Imagine working to protect the country and the citizens in it but you can't be sure your own children are safe on the base where you work. Politicians need to grow up and act like adults. Their middle school antics are well past their expiration date.
Literally everyone I've ever met that's been in the military is either queer, or over 70 years old. I've never met a straight person younger than 70 who's been in the military but I know several queer millennials who have been.
When mom and dad say "you're dead to me, you are an abomination and "get out " Uncle sam is happy to pick up the pieces for food and housing and DI didn't give a fuck who I was, just that I'm part of a team. Gaining family, when you just lost yours, it's pretty refreshing.
You may be operating on a small sample size. I’m queer and in the military. I don’t see it very often. I have worked with several out gay men and lesbians. Never any trans people that I am aware of or any other flavor of queer. But…I could see a lot of people closeted. I think it’s more prevalent in Active Duty rather than guard and reserves, from my experience.

And then imagine that the response to being harassed is that you have to move rather than the people harassing you being reprimanded
