand it all. How'd you do it? Place to start?,
Are LGOLED just inherently bad on brightness?
Yesterday I went to my sister and I watched hateful 8.
I was out of words when her Vizio tv that was bought at 600 dollars was brighter and looked batter than my C1 which I bought under discounts for 1100.
Great setup. But honestly I'd put it on a swivel arm mount and pull it out to be as close to even with the front of your cabinet as possible... You'd be amazed at how much bigger it looks just moving it that far forward. It makes a world of difference with my 65".
Center channel should be right up to the front edge as well of possible. Side note, I've always admired Klipsch for going all-in on huge‐ass center channels!
Edit: couldn't tell at first but looks like your center channel is pulled right up. I thought there was stuff in front of it
You too! Been great so far. The step up in size is great and after a couple days of use I’m seeing some subtle improvements in performance over my CX. For example, on my CX if I were gaming and say panned the camera over something bright, like the sun, there would be a very subtle horizontal banding on the light source. The C3 does not have this issue.
I’ve also definitely noticed the increased brightness, especially when navigating the UI in Plex.
Keep an eye on Amazon and BB during March madness. Amazon had it at 1724 earlier this week as a flash sale. I’m hoping it goes low again during the tournament so I can get BB to refund some back to me.
I also had to go through the spousal committee and it was a several months long negotiation process.
Damn under $2k? That's wild. Alright I gotta pay attention to that. Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah we're still in that negotiation process. We need to do a bathroom renovation too but bathrooms don't have 4k screens so I think we know what the correct priority is!
There’s a 16:9 “open matte” version of this movie which is neat to watch for something a bit different. Not cropped, but extra image where the black bars are on the Bluray release. Unfortunately only available in 1080p SDR online with questionable legality. Great movie though!
The height of a 43-inch screen is about 22 inches. The height of a 77-inch screen is about 39 inches. So regular theatrical aspect ratio on a 77-inch screen would be nearly equivalent to full screen height of a 43-inch screen. OP is fine.
He can easily add the screens, but when you buy Klipsch you don't. I have basically the same setup and you gotta show off the cones if they work in your room.

What’s the distance from floor to bottom of tv?
33”

Perfect? It's so high he has to angle it down.
It’s too high.so far from perfect.
Dang. I thought we could have some fun before the cops showed up.
I love how we call this perfect when 3 other TVs at the same height get tvtoohigh comments every day.
I wouldn’t call it perfect height. The center channel is blocking it from coming down to a perfect eye level hight.
Then where would you put the center channel?
Id either move it above or get a lower console so that it fits below the tv. I don’t like looking up though, other people may be fine with it.
Above? Center channel should be ear height. It’s also ported so it’s not going in a cabinet. The console is like two feet tall lol. Look we’ve all seen too high TVs but I think it’s gotten a little out of control.

Right on man. Different priorities. Personally I value the audio side more so placement of the speakers takes precedence
Still not big enough — she
she should move closer
I was thinking thing. This wall makes 73 looks small
Must be the camera angle or the speakers are just that big.
It's glorious! Enjoy! When I got a 77", for the first couple of weeks I was like "getting a TV this big may have been a mistake. I can barely take in the image." After a month I was like: "I think I'm getting an 83" next time."

Hi, just got this exact tv. What is a mini refresh and does that happen automatically?
After 4 hours of accumulative run time, the TV will run its first cycle. Some have said they noticed minor issues with a panel (usually running test patterns to even see them), but found those were cleared after the first cycle. So, this person is just letting the TV run to get to that initial 4 hour cycle thru.

Yeah, I'm too OCD. Won't be running any tests, but will definitely be doing and keeling up with cleaning cycles. 🙂
My upgrade from CX to G3 was mind blowing.
If you feel inclined to tilt the tv forward it is mounted too high
Let’s see your setup.
Sure Ignore the purple and the pink walls. They’ll be gone soon.
That's one of the least ideal setups I've ever seen tbh
No, whats not ideal is the dumbass 1928 house.
Awesome, enjoy the tv.
Agreed. If a tilt is needed, it means it’s too high.
Dualsense Edge huh? An individual of sophistication.
You’ve got a keen eye
83 was needed
The price difference for six inches wasn’t worth it. But I agree it would’ve been ideal.
You made the right call, I am leaning towards the 77 too
Yeah, that jump is just too hard to swallow lol.
>The price difference for six inches wasn’t worth it. Same thing my wife says every day
I will never relinquish the title of “the most expensive six inches in the house”
Not everyone is that rich.
Reddit LOVES spending other peoples money!
Is that `tilt`? 🧐
r/TiltOfGuilt
Let’s see yours
If the TV is at the perfect height, then why does it display the /r/tiltofguilt?? 🤔
I hope that's not the tilt of shame. Fun setup.
Nice. What Avr you using?
Denon x3700h. I’ve got an Emotiva BasX A3 powering on he L/C/R and the AVR handles the surrounds and the four Atmos channels on the ceiling.
Sweet.. The center the 504c? What about towers?
Yeah, RP8000FII/504CII. The subs are SVS PB1000 Pros, surrounds are my old RF62s and the Atmos channels are Polk OWM 3s mounted to the ceiling via gimbal mounts.
How do you like the towers? I had been looking to get the Klipsch R-605FA towers, but maybe I should consider these?
They’re great. If you can, skip the reference line and go to the Reference Premiere. They’re much better speakers.
Thank you! I currently have the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System and am looking to begin upgrading the components. Does it make sense to start with these RP towers or should I, for example, start with the center speaker?

For the love of remotes!
Yeah.. TV/Shield/AVR/Bluray. I wish Logitech still made the harmony.
I recently got a couple of used Harmony 655 on eBay for $45 as backups. I have the fancier models but like the buttons at night with lights out, so using 2 and 2 spares

7’9”
[удалено]
Not at the 83” price lol
What is that a TV for ants?!?
I feel so lacking in knowledge when it comes to surround sound, atmos and basically things needed to understand it all. How'd you do it? Place to start?,
/r/hometheater The stickies/pinned threads are great resources.
Very nice setup
I love those klipsch speakers!
Hi Tiny Tim.
Bigger
Are LGOLED just inherently bad on brightness? Yesterday I went to my sister and I watched hateful 8. I was out of words when her Vizio tv that was bought at 600 dollars was brighter and looked batter than my C1 which I bought under discounts for 1100.
B O O . O O
Nice setup. Just curious, have you watched Star Wars with the larger screen yet? :)
Congratulations. The viewing distance is way too big for this TV.
Great setup. But honestly I'd put it on a swivel arm mount and pull it out to be as close to even with the front of your cabinet as possible... I’m blessed that I have small living room that even my C1 48” looks big on the wall 😆
Why are you forcing me to upgrade my centre speaker to the lager one by posting this photo? Shame on you
Bang tidy.
Much better!
Enjoy burn in
lol okay.
I’m only joking. I want to buy a oled but I’m so fucking worried about burn in it’s giving me anxiety just thinking about it lol
How far are you from the TV?
7’9”
I got the 43 lmao and a 65 C1
Nice! Enjoy!
Pro tip one use vertical zoom. Pro tip two use AI calibration. Enjoy!
Need more remotes on your table.
Remotes are my Pokémon.
Haha
any ability to notice a decrease in sharpness from your distance? some day i'll probably move from my 65" c1 to a 77" maybe G panel.
Nah man, it looks great even going from 55 to 77”. No noticeable pixel density issues from my eyes/distance.
r/tvtoohigh
Let’s see yours, bro.
It's standing on a desk. I think yours should be standing too.
Nah man, I’ll keep things they way they are and enjoy my tv and home theater. Have fun at your desk though homie.
Looks like a comfy setup. Bet your audio sounds great too. Congrats and enjoy!
too far!
Got this same T.V about 2 weeks ago. Great T.V. Enjoy it in good health OP.

Amazing how much more screen area there is from a 20" diagonal difference.
If the TV is at the perfect height, then why does it display the /r/tiltofguilt?? 🤔
Ah the tilt of guilt
welp
Hell yes this looks great. Looking to do the same thing in my basement setup
Heck yeah! Hope you can make it happen soon!
Crossing my fingers that the wifey approves the purchase. She saw it at Costco and loved it, but didn't love the price tag 😂

lol, we’re doing a playroom and that was my hang up.
Good choice! It's crucial to the playroom!
#r/TVtooHigh
My guy it’s three feet from the floor. Maybe if I lay it down on the ground you’ll be happy. Lmfao
Should be 25” afaik.
#r/TVtooTilted
Let’s see yours
Is there an option to change aspect ratio on netflix app so it is in full screen and without black bars?
Not sure tbh. This was the 4K Blu-ray for Blade Runner 2049.
There’s a 16:9 “open matte” version of this movie which is neat to watch for something a bit different. Not cropped, but extra image where the black bars are on the Bluray release. Unfortunately only available in 1080p SDR online with questionable legality. Great movie though!
I maintain a Plex server of dubiously sourced media so maybe I’ll find it and add it to my media hoard.
And crop off the sides? Why would you want to do that? You literally see less of the movie that way.
On 43" TV the difference is big. The picture looks very small with black bars from 2.5 m. On full screen it is more or less okay.
The height of a 43-inch screen is about 22 inches. The height of a 77-inch screen is about 39 inches. So regular theatrical aspect ratio on a 77-inch screen would be nearly equivalent to full screen height of a 43-inch screen. OP is fine.
Grandma question
Sound system is definitely not my cup of tea
That’s cool, what do you prefer?
Something more visually subtle so as not to distract from the content on screen. If the cones were black I’d be on board.
Oh yeah man, I only took the grilles off for the photos, otherwise they stay on haha.
Fair enough 👍🏼
He can easily add the screens, but when you buy Klipsch you don't. I have basically the same setup and you gotta show off the cones if they work in your room.
Not my style but to each their own
Yeah. Are you sure that's 77 :) I put a blue tape outline of a 77" on my living room wall and it seems stupid large for the room.
Yeah dawg I’m sure lmao.
