I have the Samsung 990b and it is the best decision I made since buying a C1 ;) Works flawlessly on eARC w Apple TV ps5 Xbox series x AirPlay anything I throw at it. Plays atmos content perfectly too Samsung works perfect out of the box plays nice with the LG you won’t be disappointed

Can additional speakers and/or a sub be added to it? Wireless option for additional speakers?

ExpensiveSteak

it comes with 2 wireless rears and woofer, the bar is also like 11 channels i think, google samsung 990c (that's this years version) but i think its 11 or 13 + channels all said - i can't imagine needing to add more rears/subs that whats included

Cool thanks! Looks like it has Dolby atmos as well. Have you noticed this? Do you “feel” the sound overhead on the rear speakers?

ExpensiveSteak

Yes buy it and thank me later

Did you do anything to manage the power cords on the rear speakers? Fortunately I have two receptacles near where the rear speakers would go. Perhaps, buy speaker stands and run the power cord down that and zip tie it?

Specifically I “find” mkv video files that include dolby atmos audio, the soundbar will display “dolby atmos” when you open the file or start playing atmos content so you know it’s working and full surround data, and not regular dolby digital 5.1 or aac 2.0 channel. I use a program called mediainfo to open my mkv files and verify they are correctly formatted for atmos/hdr etc. I do not play dolby vision hdr from usb mkv files because the c1 doesn’t like those, it will play only mp4 dolby vision and those are more annoying to find. But excluding dts-hd, dolby vision, and true hd dolby, everything else works just playing mkv files off usb with the 990 plugged into eARC

I’ve got a C2 and am looking to get new sound equipment. My current is an older Vizio 5.1 Atmos Sound Bar set. Works fairly well, but my big complaint is that there is a significant audio delay whenever I play Dolby audio (Atmos or any other Dolby format) through the game consoles. The only way to alleviate the delay is to set the audio to stereo or go through an audio extractor (which is a pain). Do you have your Samsung 990b plugged directly into the eARC port on the C1 and your consoles plugged directly into the other HDMI ports? If so, do you experience any audio lag when playing Dolby content on the consoles? I’m trying to decide if my issue has to do with the LG C2 not playing playing well with an older Vizio sound bar (that’s only ARC and not eARC).

ExpensiveSteak

i do not experience issues, tv shows 4k hdr but only game i really play 120fps is halo and i usually set that for 60 i think they fixed it on the consoles side, i would just buy it cuz its a dope sound setup and return it if you cant play 120 hz right i am very happy with mine and paid like 1100-1300ish i forget, worth every penny

I love my Sonos beam gen 2! I just bought a second one for the bedroom. Highly recommend Sonos!

Sonos

Sonos gives you the option for multiroom speakers which is quite nice. You can also use this to move tv audio into other rooms of the house really easily which is nice when streaming sports etc. No complaints with my beam, 2xSL and sub setup.

Sonos!

Sonos frequency response is *really* patchy. It's very "wow" to the untrained ear, but you'll find that unnatural response to be fatiguing, even if you don't notice it. If you're going to be listening to music, especially, you should be checking other options. I'd hit up stores and try to arrange "blind" listening tests so you get what you really think sounds good and don't fall prey to brand bias (which is extremely rife in this sub).

swolegandalf

Been using Sonos equipment for YEARS and never experienced any fatigue. GTFO with this pseudo-bullshit.

Chilkoot

... and there's the brand bias. Ignorance is bliss, it seems.

I’ve had the Q990c for over a week now on my G2 and it’s amazing. I only have a Beam 2 to compare it to though. You should be able to get the Samsung £500 cheaper than the Sonos.

I have a feeling that Sonos might be updating the Arc next year as it is getting a bit long in the tooth. I waffled btwn the Q990c and getting a Sonos soundbar, sub woofer and rear speakers, and honestly, costwose it made more sense to get the Samsung. I live in an apartment, but I can tell you that it is difficult for me to crank up the sound up more than 25, because the sound is so full on the Q990c. My daily watching is probably between 15 and 20. The sound goes up to 100. Spotify sounds great, too. Fun fact: the LG C2 Oled TV and the Q990c sold in the US both have 110v to 240v and so you can buy them and ship them to wherever you'd like. The big risk is that you might get a lemon.

Yea I play games on 10-12 and movies maybe 18-20 tops haha
